1. I have just read the article on the pinkun on lambert speaking out about selling Nelson. Made it seem like he genuinely didn''t want to let him go but knew he would not get much game time here and the chances of him getting picked up by a football team decrease in the summer when more free agents are kicking about.I was one of those pissed off when we sold Nelson, i think in a championship battle, whatever position you are in, you need four central defenders because the liklihood is one will gett injured and the other two then have the fear of suspension on thier minds when they play. however on reading the article it seems like Lambert has a lot of respect for nelson and appreciates what he has done here so has let him go to better his career, or at least get more chance to play- so well done Lambert i don''t know how much loyalty you see like that in the game these days!
2. I just read the article and see West Ham are preparing thier own legal bid. do you think their would be any chance of taking proceedings considering we had something like a 25% sell on clause on him?
3.
Well i guess (no real idea) he was ''working'' for the FA at the time (england training) and he broke his ankle which subsequently forced him to retire early and all future earnings ruined from a playing pov. People break their ankles / legs / ribs all the time but they don''t sue because the anticipation is they will play again. The OP did say it was a complex legal case deciding where responsibility lay. I would assume the FA is responsible for insuring players when they are on england duty. if they weren''t on international duty the blame would lie on SWP and his / his employers insurance.
My general gist of how it works, and i wana get into sport law so i do have a rough idea. Basically players are insured for millions, if they get a career threatening injury while at thier club the insurance the club set up for the player would give him a huge pay out (it''s just like life insurance), so if SWP had injured him just in a normal match then it would be West Ham and thier insurers paying out, but when a player is on England duty they are covered by insurance the FA sorts out, that is why you see some clubs try to sue national FAs when their players get injured on international duty

5. Just been looking at the games tonight and here are my predictions for teams around us, what do others predict? Cardiff 3 Reading 1Coventry 2 Nott''m Forest 1Hull 2 Leeds 2QPR 1 Portsmouth 1Watford 2 Palace 0 Norwich 3 Millwill 1Realistically this would mean we only gain in QPR but a Forst slip up is needed (and due) as they have couple games in hand.
6. Substitutes 19 Poke, 37 Dunk, 05 Battipied, 07 Bennett, 11 Baz, 20 Holroyd, 21 Sandazathats from bbc, hes on the bench

8.

My source.. a mate who lives in London. I have no reason not to trust him, he works for Gillingham FC, but don''t if his position there got him this information? Any way, if true I think Bennett will be ours, let''s wait and see?
Odd that a team sheet has been released 5 hours before a game, thought they had to be handed in by 1.30pm.
you are rught cityangel it should be up on bbc around 2 or bit later i think
9.
Hahahaha! Nana had better watch it then. Last time I checked it was easier to answer who liked him - no one! In all seriousness although exagerated some of the comments on here are quite apt. You have guys in the premiership earning as much as we spend on player transfers over two, three or even four seasons if not more. What the heck is going on? That isn''t the entire picture either. Players can get sponsership deals and bonuses on top of that plus image rights etc. The prem league does need bringing down a notch or two but that is unlikely unless they do it throughout Europe else you are talking about all of the big players playing abroad. I personally would like to see a similar rule to the one they have in the states. Mt understanding is that there is a wage cap which depends on which league you are in. Each team is allowed one player that can be paid above and beyond that wage cap - essentially a named star player. Again this would only work if it was implemented across Europe at least. One thing I do understand is that football players have a career that normally spans 15-20years. After that they have to work like the rest of us. Some find it harder than others. Personally I have no problem with them making good money whilst they play - just not silly money like tens of millions a year.
i think all the american sports have slightly different rules about wages. problem with wage cap was preety obvious in the ice hockey league, i think 2009 or 2008 when the seaosn was called off as the players striked and couldnt reach an agreement over the wage limit. It wouldnt work setting a wage cap of say a set amount a week in the prem, as we already got players on nearly 300k, no ones gonna drop theier wages by 200k to be in line with a wage budget, and if the wage cap isnt set at 100k it''s just not going to make any difference as its still only the big 3/4 clubs who can pay that much. a better strategy would be what they have been talking about, a wage cap which is done on how much money the club brings in.o and with a lot of footballers contracts they can quite easily earn an extra 50% wages on the bonuses from a game.
10. i dont get the point of this thread, is it JLS playing carrow rd, i thought that was arranged a while ago?
11. tom was year below me at school, clever guy, brilliant every sport, bit pain really, if he dint end up playing footie would been cricket or hockey, or maybe a brain surgeon!
12. haha his new post about the lg phone, he unlocks it at the start and looks like his background is some girl, maybe he''s a bigger pimp than we all thought
13.

[;)]   And the girls won 2-0 into the bargain.   OTBC
What is Anne Widdecombe doing in goal?
haha i hadn''t even noticed her, she would put me off if i was running at her, i actually think she looks a bit like Mrs. Doubtfire
14. SWP coming in guys, lets yourselves go and get excited about it! hahai think if we go up could see him on a perm too
15. ha i never let myself get excited about such ludacris claims but i actually think this one may happen, i dunno why i just have a feeling about this one
16. that predictor on the bbc site is quite gd, i got us on 80 points and thought i was being quite held back about our chances, what do teams normally get auto promotion with?
17.
Agree. Askou is a decent defender. People have got short memories. He was our best defender in league 1 before he got injured. I''m sure he could have made the step up, just bad luck and bad timing stopped him getting his place back. Nelson is the poorest defender along with Russel Martin who everyone jumping on the band wagon about how good he is. The amount of times this guy gets forward and can''t cross a decent ball in. Can''t defend for toffee and is a terrible right back. I await everyone to get their willies out and defend him.
you are either purely seeking some attention or have never seen city play
18. Webbo you compare them as they both play the same position for us or have been at times and with a system where 3 of our midfielder interchange so much you can only compare them, obviously everyone else brings something to the table and im sure thats your point, but Ernie''s is i am sure that as they play the same position he would generally prefer Lansbury to start ahead of Smith
19. From a look at this team as it is now i would say we are defiently short another striker and a quality one at that, it does feel so far that Jackson has been a waste of money. I would also say our midfeild back up isn-t strong enough to maintain a push for promotion, very nice starting 4 but we need someone with a bit more qulaity already than Mcnamee and Korey i think, i think Bennet will be that man, so that really only leaves the striker issue. The RB been of concern but hopefully Martin will stay fit i would gamble on him doing that and then if not bring a loan player in to compete with Francomb
20. you using myp2p for this? u could alway change ur ip to a foreign one and watch it on bet365. The other links all look foreign so i may do that
21.

on another note can someone please explain the s smith situation, how does everyone know hes leaving and are we selling or releasing him
At yesterday''s press conference, Lambert said "The situation with Steven is he''s still getting over his injury and doing really fine. But he''s finding it hard to settle here so I may have to look to move him on or send him out on loan"
thanks, this is prob good news
22. just read this on here and see how everyone think someone created a fake account for this rumour, dunno if that is true or not cos u would have be one sad person to go the distance in doing that. so either this rumour is true or some city fans really have no life.on another note can someone please explain the s smith situation, how does everyone know hes leaving and are we selling or releasing him, surely he worth a few bob, he got euro experience, even if that was in scotland
23. spot on city1st! cant add much more to that apart from some approval, for what thats worth!
24. I cant believe people are gettin worked up about what he said, he was a t a club and was loyal to them. We would expect any of our players, just like we did with the manager, to state he wouldnt be going anywhere if linked with another club. He has just done what any real loyal footballer will done. The fact he has come now shows he see the potential in city and he obviously has a good relationship with lambo. I was questioning this signing at first, as we have drury, lappin and smith. it doesnt appear there is any obvious need for a lb, but i think lamberts plan will probably be to have Tierney starting at lb this season. The chances are drury will suffer another injury, if he doesn''t, i think we will see tierney is just a better lb, he''s more solid, better crosser. I think he''s gonna do a good R Martin job on the left hand side.Tierney only had 6 months left on his contract so would have cost piss all really, however if he wasnt bought in to replace and not just cover drury why wouldnt lambert just sign him on a pre-contract and get him free in the summer?I think he''s gonna be a good hard player for us, adding some more fight to the defence, which has been leaking goals a lot from the the left. I would have preferred to have seen another striker to bang some goals in, but hopefully jackson will prove he''s worth all the money it appears lambert wasted on him and chris martin will start scoring again.Dont think we will see any more signing, 3 signings for a transfer window is alot and it''s the target Lambert was aiming for, lambo wont want to unsettle the team, i would like to see lansburys loan extended, but dont expect to see any more signings now
