1. When I saw the title of the thread "Can you think like Lawro" I immediately thought No problem!, to think like him all I need to do is drink 15 pints of strong lager very quickly on an empty stomach, pick an argument with Chris Martin and as soon as I come round I''ll start predicting matches
2. Well done Celtic!   Looked like they were going to get the draw right up to the last seconds and surprised many with coming away from the Neu Camp with a narrow defeat.   Forster had a very good game.
3. Just one win!   That''s all - just one win.   Just one win will change things around.   Confidence and morale will lift and games that could''ve or should''ve been won will be won I''m sure.   Holt and Morison are on the score sheet, that''s one hurdle crossed.   Thoughts of replacing the manager at this stage will just be leaping from frying pan to fire and besides it isn''t necessary.   Patience, patience.   To win the war a few battles may be lost
4.
Take your point, Morty, but no, not really. Lambert''s history didn''t suggest he''d leave us in a dignified manner. He''s not a dignified man. He''s a ruthless bastard and that''s exactly why he was so great for us for three years. I imagine we''ll get the explanation at some point. I suspect it will be as simple as ''I wanted to manage a big club''. But you can''t say that while you''re in post, or indeed after it if you don''t want to get sued. Carrying on as if the last three years hadn''t happened? Well, that''s the supporters'' view. For Lambert it was a job, just as Colchester was a job and just as Villa is a job, to be done until Ferguson retires. I was gutted when he left, of course I was. If I''m honest, I thought then and think now that we''ll get relegated as a result. But I can''t find a reason to resent Lambert for it. I understand why others do, but I really don''t think he owed us anything.
Good post - fully agree.   Lambert is a ruthless man beyond doubt with a reported management style involving arrogant bullying which some people do not approve of, do not see it as commensurate with the othos of their club but accepted it as he IS a good manager who got results on the field of play, which he was hired for.   Who knows what personality conflicts went on behind the scenes that perhaps created an atmosphere of animosity?   If Lambert is judged to have acted in an undignified manner, would it not be as equally undignified to boo and jeer at him?   Would it not be better to demonstrate to him what dignity is?    "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation."                                                                                                                                                     - Herbert Spencer
5. Before I discovered Norwich I thought Ipswich WAS in the Orkney Isles!
6. I refuse to get cariied away with the result on Saturday.   Liverpool were allowed to look good, almost as good as Chris Hughton talked them up to be in his press conference!   Crowd out Suarez, fully test Wisdom and bombard Reina is a good starting point.   Reinas'' confidence is at a low ebb just now and he''s not as safe a keeper as he used to be.   Results show that for Liverpool to win a match they must score at least 3 goals!   (apart from pre-season and Europe)   However, the result was a good booster for the Redmen and may put them on a run.   Once they have three consecutive wins under their belt I will be more willing to think their is a recipe for a good league position.   On paper all Chelsea have to do is turn up!   And that could well work in Norwich''s favour - a great thing about football is no match is a foregone conclusion and everyone has a punchers chance
7. A professional player in a premier club should instinctively expect and deal with the unexpected otherwise it''s acceptable to concede many goals on the basis of being caught off guard - the ball wasn''t expected to come that way!   Many players play like the last thing they want is the ball and seem to try to off-load onto another player as soon as possibly can.   "Oh shit - there''s someone coming towards me!"   Ruddy played it to Garrido instead of punting it upfield no doubt thinking guarantee posession and build up from the back. Garrido decided to off load it onto Turner.   Turner had options to deal with unexpectedly receiving the ball.   We know what happened and because he''s Turner he''s already got black marks against him and this just adds to peoples frustration with him and the manager who bought him and picks him.   Probably the best defender to play against Liverpool is Ayala but unfortunately he had a pressing engagement elsewhere!   The demoralisation from this goal was complete and Norwich were not to find their way back in this game. apart from 2 goals scored by Morison and Holt which will greatly be beneficial to their confidence in coming games
8. No way of knowing if Chris Hughtons attitude towards Liverpool at his press conference was also prevalent in his dealings with his team.   You can respect your opposition but you mustn''t give an impression of holding them in awe.   If he wants to follow an example he should follow Bill Shanklys'', who would never discuss the opposition, considering it an insult to talk about any other team at Anfield.    For team talks he placed 11 counters on a model pitch representing the opposition, picking them up one by one he would toss them over his shoulder saying things like "Champaign Charlie, bloody useless!".   With around three or four counters left on the board he would state "You''ve only got four players to beat, go and do it!"   Liverpool were made to look good on Saturday.   If Chris''s team talks are anything like his press conference he needs to change his tack and focus on the oppositions weaknesses.   Norwich have some very decent players, they need to be played in the right way, a way that suits THEM which may not be the same as the manager would LIKE them to play but as they often say - you work with what you''ve got.   Rodgers'' potential undoing?   Tick tock tikky takka trying to be a Barcelona - can''t make silk purses etc.   Contrary to what some think this is not a turning point in Liverpools season in my opinion.   Chris ''s press conference would have been more motivating to Liverpool than probably Brendans own talk, assuming they listened to it.   Norwich won''t go down - they will eventually get it right.   The solution will come from Europe in January!
9. One of the legacies of success any club has is the worldwide appeal of the club attracting support from people outside the clubs environment.   People who have no attachment at all to the community the club originally represented - this is true of all clubs directly commensurate with their level of success.   Indeed it is a marketing aim of a club and great benefits are derived from a wider fan base in terms of merchandise et al. Are Liverpool supporters more knowledgable than Everton supporters? - a quick research of my family suggests that is the case!   Those that support Everton are definitely proof of that theory!!!   And YES what some describe as Victorian and outdated sporting principles I would like at least some of that spirit retained and continued as it''s also related to general attitudes within society.   Why do boxers having battered each other round after round end up hugging each other when it''s over?
10. Bill Shankly had a rule never to complain about a referees decision!   He said there was no point complaining since the result can''t be changed!   ****  knows what happened to his rule!!!   Even as a Liverpool supporter I get annoyed at Suarez''s diving.   He''s so used to doing it that even when he is genuinley fouled he makes it look like a dive!   If he gets any worse he''s going to have to wear a snorkel and flippers.   But he is capable if brilliance so Liverpool to win 4-0!!!
11.
I guess that we must have deserved it because we had a few complete tools travel with us too? a few ......   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI9R1zhIl6c   (not pleasant watching)
Only saw this after my previous post. Horrific and harrowing in the extreme to see it again after all these years but thank you for posting the clip.   And no one could have imagined at that time that even worse was to come
12. As has been stated on many posts, any terrible disaster involves a series of contributing factors occuring.  This is as true for Heysel as for Hillsborough.   Heysel also has many contributing factors but I think the important issue is that Instigation and provacation does not provide justification and it''s not just actions people must bear responsibility for but equally their reactions and in many cases their overeactions.   I do not accept as an excuse or a justification the fact some Italian fans instigated and provoked trouble.   In those days, and possibly even now in some countries any travelling English fans were prime targets to be spat at, goaded, insulted, ridiculed and provoked.   It was only expected when travelling abroad we may be confronted with this problem therefore it was vital we kept control and did not over-react because in doing so the English fan was in a no win situation.   Absolutely pointless in reacting to the provocation, as severe as it may be.   Of course someone not involved can suddenly find themselves standing in front of a maniac wielding a metal pole or something and self-protection is necessary.   But that doesn''t involve scaling fences and charging into opposing fans.   Those drawn into the melee in this manner are usually doing their best to get away from it not being even more part of it.   Lets face it, in those days there were groups of people who went to matches just for violence and it was organised.   The Police even went undercover to infiltrate the gangs who attached themselves to some clubs.   Even though violence was prevelant in football I cannot and will not condone anyone who decided to get stuck-in to the opposing fans at Heysel.   There is a post on here where the poster states his hatred for Liverpool fans then proceeds to describe a collection of woolie-backs and plastics who wouldn''t know a bowl of scouse if they fell into one!   The Scousers are the ones who at Anfield, always applaud the opposition goalie.   The Scousers are the ones who applauded the Norwich players after the 1-1 draw last year.   The Scousers are the ones who directed the police to the culprit abusing Tom Adeyemi (sp?).   When I suggested a round of applause was sufficient for those not wishing to sing YNWA I didn''t mean a round of applause for the Liverpool fans - It''s a round of applause showing respect for fellow football fans who never returned from Hillsborough.
13. Regarding the attitude in Liverpool towards Margaret Thatcher - she is as popular there as in Yorkshire and South Wales.   Her heavy handed and direct approach left a lot of people bitter in our industrial and manufacturing centres of the north.    She made an assuption based on the information she had at the time and like many people automatically thought Liverpool fans had caused the catastrophe.   It''s understandable why that assumption would be made by many people given the climate of the time with football fans in general and past problems with Liverpool fans specifically the Heysel Stadium and the terrible consequences of that day that caused all English fans and English football to be punished.because of mindless hooliganism   It wasn''t long before a different picture of Hillsborough began to emerge that indicated there was more to it than meets the eye but many people simply refused to accept anything other than their pre-concieved opinions.   Even to this day there are fans who insist on travelling to games even though they don''t have tickets - That was a contributing factor beyond doubt but was always a predictable situation whenever there was an all ticket game.   Liverpool fans who pay good money to get in have the same opinion about those type of supporters that everyone else does.   Maggies unpopularity regarding Hillsborough is caused by her faith in the appointed officers reporting to her.    I personally don''t hold her responsible for their failings
14. Initially I wasn''t going to post on this thread and have ignored many comments made.   But there are many posts above which come from intelligent people whose posts are very well thought out, realistic and productive   Disasters such as Hillsborough are never caused by ONE single event but are caused by of a chain of events and contributing factors.   Many of these contributing factors are predicatable and therefore avoidable providing proper planning and action is taken.   I believe the report correctly identifies these contributing factors.   There were people in positions of command who failed in their duty, whether they are taken to account for their incompetance or not remains to be seen   I''m sure Norwich fans on Saturday will be more than respectful to the memory of 96 who went to watch a match and never came back and their loved ones,  along with the injured survivors and survivors whose experience even to this day has left emotional and mental scars of that horrific disaster.   Apart from that - business as usual.   You can sing about signing on the dole, nicking hub caps etc. etc.    It won''t bother me, I''ve got a better job than most of you will ever have!!!   As for singing You''ll Never Walk Alone -  I''m sure just a round of applause would be a most significant gesture.    Of course it''s also a sad time for Norwich with the recent passing of John Bond.   I''ve never heard anything but good said of John, a great manager and true gentleman.
15.
High prices for the Scousers but...... When you take into account the pick-pocketing - we should just about break even!
Oooooooo!   That hurts................. that really hurts - right below the belt that one!!
16. I''m glad I''m a vegetarian and only eat animals that eat grass!
17.
I refuse to be influenced by the Fulham performance or the QPR match.   Instead I will bank on the Norwich players all gelling and getting it together with commitment, fire and flair!   If that be the case a draw or narrow win for Norwich, however my wishful thinking may be overuled but I''m hoping AVB has managed to p1ss off the Spurs players to the advantage of Norwich.   Behind it all I just want something to chuckle about tonight!!!   0-2 Norwich!!  (Snodgrass, Holt (pen))
Well I certainly was given something to smile about!!   A fantastic performance with a win denied only by the brilliant form of Brad Friedel.   Performance wise I consider this to be Norwich''s first game of the season and discount the other two as warm ups!!!   This is the first game where it''s starting to come together, to take shape.   I would just like all those who keep banging on about having a weak strike force to give it a rest.   You''ve got what you''ve got and, believe it or not what you''ve got may be better than you think!   Look at that move where Morison attacked into their area, Holts back heel and a blustering shot from Howson (I think - can''t remember) with only the brilliance of Friedel denying a great goal.   Poetry - sheer poetry!!!   Hughton knows best!!!!!!!

19. Well the thread title says "Bring On QPR" and I''ve been sitting here waiting for someone to even mention the poor f*****s.   Instead I suddenly find myself sitting in the middle of someones "Social Experiment".   Oh goody, I''ve always wanted one of them!   I haven''t had time to process and analyse in full all the data from this social experiment but it seems the end result is a punch up in a car park or something, which is always the most definitive way to bring any healthy intellectual debate to a comprehensive conclusion.   Now, just to bring QPR into this (After all, it is part of the title of this thread) my fellow scouser, one Joseph Barton Esquire, seems to conform to this type of social experiment where he can wax lyrically of great philosophy one minute and then attempt to gauge your eyes out the next.   Perhaps we can call upon his services as a mediator in this affair?   If my view of the Fulham match is of any use to this experiment please do use it freely.   Despite the performance and result, at least it was a nice sunny afternoon in London!   See, there''s always something positive to be gained even in the most dire of circumstances!!   It''s awright for you lot - I''m a scouser with a Norwich connection - you only lost five nil on Saturday whilst on combined scores I lost eight nil!.   Don''t bother calling Joey; I''ll gauge my own eyes out!!!
20. There''s no better club for Pacheco than Norwich!   Clearly Rogers doesn''t want him - It''s not the 0-3 defeat to West Brom, I''ve not been convinced about Rogers joining Liverpool from the start.   Just 37 months real time experience managing football clubs, inheriting the Swansea squad from Martinez who laid the foundations.   His obsession with the "Barcelona Way" and dreams of emulating that style - Liverpool is not the place just now for experimenting or testing out theories.   But it''s early days so we wait and see!   A bit like Norwich really!   Although we all know Norwich''s tradition is not to win their opening match of the season the performance and amount of goals have made people gulp a bit but patience has to be exercised in giving Hughton his chance to get the squad playing as they can.   I haven''t a clue why Ayala has been loaned out?   Certainly he''s young and needs experience but that''s one of the reasons he joined Norwich and Pacheco makes no secret of the fact he really WANTS to play for Norwich.   Even if he just sits on the bench his enthusiasm is valuable to team spirit.   I think someone should jump in their car and pick Dani up from Liverpool and on the way back divert to Nottingham and pick up Ayala as well !!!
21. Some people are concerned as they anticipate a tough season ahead.   Compared with what?   I''m struggling to think what an easy season looks like!   Some of the top teams supporters are no doubt worried about if they will make the top four.    Others worried their team won''t rise above the bottom three - it''s all relative, same sh1te just a different colour!   At the start of last season 17th was the target - Oh how some were doubters about even attaining that.   Perhaps NCFC should do away with the position of manager and form a management committee made up of those supporters who seem to know better, who obviously see things the manager can''t and instantly have the solution.   How easy it is to know best when being far removed from the reality of it and having no involvement or responsibility for ones ideas.   I do it all the time when it''s not my bo11ocks that are on the table.   The managers job is to manage and my job is to support.   Seems a good enough arrangement.   Of course I will be critical - when I feel it justified but before a season has even kicked off seems the wrong time to me.   Nothing is more designed to keep a man in everlasting ignorance than contempt prior to investigation and negative projections of what the future holds are just that.   This is the time to get behind the manager and the team - good, bad or indifferent as they may seem - matchday motivation comes from the terraces not the dugout.
