  1. Oh dear, this is a bit confusing! As the REAL Mr.Carrow i would like to distance myself from this chaps negative ramblings. I have actually supported Worthington pretty much since he took over and tend to limit my moaning to confrontational scousers and plastic toys at games! I dont think this person has posted in ages actually or else i would have had a go at him for nicking my pseudonym!
  2. 12,000 hardcore supporters?! When our chairman was probably the most hated person in East Anglia then maybe, but our `hardcore support` has been trickling back season by season since then. The season Worthy took over we were nearly relegated and the average crowd was over 16,000 i believe. Someone on WOTB worked out that our post-war average attendance is about 17,500 (higher than the ipswich`s!). The club is now seen as being worthy of support in every way so it is no suprise to see the crowds flocking back from all corners of its huge catchment area.
  3. Your original post was spot-on Kitters. And people wonder why we are patronised as backward yokels......jeeeeez. Sing loud and proud at Palace, but please leave the silly toys at home children.
  4. Sometimes you get players who, whilst not looking particularly impressive in their general play, have a knack of coming up with a goal or killer ball. Hendersons stats for goals scored+created in the limited time hes been on the pitch are superb and indicate he may be this kind of player. People who knock him for not taking his full-back on more often, fail to realise he is a young player using his brain and playing to his strengths. He is not amazingly quick and is still physically more boy than man, so `one on one` an experienced defender will get the better of him more times than not. It seems he knows this and tends to play cautious, keeping possession until he has space or defenders are pulled out of position which is a far better ploy than just recklessly running into a tackle and losing the ball most of the time.
  5. Yep,thats me mate. I am actually employed as Delias chief pie taster, but the announcement last night was made when i got stuck in a turnstile after one too many broccoli+stilton pasties. Its a hazard of the job,but someones got to do it!
  6. This has to be about the most one-sided report i have ever read. Not only is it written almost exclusively from W.Broms viewpoint and ignores the many highly dubious decisions which went against City, but it also sees fit to mention FIVE of W.Broms six efforts on target and only ONE of City`s eight! Apparently W.Brom `dominated the first half and held their own in the second`. Well, these are the stats: Corners: City 8 W.Brom 2 Goal attempts: City 15 W.Brom 12 On target: City 8 W.Brom 6 Hardly show W.Brom dominance do they?! I`ve emailed a complaint and i hope others will do likewise.
  7. .......Is it just me or did the ITV highlights completely fail to put accross the tremendous atmosphere inside C.R. last night? I,like several thousand others, was on my feet most of the game+shouted myself hoarse, so why did it sound on TV like a W.I. meeting? The highlights for the West Ham game sounded great with the new stand holding the noise in so i dont get it. Can anyone on here with links to Anglia shed any light on it?
  8. Yep,with Drury looking likely to be out on Sunday i would say its a no-brainer to bring someone in on loan to fill the right-wing position+leave Mcviegh on the left..........problem is,i cant for the life of me think who!
  9. Can i remind people that for nearly 3 full seasons City have sold out the home sections for virtually every game. The `glory` in that time has been a losing trip to Cardiff and.....errrr....a defeat by Chelsea in the cup! I mean, last season there were games sold out months in advance (Ipswich,Forest), and lets face it,it was a dull+disapointing season. I think it is fair to assume that if we had had the current capacity last season we would have sold it out easily many times, so to accuse City of being plagued with `glory hunters` is out of order. Even with the increased capacity there seems to have been many genuine fans who missed out for the W.Ham, W.Brom and Ipswich games (all sold out weeks in advance). I think we would need a capacity of 28,000+ to start getting worked up about a massive influx of `glory hunters` at C.R.!
  10. Fair points, but the way i see it the method of dividing games into different classes is as much about the overall importance of the match (+therefore demand) as it is about opposition. For example, if by some miracle we played Walsall in the play-offs or the F.A.cup quarter-final i dont think anyone would be surprised if it was grade A because we know the tickets could be sold twice over. I can think of other clubs (and past regimes!) who,in the face of current demand, would have introduced an A+ grade of £26-£30 for the West Ham, Ipswich+ Preston games. There would have been a brief outcry, but we all know the tickets would have been sold. I mean, how cheap were those 8-game s.tickets? £110 per adult for 8 of the biggest games in the clubs history! They could have been £140+ i think they would have still reached the cap. There comes a point where by being scrupulously fair with supporters, the club is actually shooting itself in the foot+ i believe City have reached that point.
  11. I really hope they manage to include some seats in front of the hotel-we need as many as we can get! I think its likely that they will, as the idea of a concrete wall at each end of the Barclay+South stands sounds pretty ridiculous+ wouldnt make sense if they wanted rooms/exec.boxes overlooking the pitch. 1800 hundred seats in the River-end infill+say 500 in front of the hotel would take capacity up to around 28,000 which would be much better given the huge demand for tickets, and would make Carrow Rd a pretty damn impressive stadium!
  12. I`ve got sympathy for people who struggle to afford football in these days of inflated prices, but i think with unemployment so low+the minimum wage this group is far smaller than it used to be. I also think the club has been amazingly fair in recent years. They could easily have hiked prices for the Chelsea cup game, the extremely limited casual tickets this season, or season tickets for next season-ok i know they`ve gone up a bit,but i still think with the recent investment in players+possible premiership they are very good value. £33 for a kids s.ticket in the premier......?! The club also still have generous concessions which help most of those who struggle to afford the prices. Hands up who was desperate to see Hucks join permanently, and was amazed when Svennson+Mckenzie joined as well? Sorry mate, but with our club taking a big gamble and at last showing real ambition i think its a bit off to complain about paying a few extra quid!
  13. The obvious counter to that is that the structure which err`burnt down` was much larger than the one which replaced it. Even allowing for the fact that regulations may have changed, Chase`s response to critics at the time was that another tier would be added if demand and finances were there, so the `couldnt build any higher` argument doesnt really ring true does it? Im quite prepared to admit that the value of the land Chase acquired has given the club a considerable,if belated, boost. However, although you seem enamoured with the man im sure not even you would endow him with with the almost magical foresight to predict the amazing boom in land prices over the last few years?! And, although im almost incredulous at having to repeat this to a supposed NCFC fan, have you forgotten that the route taken to achieve this eventual reasonably-sized `golden egg`led to the club nearly going bust and-almost as importantly-alienated a huge percentage of the local football loving public? The main argument against Chase was that if you have an ambitious, progressive, open and fan-friendly approach then you will attract more support/sponsorship, gain more goodwill and revenue, and get on an `upward spiral` rather than the decidedly downward path we were on after the post San-Siro debacle. I think events after his demise prove this argument totally correct. By the way M.G., did you believe Chase`s often repeated mantra of "Norwich City only have a catchment area of 120,000"? Because if thats the case around 20% of them are now season-ticket holders!!!
  14. Good post smiler. I must admit i cant be bothered to argue with such ignorance any more, i reckon its just `Greg Norman` on the wind-up again anyway. Just one point though Blueblood, if you are so concerned and hurt about peoples impressions of scousers being a bit thick and confrontational, why do you come on other clubs message-boards perpetuating the stereotype??
  15. That`s interesting, i remember that being mentioned when people were up in arms over how small it was, but have since been told it was just one of the fat b******`s (thats FAT scousers!) usual smokescreens. Did he really say the main stand, not the south? Did he say if he thought it would be expensive? I must admit a 2-tier main stand linking up the roofs of the Barclay and N+P stands sounds fantastic!
  16. Yep,that stand says it all about Ch@**`s supposed `ambition`. How silly does he look now people in their tens of thousands are desperate to watch City? We`re taking more to Wimbledon than our `Main Stand` holds!
  17. Beelsie, I didn`t join in with the Rooney chant because-and this may come as a surprise to you-I, like all vocal supporters, have a capacity for independent thought and in that particular situation i did not get as wound up by his antics as some of my fellow supporters. I have however, sung abusive chants at Muscat (deserved),various referees during `dodgy` performances, former City players who have slated the club which trained and brought them through, and i feel a one for Everton`s safety officer would be most appropriate for the unnecessary damage he has caused. SOME abusive chants are unnecessary, but realistic football supporters accept that those supporters who get loudly+passionately behind their team sometimes get carried away. In fact,if you dont take things too seriously and no harm is done, getting a bit emotionally carried away can be really good fun! But then again, i guess it`s easier to sit quietly enjoying the fruits of other people`s efforts (ie. a good atmosphere), whilst poised ready to criticise at the first opportunity eh? Regarding your `visions` post, maybe you should consider that forming negative preconceptions about people on the basis of very little evidence stems from exactly the same limited mental processes that produce racism. But as you seem so fond of it,maybe i should have a go....... Imagine, folks, Carrow Road filled with 16,500 Beelsie`s......The slight rustle of thousands of warm blankets, an occasional `pop!` and gurgle when flasks of warm, unalcoholic beverage are opened and consumed, a smattering of polite applause for a good move or tackle, even perhaps, the odd `hurrah!` when a goal is sco....................ZZZZZZZZZZZ
  18. Point 1) Latest reports state that the police have denied hearing any racist chanting. The people persisting with the allegations are national press reporters,a safety officer, and stewards. I would therefore suggest that it is safe to assume that these people were, unlike the police,in other parts of the stadium and misheard a chant which only lasted a few seconds and was aimed at Rooney, not Yobo. Point 2) See point 4. Point 3) I believe you are referring to a post by a Norwich fan that 3 people behind him tried to start a chant "I`d rather be a Paki than a Scouse" and that people around them immediately got them to "shut up". I think that in anyones terms they FACED THE ISSUE! Point 3) Disgracefully, you appear to be trying to link the throwing of a plastic bottle on to the pitch with racist behavoir/chanting. The throwing of a bottle cannot be condoned, but to try and use that to back up an unproved assumption that there was a problem with racist chanting at the game is pathetic. Your argument would carry more weight if you stuck to it. You seem to be implying that there is now some sort of cover-up going on, which is as offensive to Norwich fans as the original unsubstantiated allegations. BELIEVE ME, if these allegations were true these boards would be FULL of people expressing their shame and disgust at the antics of fellow Norwich fans-and i would be among them. Has it not occurred to you that if the Merseyside police, many well-respected members of the City contingent-including an off-duty police officer, and-apparently-most Everton fans on other message boards, think that there has been a mistake that,in fact, there might have been one? And i think City fans have every right to "draw ranks" to defend themselves against damaging and false allegations. "Whether you like it or not you are now tarnished": yes, it seems we are, mainly because of people like you, who seem prepared to jump to grand assumptions before any proof has been given. Hopefully this debacle will be cleared up by the powers that be listening back to a recording of the game. Having been there, with many friends dotted around the away section, i am 100% CERTAIN that our innocence will be proved. I trust that in that event you will have the good grace to come on here and apologise.
  19. "I do applaud a good move or a good tackle from any side and occasionally shout when a goal is scored"!! Assuming this is not some tongue-in-cheek windup Beelsie, can i ask you whether consider yourself to be a supporter or a spectator? I,for one,was proud of the massive City support at Everton and particularly the fact that it was loud, intimidating and most of all PASSIONATE. Ok,things certainly went over-the-top with the bottle-throwing and i for one did not join in the abuse of Rooney (there was no racism) because i felt it unnecessary, but please read the comments from Mssrs Flemming+Drury today. Do you think their effusive comments were aimed at those who travelled up to sit and watch a nice game of football and politely applaud both teams, or those who did everything in their power to let the boys know we were behind them? Give me 1 noisy, passionate fan-even if they do sometimes get carried away-above 10 "refined" nuetral spectators any day. I wonder if Worthy+ the team would agree with me on that, eh Beelsie??
  20. Yes i think getting the infills built would be the most sensible option. I know they were talking about a hotel in 1 corner but this seems to have gone quiet. The 2 infills would take capacity to about 28,000-still not big enough for Premier or big cup games but not bad-,should be relatively straightforward to build, would make the ground an impressive `stadium`+ would improve the atmosphere. I`ve no doubt we could sell well over 30,000 tickets for big games but the club must be careful not to do a Sunderland or Sheff.Weds- their grounds are just way too big when times aren`t so good, and it must be dispiriting having a half-empty stadium each week. Anyway, we`re not there yet so get behind the boys-especially in the dodgy spells,of which there will be some- and we`ve got a hell of a chance!
  21. I`ve lost count of the number of times i`ve bounded down to the front to celebrate cos the players have run over to us. Also,my mate who sits at the front is often subject to mickey-taking cos hes always getting on the tv highlights+press pics after goals..... Anyway,i`m not really serious-both areas are good for vocal support+ i reckon the `sandwich` effect often gets the whole end singing.......Its just the snakepit has less spots+a better dress sense......!!
  22. Hey, Ronbol. Have you noticed how the players nearly always run to the snakepit to celebrate when they score (including Hucks v Cardiff)? Funny that isn`t it.......? Maybe they dont want to be seen mixing with with acne`d muppets.......
  23. 0-4!!! And the Scum lose 1-3!!! I`ve supported City 19 years and i honestly think the excitement of this spell is up there with anything I`ve witnessed over those years. Promotion isn`t a foregone conclusion,we`re gonna have dodgy spells, but as long as everyone sticks behind them what a chance we`ve got! COME ON!!!
