1.

Are the salaries of the top footballers as obscene? Just as they are at the top of their profession he, arguably, is at the top of his. But, after saying that, strangely enough I agree his salary is obscene but I also think top professional footballer''s salaries are as obscene or possibly more so. At least Lineker is ''one of our own'' and not a European or African import as many of the footballers are and, same argument LDC, you''re not going to tell me that there are not English born players, who could be just as good as some of those imports, who do not get the chance because of them are you?
Surely the point is that footballer''s salaries are paid by private companies. If they decide to spend millions on a player then they have to fund it themselves through loans, sales, income etc. Your taxes are not involved at all. The BBC is a publicly funded body and these salaries are being paid for by us. As LDC rightly points out we do not need to spend millions of pounds in order to attract someone with the qualities of Chris Evens or Lineker.
Hurray! Someone has finally hit the nail on the head and got the point.
 2.
So he presents Match of the Day. Wow. Is the BBC that insecure about the programme they feel they have to pay out that much for a nice bloke to present it? Sue Barker is a far more consumate sports presenter and is on the box far more than Mr Lineker and gets a fraction of what he does.
See above response
 3. The muppets who pay him? Effectively, that''s us, the licence fee payers. The BBC has always been (and probably always will be) a massive gravy train which is absolutely wonderful for everyone who is able to get on it.
 4. There is one big reason for that. She''s a woman!
 5.
I think it would be nice to be linked to a player that I''ve actually heard of at some point, we seem to be taking a hell of a lot of punts!
Why would it be nice? Does it make it better if you''ve heard of a player?
 6. I regret to say that the difference between the two sides was massive. One knew how to play football and what they were doing. The other was England.
 7.
Excessive, and should get reduced on appeal.
I bet it doesn''t
 8.

I swear until this season I''d never heard this weird argument espoused by some on here that you can separate the home from from the away form. Football just doesn''t work like that.
I think I understand it more than the attitude of some on here that an interview in The Times and poor away form equated to showing no attacking intent at Carrow Road. Webber seems to have ruffled a few feathers. I expect he ruffled a few more by bringing up the disgraceful treatment of Jacob Murphy. Not sure I agree with him. I think he may live to regret it as criticising supporters is usually the fast track to St Andrews Hall. But it''s entertaining nonetheless...
As always, he will be judged on results. He can more or less say what he wants if the Club wins next season''s Championship and establishes a permanent presence in the Premiership.
 9.
I thought the comments regarding Alex Neil being in the commentary box were unnecessary. Alex has a promotion, Wembley win, and year in the Premiership under his belt. This bloke has never held this position before, therefore has no track record of success in his post. He appears to have played a bit part in short periods of mediocrity at a number of clubs. I hope he is as good as he thinks he is, because I see nothing concrete supporting his opinion of how he is the man to re-shape Norwich City. He is as much a gamble as Alex was.
It might have been unnecessary but it was true. A failed year in the Premiership followed by a failed year in the Championship. He''s lucky he lasted as long as he did.
 10.
I can see most of that starting 11 being here next season. Doubts would be Dijks (loan), Martin (past it?) and Josh Murphy who I feel is too light weight. Out will go Tettey, Mulumbu, Whittaker, Jarvis, Bassong, Turner, Lafferty and possibly Hoolahan if Webber''s talk on Friday night about an old squad suggests age will be a factor. I also expect it will be quite a ruthless cull, and I doubt we will raise much in the way of transfer fees for the above players either. He has not minced his words by talking about past mistakes and commenting that is why AN is in the commentary box, not the dugout. He certainly comes across as the one who will be in charge and the coach will be expected to deliver a type of footbal, and an attitude from the players that is laid down. Not before I would say.
I bet you were one of those who said Andrew Surman was "too light weight". Or was it too lazy?
 11.
Let''s hope he has the same success as David McNally.Once again, it seems Delia has chosen wisely.......
Like you mean with Moxey?
 12.
That maybe so, but I''ve never seen Canos classed or used as a defender or keeper, ie the roles that have mostly underperformed; he was quite reasonably understudy to his preferred roles.
The whole team has under performed. They win or lose as a team. How many times have we seen strikers/midfielders stand watching at corners as they allow players they are supposed to be marking win unchallenged headers. It would seem that there was some sort of clash between the manager and the player. It became obvious from quite an early stage that he wouldn''t be given a chance. That''s football!
 13.
Like a new manager will bring in new staff a new Sporting Director will also do the same. Darnbrough and Spearing were always doomed. Surprised about Martin as he was name checked in the press release. Why people have it in for Ricky Martin I will never know - the man behind Norwich securing a Cat 1 academy. Hopefully Webber won''t just surround himself with his own pals and create an echo chamber.
Is it because he lives in Mulbarton?
 14.
Whereas Pritchard is an example of our good recruitment? We buy a player with potential. Because other squad members perform better than we might have hoped, he finds himself at the bottom of the queue for his position and we let him go. You would prefer he had just turned out to be sh*t?
In fact, the other squad members have performed so well that the club looks like achieving its three stated objectives, does it?
 15.
''I wasn''t aware that Roger Whittaker played golf. What''s his handicap?''having to play with a guitar
Our temporary left back often looked like he was playing with one! How unkind!
 16.
Jeez, how many more times will we see this thread?! I was dead pleased when we signed him as saw him a lot last season - it didn''t work out, he didn''t quite ''fit'' for some reason but that''s life, good luck to him. The simple fact is that he was playing poorly in the u23s so quite why we''d have played him in the first XI I''m not sure. Even at Brentford, where they love him, he is almost legendary for his lack of stamina and runs out of puff after an hour, is always subbed on about 70 mins. AN clearly saw the potential but quite reasonably wanted more
An example of our poor recruitment?
 17.

How many starts did he get here ? One to regret I think and Maddison must be loving it too at Norwich. Can''t blame any young lad who turned us down in the future as the potential for being given a run of games is zero .
If "the potential for being given a run of games is zero" then why the **** are we buying them and paying their wages?
Is this what they mean when they tell us that the recruitment hasn''t been very good? You identify a potential player, you do your research on him (due diligence), you pay a load of dosh to get him here, you give him a healthy contract (I assume), then you apparently forget that you have him amnd get him to do nothing.
 18.
I play golf 5 days a week and as it was the day after the game that Whitts said he was not playing against Reading I mistakenly stated Wed as we normally play Tuesday. Point is Maddison left in a huff Believe it or not I could not care less one way or the other he''s just another spoilt kid
I wasn''t aware that Roger Whittaker played golf. What''s his handicap?
 19.
I like Jerome and applaud his work rate but Oliveira is a much better finisher.
Play them both.
 20.
He was an impact manager ... no more no less. The excruciating mistake was clinging on on him and hoping that the deterioration would stop. The crime was not learning from the decaying days of Worthy and Hughton that once the rot sets in you have to act ruthlessly ... nomatter how nice the manager is as a person. By sone accounts Lambert wasn''t the most pleasant character to have around ... but look at what he did.
In other words, they did what they always do. They dithered. Something they do better than anyone else.
 21.
It is not a good idea for Irvine to change anything much. He will want to keep players on side and if he starts making wholesale changes, the risk would be a complete meltdown in morale - and it must be pretty low at the moment anyway. The risk of making things worse is too great and the best we can hope for is that the players sort themselves out and get some inspiration - or a bit of luck to change our fortunes towards the end of the season. It is still not impossible to get 6th place and if by some miracle we beat Huddersfield and other midweek results go for us, it will be definitely on again. Slim chance, but stranger things have happened in football. We are not the only club where players bottle it or lose their confidence - all players in all clubs are susceptible and Sheff wed, Fulham and Preston will start to feel the heat as the pressure mounts. Having said all that, I hope Maddison and Godfrey get some minutes in and stake a strong claim to be included, at least from the bench.
Keeping the players on side!!!! ?? The risk of making things worse!!!! ?? I really wonder what planet you''re living on.
