  1. I too think Tettey''s return to fitness has made a big difference and coincides with the team''s recent improvement. And we look an awful lot more solid defensively with Yobo at the back.
  2. Chip, a rare voice of sanity is always good to hear.
  3. I suspect the OP was `a little tired and emotional'' when he wrote this. The usual nonsense about being `allowed to play''. The recent upturn in performances has more to do with the return of Tettey who, alongside Johnson, stiffened the midfield and played very well. By all means complain about CH when we play badly if you must, but you really should try to be more even-handed and fair to the manager when the team plays well. It might start to give your opinions the merest shred of credibility.
  4. If you''re going to insult them, at least check your own spelling.
  5. Ruddy Jonas/Martin Yobo Bassong Olsson Tettey Fer Redmond Snodgrass/Hoolahan Pilks Hooper
  6. I''d start with Hooper. Would like to see Redmond on the right so we have pace both sides to help counter Lennon, who switches. And maybe Jonas at RB for this match.
  7. Is there any way you could précis your larger posts please Rodney? My attention span isn''t quite what it......
  8. "If changing your manager is such a nailed on success that will improve your results & get you out of a hole, how come they''ve had to do it again. Much better to stop digging me thinks." "Tell that to Palace and Sunderland." The season isn''t over yet.
  9. "Very decent of you to say so, Fuzz. But sadly you are rather missing my point. Of course I''m not disagreeing that it''s perfectly reasonable to have differing opinions. I''m afraid one man''s vitriol is another''s banter. No I was suggesting, lightheartedly, that the OP''s preaching style ..''it''s time some of you took a long hard look at yourselves'' type stuff was rather reminiscent of some of Lakey''s recent didactic offerings." I accept that "long hard look at yourselves" has a whiff of the pulpit about it, but the OP is about vitriol and he makes a valid point. The line between banter and vitriol is regularly overstepped. And I didn''t get the ''light-hearted'' in your reply, maybe due to the lack of an exclamation mark!
  10. "Are you, by any chance, Lakey''s alter ego, whoareyou ? Because if not, you are doing a damn good job of aping his patronising, preaching, easily satisfied style." I believe the post is aimed at the level of vitriol Reggie, not the fact that there are differing opinions - more how aggressively they are expressed. You largely seem a fair and level-headed sort - you''re not disagreeing with that are you?
  11. Club needs a rotovator - make the pitch difficult to play on for those fancy, passing teams.
  12. "Oi!! Leave Killie out of it! Home town of Gary Holt and recent League Cup Winners with one ''Admiral'' Nelson in the side!! Now if you''d said Hearts.... " My sincerest apologies Killie. I obviously meant Hearts!
  13. "Tell that to Crystal Palace fans. Didn''t do them any harm." Pulis had the window to improve the squad. We don''t.
  14. "lots of people go on about Lennon but no one can offer anything as to why he would leave a job that offers a league title, medals and the champions league every season to come and manage a mid table premiership side?" I''ve never gone on about him and he wouldn''t necessarily be my choice. But I imagine he''d leave Celtic for largely the same reasons as Hooper. There''s only so much fun you can have playing Kilmarnock, or whoever, 4 times a year in anticipation of ultimately being routed Champions League.
  15. I''m not convinced that changing the manager now would make a substantive difference. I suspect the Board are now hoping we limp over the line and will re-assess at the end of the season. Rightly or wrongly they didn''t make the change when a new manager could have had a positive effect. So I suppose the OP, while interesting, is largely irrelevant. Had we lost to Hull, it''s my belief that Lennon would have been offered the post, and maybe he could have galvanised us but I doubt whether he would come in in caretaker capacity. I would now stick rather than twist and hope that the recent positive displays are reflected in results.
  16. What''s his record like for keeping teams in the Premiership?
  17. Happy with that. Shame Jonas injured - would have preferred him instead of Johnson alongside Tettey.
  18. Kick them in their groynes, maybe?
  19. Agree YellowFellow. Some of the football has been turgid this season, but we really were unlucky. On this occasion, I don''t think it fair to blame the manager.
  20. People will complain regardless of the team put out, with the benefit of hindsight. Probably the same people who have recently berated Redmond for his lack of end product, Fer for his apparent lack of interest and van Wolfswinkel for not being able to hit a barn door. But we were playing well with the team that started and looking back through the match thread yesterday, it was pretty quiet on here until Hooper''s mistake. Way too many `experts'' on here!
  21. I like this team Tom, with maybe Yobo in for Bennett who wasn''t brilliant yesterday. Jonas at RB against the Man City attack could be useful and I would definitely like to see Snodgrass behind the striker - `winning'' those free kicks in more central areas.
  22. What did I just tell about sneering, City1st? You really must read the posts!
  23. like minded people is exactly that manager of a local semi pro club and a number of club officials and players - the latter having all been in the game for decades, of whom I respect their opinion .. more so this being about the one thing they have a consensus about as to me then I still play - albeit 5 a side an hour a weekafter reading your rambling nonsense I can only imagine what folk you surround yourself with - your imaginary friends in your back bedroomnow run along sonny It''s funny the perceptions people have of each other on here. Having read for a number of years before posting, I genuinely had you as an embittered old man, almost permanently seated on a commode. But if you say you still manage a game of five a side a week, who am I to disbelieve you? Well, we both know football''s all about opinions. And just because you spent the afternoon drearing at the Aylsham Second XI''s staff, or wherever, really doesn''t make your any more valuable than mine, or anybody else''s, on this forum. You must try and remember that when sneering some of your replies in general. As for my own credentials; I only made it to the Norwich under 12s for a season in the same vintage as Phil Chapple in the late seventies, so no great shakes. And as for the back bedroom. Well that''s occupied by my third son, also at the game today and a handy little footballer himself at the West Brom Player Development Centre. As expected the MOTD team thought us desperately unlucky and that we''ll likely be safe if we continue to play like that. Just another opinion, of course...
  24. Yes, I imagine you were all muttering and dribbling some old nonsense in the care home. It''s very easy to surround oneself with like-minded people.
  25. Did you follow your oft-repeated, patronising and tedious advice and actually watch the bl oody game City 1st? I saw it all live and thought we played very well for most of it. A couple of very unfortunate defensive mistakes - sh!t happens. I suspect the MOTD panel will say we were really unlucky. And we were.
