Fulham away...
canaryfairy replied to RvWs 4 year contract's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I''ll put my money on Fulham 7 - City 1. A hat-trick of own goals for Bassong, RVW scoring from the half-way line and Hughton banned for the rest of the season for headbutting that short German fellow that looks like Penfold. -
It''s a distant memory now but I think our team looked fairly decent when we had Tettey, Howson and Fer in the midfield. I think the performances have improved with Tettey''s return, maybe we might just get a win with the return of Howson as well?

On the site at 6pm - interview with McNally

It seems clear that they have considered sacking Hughton but have held back because their not sure the potential replacements would do any better - neither am I. We may not actually need many more wins (2 or 3 could be enough) to stay up but equally we don''t look like winning any at the moment. Tottenham should be a loss, or at best a point if they have an off day. Villa we are also likely to lose because of the Lambert/Holt dream team factor. So the question is would they sack him with just 10 games remaining? Would that give anyone enough time to do anything? Losing the next 2 would certainly make the Stoke game a must win. So it''s a massive gamble whether to stick or twist after the inevitable Villa defeat. If we lost 2 then beat Stoke it could give the players a bit of confidence going into the crucial Soton, Sunderland, Swansea, West Brom, Fulham games - a good run here could easily see us safe. Lose the next 2 and lose against Stoke and I would say we''re down. -
The pants must be wetter than Somerset! Fulham will hammer us again (maybe by just the 4 this time) but they will also be relegated and because their club is not run as prudently as ours they''ll be in big trouble. No way I''d swap our situation for theirs.

I think we''ll get more than 5 points because I think we''ll manage at least one win (perhaps if the opposition''s bus breaks down). 8 could be enough to stay up this year - Fulham (who I predicted to finish 18th on 33 points and Cardiff are likely to end up with worse goal differences than us. -
Like most on here I feel very downbeat about our chances. The only hope I have is that 3 other teams do even worse than us - although with the Cardiff result and tonight''s result I thought even that was unlikely. Until I completed this predictor: http://www.the-mustard.com/predictor.html We finished 17th on 34 points! The 9 points came from, Stoke(3), Soton(1), Sunderland(3), Swans (1), WestBrom(1). Fulham, Palace and Cardiff relegated. Would be interested to see if others get a positive outcome?

Depends on your definition of ''playing well''. If you have lots of possession, attack, pass well, create lots of chances and score no goals I don''t consider that to be playing well. If you did that consistently for 38 games you''d be bottom of the league. I know where you''re coming from but I disagree. The aim of the game of football is to score more goals than the opposition - if you don''t do that you are not playing the game well. Creating chances etc should enable you to score goals but chances alone are not the aim.

What have chances got to do with it. If we keep creating that many chances and keep not finishing any of them we''ll be in back in League 1. Unfortunately it''s not about chances, it''s about scoring more goals than the opposition. -

Agree with the above. Chris Hughton knows a lot about footballing tactics but in practice he is very tactically poor. -
If you miss all your chances and never score that is NOT playing well. Playing well is when you kick the ball in the goal.

Goreham: "What can you do to change things"? Hughton: "You can only keep doing what you''re doing" Oh dear!!!

That is the most surprising thing. How the hell are we not in the bottom 3? (we could be tomorrow) -

Really fed up with the media going on about how many chances we create. I couldn''t care less about chances because we don''t convert any of them and we usually make at least one defensive mistake = lose. The only chance we have to avoid relegation is if the other teams below us lose even more. Still a glimmer of hope then (shame West Brom just scored though!) -
No, relegation.

Match thread vs Hull Tiggers
canaryfairy replied to Bws Cat 's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Southampton are much much better so next week will be interesting. Hopefully we will do something very different but if we do play like we did today it''s very possible we could get beaten 4-0. How would people feel if that was the result and the performance was as bad as today? -
You are incorrect. Yes we will have off days and get well beaten, but our attitude was very very poor. We gave up 5 mins from time and that is not acceptable.

The worst thing about this is we gave up 5 mins before the end. That would never have been allowed under Lambert - we used to be at our most dangerous in the last few mins and injury time. The players were not sharp, passing was terrible and their attitude and decision making was poor. Ricky, Redmond and Howson played okay. Fer was terrible and looks some way off the pace (will give him another chance as it''s his first prem game). I almost went to the game bur couldn''t afford the petrol - so glad I didn''t. But I feel for all of you that did attend. A long long way to go and a lot of money wasted to watch that. Most disappointed I''ve been in a long time because that performance was worse than our very bad patch at the end of last year. Thankfully it''s only the 2nd game of the season but I don''t expect to see that again this season.
