1. To be honest he wasn''t Championship class neither, however he always gave 100%. All the best KOS!
2.
Has he been as effective this season as last? Have a think about that and try to be objective. Is he now in the comfort zone? Family set up for life whatever sort of performance he turns in. Is he still hungry? I know what I think
Give over! Holt is not scoring as the formation doesn''t suit him and he gets less chances.
3. No not at all. I think we''ll stay up. Of the 5 we have lost 2 were against Man City and Chelsea, two were away from home. So going back to my original point I think this is a sensible move for the summer so we can move to the next level.
4. Next season we need to sell/release: Surman Fox Jackson C Martin Barnett Smith Morison Tierney Loan: R Bennett Adiyemi (to a Championship club) Rudd This will hopefully generate £4m plus free up some wages to pay for (well subsidise) the following: A creative midfielder/deep lying forward replace Hoolahan A defensive midfielder to replace Johnson Two top quality forwards A quick left and right winger A left back What do you think? With £60m in the bank as well this could be achievable.....assuming we stay up.
5. Revisit getting Curtis Davies in. We cannot keep a clean sheet without Bassong so maybe Davies is the answer. Send Ryan Bennett to Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season. Also, Birmingham are skint so we might be able to pick him up for less than usual. What do you think?
6. Lambert might see this as his last pay day and will probably be cheaper than Graham.
7. Or we are using both as a shield to buy a decent foreign striker.
8. With all the turmoil at Southampton and bearing in mind that British players are over priced compared to there foreign counterparts, do you think it would be worth while putting a bid in for Rickie Lambert? The new manager may feel that the money generated could buy him more for his money in Argentina for example. What do you think?
9.
Surmans not good enough for prem. Good champ player. Another one I expect to move on this summer. He''s behind bj tettey howson and fox. Too lightweight and not as creative as a fox or hoolahan.
and too slow....
10. Making the assumption that we cannot get a striker in at a decent price, why not get Vaughan back if Jackson goes to Wolves? It would certainly freshen things up and give the opposition something to think about. What do you think?
11.
Whilst you can''t fault Hoolahan''s workrate and endeavour, the Wigan game aside, he has produced just one assist all season. He pirouettes with the best of them, but Norwich suddenly need a little more than that. Snodgrass''s confidence seems sky high, and with his ability to go down if a defender so much as breathes on him, could most likely earn a plethora of freekicks in dangerously central positions. Bennett must be champing at the bit to get a consistent run down the right flank, and would add much needed pace to the attacking line. There would be nothing to lose by trying it judging by recent results.
I like this idea and would be prepared to give it another go now Snoddy has acclimatised to PL football.
12. How about Max Gradel who played for Leeds a couple of seasons back? He was a quick tricky winger who scored goals. I am not sure how he has been getting on since he went home though. Just a thought.
13.
i might get slated for this post but what about getting samaras if we dont get hooper? when i have seen him play he has played bloody well and is not lazy.. thoughts?
Hooper all day long.
14.
I have always been a follower of the pink''un message board and always interested in the comments made by us fans. I have decided to drop my own personal opinion since a good run in for the 2nd season in the Prem and reading certain posts i continue to see comments on the lack of Premiership Quality. As much as i am a huge fan and season ticket holder, i would like to break the news nobody has mentioned. UNLESS WE HAVE THE FINANCIAL STRUCTURE TO BUY QUALITY PREMIERSHIP PLAYERS, WE WILL NEVER BE A DECENT SIDE PREM TEAM. Newcastle Match highlighted the quality of players we actually have. We should have won the match but due to the lack of premiership quality we have i am not surprised. Wes Hoolahan in my opinion is a frustrating one for me, newcastle highlighted the icing on the cake for me. Is it me or does he run round in circles with the ball? When given an opportunity at goal, he should be able to convert that into a goal since he is such a quality ''prem player''. He had clear chances, and a good clean service to be able to convert any of the balls at the goal on saturday. But the truth is hoolahan couldn''t find the net no matter how hard he tries. Running around in circles like a hyper dog is not enough. The big man Holty surprises me at how much people are actually conceded to believe Holt is a Premiership Player. I would like fans to actually sit down at the next match and count how many times he rolls around on the floor for no apparent reason and then looks at the ref!!!! This goes beyond how many chances he has missed when he is one on one with a keeper but yet no one likes to high light this. As for the goals he has scored will either be from corners, set pieces and all conceded by that rather large head of his but its funny how scoring goals with his feet is very rare. Slating jackson saying he isn''t premiership quality is laughable at the fact that neither is Holty. Holty will never play for england neither will he ever play for another premiership team club. If we never got promoted from championship no premiership team would EVER buy Holty. Holty plays a league 1/championship side style which is called injure the opposing defenders. Holty playing one up front clearing isn''t working for him this season. Our striker options is very worrying but what use is there really for a striker this season? Let''s put the facts clear! Hughton does not go out to win the games! Hughton is a defensive manager who is scared to attack. He subs likes for likes in the same formation with scrappy results. No striker has any opportunity playing one up front and that shows in the lack of goals scored by the strikers. This was proven at Newcastle, as mentioned we had plenty of opportunities to win the game but yet he subbed like for like which wasn''t going for the win. YES HOOLA FANS, HE PLAYED SHIT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUBBED. The slating jackson got for newcastle was an utter joke. Please remember jackson is not a lone striker, but his work rate was surprisingly good due to the lack of service he got from the midfield. He also set up hoolahan to be able to score and if hoolahan had scored then you would all convince yourself jackson played well. He started the season playing well and to be precise it doesn''t matter what jackson or bennett does at training, all it comes down to is the hughton does not playing attacking football. The work rate both bennett and jackson show on the pitch has to come from training well and keeping fit, something Holty isn''t. Holt should not be playing 90 mins this season because he is not entirely fit. As for striking options, unless we invest in a proven lone striker that has the ability to play quality football, then we will always be a either mid low table or fighting to not get relegated. Word from a reliable source has confirmed jackson was given a new contract at the start of the season so don''t be surprised if he signs on to stay. I believe it is time to change the formation as norwich play is becoming to predictable, we need more strikers on the pitch than more midfielders and wingers as neither johnson or hoolahan can score. We have a championship side squad and with further experience i do believe our squad can with time become some quality.
The only reason Holt won''t play for England is age. Had he been 3 years younger he would have been on the plane to the World Cup last time. As for Holt not playing for another PL team? again if we got relegated this season I think Holt will be 32 in the summer so age will prevent him from being signed by another PL club. His resale value at that point would be negligible compared to funding a replacement for what would be the Championship so we would be better off keeping him.
15. The trouble with Tierney is that he has no defensive positional sense and he gets found out when we are under pressure. The reason he looked so good over the last 3 years is because Norwich has a hung ho attacking mentality that over run the opposition, unfortunately we do not have the quality to carry this on in the PL and he it found out.
16. I was hoping that Butterfield was going to be that person to challenge Wes but due to injury he hasn''t had a look in yet. Wes has a lot of pluses, but he does need to improve his scoring ratio. I have never seen a person scuff so any shots as Wes. A second striker should be bagging us around 10 goals per season and at present we are lucky to get 5. The other annoying fact about Wes that he doesn''t seem to learn from is trying to be clever with a dribble in dangerous areas in our defensive third. He did it again against Newcastle and nearly cost us the game.
17. It just seem to be a waste of money to let them go for nothing when we could cash in and get £1-2m for the lot which can be used to fund replacements.
18. Does anyone know what players we have out of contact at the end of the season? as I had a gut feeling that Jackson was one and yet I have not heard of any contract talk one way or the other.
19. Great post Rudolph.  I agree whole heartedly. :)
20.
Not in my opinion. Tettey out shone bj in every aspect, covering, movement, passing and defending. And that was in a game which was tette!ys worst passing game This was a match calling for fox to pass our midfielders in yet. we persisted with two defensive players who were our weak link today. Fox to start for poor bj
I agree.
21. Exactly. Holt will be good for the next 18 months or so but we need someone who is reliable, young enough to take over long term. As for Johnson, he gets stuck in , he runs about a lot but is not creative and rarely burst through from midfield to help the forwards out. He comes across to me as being a bit limited on the mobility front. If we can get a Tettey in but one who can pass then we are sorted IMO.
22. We need a new midfielder who is a hybrid of Johnson and Fox as neither are up to it longer term in themselves. This would be as well as a long term replacement for Holt (Graham would be ideal).
