1. I''d also like to go for AFC Flyde to beat Coleshill Town at home please. Unbeaten in six matches and not conceded in four. Best of luck to all.
2.
Heartbreaking ! feel for the guy''s, would have been great to see all of our international players at next years Euro''s, at least Wessi and Brady will be there.
FYI, Hoolahan and Brady haven''t qualified yet with the Republic of Ireland, they''ve got a huge game against Poland on Sunday. Win or draw 2-2 or better and they''re through, otherwise they have to fight their way through the 3rd place qualifiers.
3. This week, I''m going for De Graafschap v Feyenoord AWAY win, in a bottom versus second clash. For Norwich, over 3.5 goals in the match. Best of luck to all the PUPs, especially Swindon and Lappin. And, as ever, thanks to NN for keeping this going.
4. Not sure why you''re bringing refugees into a discussion about football finance, Indy, so I''ll leave that be. But in relation to your other points, not all ex-footballers can easily adjust, or have the knowledge, to change careers, being that most have dedicated their youth to learning to play football and not education, although this is changing. In terms of the working men point, of which I''m guessing your previously mentioned doctors and senior managers are discounted from, and is concerning only a select few players at the top of the game who are capable of earning millions, it''s not nice to see such disparity. Neither is a chief exec getting a 500k bonus. But whether it''s enough you''d have to ask them. As I said, there''s a ridiculous amount of money sloshing about in certain parts of the game. If the FSF are able to start a chain reaction that will see prices reduced across the board and allow those who can''t experience sport first hand due to the costs then great.
5. Doctors and senior managers normally get to do their job for a lot longer than 15 years, Indy, which is the average for most footballers. Don''t blame them for trying to maximise their earning in that period, but that''s a different argument to the ridiculous amounts of dosh flowing through certain parts of the game.
6. What''s lazy or amateur about raising a well-researched piece concerning our weakness against set pieces considering that''s how we lost the match? You complain about them not watching the games and then you''re provided with an informative assessment of our frailty but because it''s negative you want to grumble. Not everyone looks through the same heavily tinted green and yellow specs as you, LDC. And, in relation, to your reference that referees treat ''less fashionable clubs'' badly with ''the way penalties are given etc'' did you see how many goals Spurs scored against then top of the table Man City from offside positions this weekend?
7. So you''re in agreement that distances have decreased, then, Parma ;) Although I don''t see where you''ve explained how what I said is not true. If anything, you''ve merely expanded my original post...
8. Parma, just a note re the comment about players covering more ground: the average PL distance has actually been decreasing over the last couple of season due to a combination of possession football, importance placed on transition and an emphasis on winning the ball back immediately, which has meant the number of km''s expended each match is reduced. In turn, the number of sprints has increased, hence the requirement these days for pace.
9. Not surprised, but definitely seems harsh, that Wes doesn''t start. Been in great form so far this season and proved he''s not a ''luxury player''.
10. I''d stick with Jerome as the striker, encourage him to make lots of runs and use his pace to stretch the Liverpool defence, in turn allowing our midfield and marauding full-backs to benefit from the space created. Liverpool''s CBs have been their biggest weakness so far this season and we should try exploit it as best we can.
11. That stat was definitely true before last week''s round of matches - haven''t seen since. And correct, it comes from Opta.
12. Best of luck all. This week I''ll go for a Real Madrid win please. And for Norwich, Redmond to score any time.
13. Hell hath no fury like cricket fans quarrelling over the concept of ''the spirit of cricket''. If only those that clearly care so much about the sport spent their time on more useful pursuits, such as asking how the ICC was allowed to be taken over in a coup by the three richest nations, who are subsequently shrinking the game, and now give their own countries a bigger share of the organisation''s income, for example.
14. CityAngel, could you point me in the direction of where the report''s been shown to be rubbish please? Also, for those arguing about trusting the paper, it was the local Sheffield ''Star'' that contained this morning''s VIP box report, not the national ''Daily'', in case that makes a difference.
15. If it is not true, as Hooper claims in his Tweet, then you''d expect him to sue The Star for libel. If he doesn''t...
16. It''s not as if we didn''t try to buy Wilson last season, we even had our bid accepted, but he picked Bournemouth because he was guaranteed to be their leading striker.
17. While on point about former players and the current system trend, Indy, if a player cannot adapt/learn new elements then they are, on the most part, worthless to us. The tactics Neil''s using demands a player to ''put themselves about'', hold up play, link with midfield as well as score - RVW offers us few of those, sadly.
18. £10m really isn''t the starting point for a Premier League striker, especially when the striker we''re trying to purchase hasn''t yet played in said league or tested himself against equivalent sides in say the early stages of the Champions League like some overseas talent. Wickham cost £7m; Murray is an option under £10m; Andre Gray, who is similar to Afobe, cost £9m. While I don''t want the board to make the same striker mistake as we did in 04/05, if we pan to Wolves'' quote, we''re entering the same level of money that has secured other teams the likes of Shaqiri, Rondon, Mitrovic, Schweinsteiger, Darmian, Wijnaldum, Ogbonna, Cabaye and Clyne.
19. That Nkoulou rumour comes from today''s Sun, which is more likely than the idea of team-mate Michy Batshuayi joining us.
20. Got my code through about an hour ago; it does stipulate about being an in-store purchase though.
21. Best of luck to all this week. I''m backing Real Madrid to thrash Sporting Gijon. And for Norwich, over 2.5 goals in the match.
22. It says on the link that you have to make three bets of £10+ to receive a code to get your free shirt. It doesn''t say what shirt you get though
