  1. I blame Roy Keane and now Gary Neville.. I remember that Keane was one of the TV pundits at the end of Summer 2012 when Man City were playing in Europe. Hart was, up until that game , a very safe pair of hands, but he had a poor game and Keane blistered Hart and accused him of arrogance. Hart has not been the same player since and now Gary Neville is sticking the boot in.Neville should remember that his Man Utd days are behind, the English FA pay his money now, I couldn''t give a t**ss about Hart club form, but while he is England''s no 1, it matters a little to me.
  2. If Chris Hughton goes, he won''t be replaced by Steve Maclaren. He''s just got the Derby job! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2439416/Steve-McClaren-named-Derby-boss.html How come it''s always the same old names ?
  3. I actually agree with you about Trevor Francis and Stuart Pearce for that matter. Looking back to when Paul Lambert left us, I actually wanted Malky Mackay to take over, but he was dismissed out of hand by the majority of forum contributors here. It has to be said that many people here wanted Chris Hughton because so many people felt sorry for him after he left Newcastle. If you really look at managerial appointments, how many work out or is it all a matter of luck ?
  4. Peter Taylor, do you mean Cloughs old mate, or the ex Spurs/ Southend player ?. As for Trevor Francis, does he even work for anyone now ?. We could bring Archie Gemmill, Colin Todd, Brian Laws, Frank Clarke and Roy Macfarland into the equation, but none of them have really been a success for long. If you are desperate, you could include Gary Megson , but he is not a Clough man, as Clough did not have a good word to say for him.
  5. With the possible exception of Martin O''Neill and to a much lesser extent, Stuart Pearce, how many people connected with Brian Clough have gone on to managerial success?.
  6. Apart from the Irish Republic (Possibly) he never gets linked with any job Surely the only reason that Bruce and Hughes get jobs is the hope that some of Fergies magic has rubbed off.
  7. Could it worsen the situation we believe we are in now ?. Anyway Martin ONeill must be a great manager, Paul Lambert said so !, call''s him the gaffer doesn''t he !.
  8. He now has perhaps the most difficult job in British football, replacing Sir Alex Ferguson. The red faced one sits in the directors box almost like a Vulture and is one helluva hard act to follow. It was the same when Sir Matt Busby retired and there were a long line of unsuccessful replacements before the success returned to Old Trafford with Fergies appointment in 1986. Still Moyes has a reported six year contract to get it right. I wonder if he will see it through ?
  9. Yes, but if we win the next game, you''ll all be saying that he is the greatest Manager ever and we are all "Pant wetters".
  10. Just what can the board do to help him turn it around ?. With the transfer window closed until January we can''t sign another player. The board does not contain any more knowledge of football than an average fan. Maybe we need a senior figure to help him, an Alex Ferguson, Yes! a Joe Kinnear, No!. Is Chris Hughton the type of man to take advice, would it even help.? . I suspect that he will stay for the rest of the year but will it be too late ?. HUGHTON FOR IRELAND. the perfect solution and provides us with compensation!
  11. Until the international break, following the Chelsea game on October the sixth.
  12. If we do take on a foreign manager, let it be one who can speak decent English. It was bad enough with Peter Grant.! I know that many of our foreign legion speak better English than we do, but surely the Manager has to have a rapport with his customer base (the fans). When you consider that many fans shuddered when the names of Malky Mackay and Steve Bruce came up when PL left. They have both been succesful since. Another name that has been mentioned in the past and was rejected by the fans, how about Paul Ince ?, vastly experienced and doing a decent job at Blackpool?
  13. I was a pant wetter last season and was surprised when we stayed up. We have only played two games this season and already lost one. Now many of you are after Hughton''s head already. Surely the time to have parted with him, was after last season ended and we had not spent a reported £ 25 million plus. A new management team surely wants and deserves to sign its own players and enjoy a closed season to mould a team together. For better or for worse we have to give Hughton and his cohorts until at least Christmas to sort it out, after all said and done you all seemed to think he was the greatest thing since sliced bread not so long ago, maybe he is. Let''s hope so !
  14. Maybe John Ruddy had enough of being a bench warmer when he moved from Cambridge to Everton a few years ago ? One first team appearance for Everton plus nine loan clubsin five years before he came here. I really hope that he stays, he has a talismanic effect on the side.
  15. So you don''t want him then !. How about Nicholas Anelka ? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2352612/West-Brom-hunt-Premier-League-journeyman-Nicolas-Anelka.html
  16. I will have to go into hiding. The future of Norwich City is tied to one individual , like never before. Just supposing RVW is a flop. Is there a plan B bearing in mind the dreaded transfer window ?. So many of you want to see the back of Grant Holt, you have no faith in the untried Luc Bechio, which leaves James Vaughan, who would rather be anywhere else. Is it right to pin all hopes on one man?
  17. Taking advantage of the fact that I can''t be identified, I will confess to drinking 4 pints of Guinness a day. If I didn''t I would be so p****d off I would have to take some form of medication to raise my spirits. Maybe I''m wrong, but aren''t Wine and Spirits more harmful ?. I have never touched either.
  18. Tony Martin, got a powerful shot ! Ever thought the close season would drag this badly ?
  19. Delia was offered a life peerage by Tony Blair and she refused it. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/profile-delia-smith-739107.html She does have a CBE.
  20. To be honest, I can''t see CH ever jumping ship unless it was for the Republic of Ireland job.
  21. Many papers are speculating that Paris St Germain are trying to recruit Andre Vilas Boas as their new boss. Given his Spurs connections, would Chris Hughton be a candidate as his replacement ? Would you care if he went ?
  22. Pape Diop, signed by Bryan Hamilton. Was it true that he saw Pape'' Diop only on video and then went on to sign the wrong player ?.
  23. I wouldn''t say that England were really brilliant 20 years ago. But following the World Cup in Italy in 1990 in which we finished 4th, expectations were a damn sight higher than they are now. If only we hadn''t screwed Bobby Robson about over a new contract, who knows how England''s future would have turned out .He would have known how to handle Paul Gascoigne and how to get the best out of the "Golden generation" whose careers are only now finishing. How the hell could the FA have preferred Graham Taylor to Bobby Robson ?. It should also be remembered that the Premier League came in on the back of Englands success at Italia 90 and the popularity that it generated. It wasn''t that long before when it would not have been the commercial success that it became due to Hillsbororough, Heysell and Bradford plus the hatred for Football that so many politicians felt. I feel that football fans need to ask themselves whether they want a succesful National team at all, while we still have some degree of native participation in the game.
  24. I can''t see it happening, myself, but Steve Bruce is not exactly "Mr Loyalty". If it does happen, I would feel desperately sorry for Hull City who gave him a job when nobody else wanted him.
  25. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2335918/Wigan-hope-bring-Steve-Bruce-Wigan.html How bizarre if true, the man we wouldn''t consider last close season is apparently under consideration according to the Daily Mail, for a return to Wigan to replace Roberto Martinez.
