  1. She’s nailed it, Smith isn’t the root cause (although he needs to go for his part) he’s a symptom of a much worse issue.
  2. Theres definitely no disconnect with the fans…the club just don’t want the team playing in front of them ideally.
  3. Hanley said the right things IMO, in stark contrast to Smith though. Smith’s “narrative” comments are the sort of thing you say after you’ve been sacked, not when you need to get fans back onside.
  4. Maybe I’m completely misreading but I can only assume these are comments made to save face and preserve his own dignity. A fracture exists and this is just stoking the flames, why would you do that? I think he knows he’s on borrowed time.
  5. Webber sacked Farke presumably because he believed that he’d took the team as far as he could…I don’t see any reason based on evidence of the last 3.5 years why the same assessment can’t reasonably be made of Webber.
  6. Pundits, other managers as well as Smith himself have all frequently commented on the high quality of this squad. The club set the expectation that promotion is the goal this season and we have the players to achieve it.
  7. I thought the clubs expectations were automatic promotion? Smiths literally said it I’m sure during pressers.
  8. It’s absolutely inevitable now, once the crowd properly turns it’s a question of when not if. He’s been given enough chances, if the club are serious about promotion they have to act.
  9. Most managers who end up losing their position are unlucky rather than completely useless.
  10. Pretty sure I voted out, haven’t changed my mind about that just because Smith’s dull. They aren’t mutually exclusive issues.
  11. I think Byram will sign if he stays injury free and wants to be here, McGovern if he wants to keep playing as he’s fine as 3rd choice. Feel Pukki is seemingly very unlikely, if we get promoted maybe, if not no chance. The rest no I don’t see a strong argument for being kept particularly and I don’t see why anyone would pay a fee with 6 months left.
  12. “Soft in the extreme” seems a bit ridiculous the other way. It was a foul, if it hadn’t lead to a goal though no one would care though because it wasn’t bad, but it was a foul. It wasn’t given and France scored a great goal because we defended poorly. That’s still on England.
  13. I’ve found watching England deeply uninspiring for years now. Maybe we will grind ourselves to a tournament win by being hard to beat but I don’t know if I care. Maybe I’m just misremembering with rose tinted glasses but I feel I remember the England teams of my youth being in general much more fun to watch. Club over country regardless.
  14. It was a really good campaign IMO and I’m proud the club spent the time and money on it. However it was a marketing campaign, not engagement with supporters per se. I find it interesting there’s a mindset that views it as such. As an aside working in a large US modern company we often talk about engagement in a similar way, literally internal marketing to employees.
  15. All I can say is it’s a good job we don’t need to breed new forum members from the current ones.
  16. Is this a serious question? First Google result was this tiny little company called Microsoft. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Investor/events/FY-2022/2021-Annual-Shareholder-Meeting
  17. Like with most of our promotions, there was a coherent plan, a number of individual elements all aligned to give us the best opportunity, confidence was gained and then flowed, and finally everyone was pulling together, club, manager, team and supporters. None of this is true right now and I think that’s basically why we aren’t currently successful even with a much better squad.
  18. Wonder how our Assistant Sporting Director feels right now considering he fell on his sword in a pretty similar situation.
