  1. I take it this post is a little tongue in check.. QPR were top this time last year and were v lucky to go up We have played all of 7 games after all, and anything can happen in Football. The bookies have us at 4-1 to win the league which is quite long but a recognition that to hold off the whole league will take some doing. If we are top on February 1 and have done good transfer business in the window then we can start to dream not mid September!
  2. I think you are getting a little over optimistic here, personally I will be delighted with 21 points. Middlesborough away is tough/v tough and you are assuming that we our jinx vs Fulham will be broken. Any more than 21 and we will have broken clean away at the top though and it is possible. The home fixtures plus Blackpool do look v winnable.
  3. The short answer is that we have gambled albeit in a mostly controlled manner. I would guess that we have made a profit of about of just over 3M in our dealings minus signing on fees. We will need to make a similar profit in January to break even this year I would guess, which we will be able to do if we want ie Redmond, Olsson and Hooper will hopefully be worth the same or more in January and we have replacements already in place.
  4. ]Because the system we''re playing makes us good, but not a real solid powerhouse, there''s room for improvement despite our good start, its always good to not get complacent. It would be preferable if we could find a way to make sure we have our best players playing to their individual strengths. Our best: Defenders- Martin, Bennett, Turner, Olsson Midfielders- Tettey, Howson, Redmond, Hoolahan (perhaps add BJ to the list and Ofoe-who knows) Strikers- Grabban, Hooper If we can play these players in their favoured positions, then surely as their the best players in the league we have more chance of picking up points. Teams need to fear us. --------------------Ruddy------------------ --------Martin---Turner---Bennett------ Redmond--Tettey--Johnson--Olsson -------------------Hoolahan---------------- --------------Hooper----Grabban-------- or -----------------Ruddy----------------- Martin--Bennett--Turner--Olsson -------------Tettey---Howson-------- Redmond---Hoolahan---Grabban -----------------Hooper---------------- Looking these potential teams it does worry me how Adams is going to keep them all sweet, lets put it this way, we have 5 players just signed, plus Hooper, Olsson and Howson to all compete for places in addition to the squad for last Saturday! i think personally that we our strongest team is Ruddy Martin Turner Hooiveld/Miquel Olsson Tettey Johnson Howson, Ofoe Grabban Hooper I don''t think you can break up the Tettey/johnson axis though that does leave us short of width. Subs Rudd, Whittaker, Hooiveld/Miquel, Hoolahan Lafferty, Redmond, J Murphy.
  5. "If more than 2 of these come to pass i will be very happy indeed Outs Redmond -7.5 Hooper 6.5 Surman 1.25 Bassong 2.5 E Bennett -1.7 Becchio -600k INS Ben Arta - Loan M Keane - Loan N Powell - Loan Ake - Loan Gnarby - Loan Miquel -1.5M Guidetti -4.75M We I can but hope Well 2 1/2 of these came to pass counting Becchio as a 1/2 as he has gone for 1/2 a season. i do think we need to send a few out on loan as our squad has assumed bloated proportions; As soon as the league cup match vs Shrewsbury is done I would like to see 3 or 4 of the young players McGeechan, Loza etc go out on loan for a few months. Are there any countries with the window still open as to further transfers out, thinking of Bassong here?
  6. like i said, its an investment, in a few more seasons he''ll be worth more than £9m. What other winger has got his pace and is as good as redmond? Sako at wolves maybe? 2 from Wolves Gnarby Ben Arta One Anthony Pilkington McCrandles if the hype is correct And that''s just off the top of my head, 6M is a very good deal 9M is order a taxi now money
  7. If more than 2 of these come to pass i will be very happy indeed Outs Redmond -7.5 Hooper 6.5 Surman 1.25 Bassong 2.5 E Bennett -1.7 Becchio -600k INS Ben Arta - Loan M Keane - Loan N Powell - Loan Ake - Loan Gnarby - Loan Miquel -1.5M Guidetti -4.75M We I can but hope
  8. ]not worth it You cannot be serious.... This would represent the best transfer deal the club has ever done by miles, i am currently praying that this is true
  9. I could be wrong but never has one of our players coped it on the grounds of such flimsy evidence. Where is the evidence of being a Prima-Donna? The supposed quote of Am I supposed to know who you are is hardly the worst thing i have ever heard, ill advised yes but hardly worthy of a total freeze out Where is the evidence that he goes "missing"? Yes he made bad mistakes vs Stoke and Villa but people have a very short memory, I can remember a lot of wonderful last ditch tackles (Wigan at home for example) and his part in our 10 match run. Before we know all the facts and in advance of a possible transfer to Palace lets cut the guy who for many matches looked our best ever defender some slack
  10. "]3m euro deposit with add on payments dependant on promotion
  11. I think I have untangled this one on another take We got 8.8M plus money due to player not being taken it its almost 10M but have had to pay about 3M Euros to FC Twente. So we are 6.41M up on the deal if you take out all the money paid and due, or another way of looking it £7.5M approx minus money due to player. I think this is why we had all sorts of different fees being bandied about yesterday. Loyalty payments as I understand it depreciate it due to contracts running out. So there would be so much due to Snodgrass going with 1 year left as opposed to Fer with 3 left. The payment to players on leaving and signing on fees has not been factored into our assumed player budget however. OUT Snodgrass - £7 M Fer -£7.5M When sell on factored in Pilkington 1.8M? RVW - £1.25M Loan fee INS Lafferty -3.95M? Jerome -£1.6M? Grabban 3M That''s £9M profit minus signing on fees say 500K and player loyalty clauses on leaving say another 1.5M. So my rough calculations we are up about 7M on total transfer fees? Sorry if this is a bit complicated, i think I am on the right lines?
  12. Sorry, can you explain it to me because i am still confused We got 11 M Euros according to Dutch Press 8.8M Up to 3M Euros is apparently going to FC Twente, does that come out of the 11M Euros or not? As I read we owed Fer some loyalty money but have saved on that due to his transfer and paid FC Twente that money plus a sell on. So we have got 8M Euros net plus a saving on money due to player? Correct??
  13. As a matter of interest are you going to get away scot free from the flagrant abuse of FFP or is this a treat waiting for you if you go down?
  14. Very good on his day and has good potential but not sure that he rolls up his sleeves when the going gets rough, i think we have got a good deal especially if its 10M He can be a box to box player, as to being sad about him going depends if we reinvest, Ashton leaving was a shock Eadie leaving was a day of mourning, this is a bit of a shoulder shrug
  15. Tettey Surman Garrido (1 year option presumably for Club to activate)
  16. On looking at the club site its a "record transfer agreement" so more than 8.5M for RVW This is actually a relief as the rumours were building of a failed medical, and represents good or if not earth shattering business. The signing of Cuellar makes a lot of sense but the Jerome one has left me baffled unless Hooper and or/Becchio is off or Adams sees Lafferty as an option out wide which he may do.
  17. He'' s finally gone SSN reporting 7.5M which would be disappointing Can anyone explain how we would make 2m based on the sale to us last Sumer?
  18. discounting Bassong,Becchio,Bunn and untried youngsters in the squad...we''re painfully thin for a season with a further 44 games to play? Ruddy Rudd Whittaker Martin Turner Garrido Olsson Bennett Johnson Howson Hoolahan Bennett Murphy Redmond Tettey O''Neil Grabban Lafferty Hooper 19 players.....only just filling a bench here...need at least 4 players in the next fortnight, unless we''re intending to go down the loan route from Premier League clubs when the loan window opens mid-September? i think 5 of the young players are good enough to be in the squad; Loza, Gaffatti, McGeechan and Morris (currently on loan) and Jacob Murphy. The other 5 kids who are pros certainly fall into the untried and untested. We need at least one more midfielder and defender. i personally would bring Bassong back into the squad and probably the team.
  19. "Adnams Out"]Norwich must be having a 40% off sale if £8m is accurate. This kind of forced sale indicates that other clubs sense we''re in financial trouble Don''t be stupid that is a 3.2M profit in a year for someone who did well but only in isolated patches. Its a good price, though I don''t feel we have mugged the buying party ie Snodgrass sale
  20. ]With the sale of Snodgrass and by the looks of it Fer and Surman, what do you think we need and if possible, any suggestions? Snodgrass= £8m Fer = £8m Surman = £1.2m = £17.2m e.g I think: 2 CB/RB = £4m 1 ST = £3m 1 LM =£2m 1 CM =£4 £4.2m leftover for January We have so far spend just under 7M and if the two sales are correct we will have received over 19M Snodgrass -7, Fer 8, Surman 1, Pilkington just under 2, Rvw 1.25 loan fee. This has the added bonus of reducing our wages to probably to 30M v approx. I think Leroy and Ricky along with Bassong and Ruddy are our 4 biggest wage earners, 2 off the books will make a big difference. Our further overheads cannot be more than another 12M, 1.5M on the Academy, 4M on staff wages, Agents fees possibly 1M, running costs 5M? Our TV money and other revenue (assuming a reduction on last year of about 25%), would give us revenue of about 45M. We would thus be looking at a small profit before our transfer dealings which would put us about 12M up. I think our budget therefore as it stands would be about 13M including wages for the 1st year. Can those who scrutinise the accounts more carefully than me say if I am in the right areas? Suggestions - Powell Man U, Ake Chelsea, Gnarby Arse (Well that''s who would I would like in an ideal world
  21. ]I''ll clarify immediately that I''m neither par But I''m an ncfc supporter who wants to see whoever sits in the hot seat be successful. Almost 30 years of supportIng us, throughout which history during that time tells me we have spent 15% of these seasons getting relegated, 12% getting promoted / 45% playing in the top flight, 48% in the Championship / utter highs (Milk Cup, 3 top flight top 5 finishes, Europe, Play-Off Final, Lambert successive promotions, 3 seasons in PL in an era far far away from that of 87-95. I''m rambling. But what that says to me is that ncfc offer a mixed bag. Plenty of ups, plenty of downs. Lots of entertainment in the sense that we never really know what to expect. Up one minute, down the next. Peaks and troughs anyone? (That''s always been my favourite phrase to describe ncfc for about the last 20 years!). That''s what we do, and it will never change unless some Sheikh decides to pay us a visit. What we do now have is a platform like no other to vent our views every minute of every day. Right or wrong, we all believe our opinion is that magic solution that will solve all problems that exist. For me, as a supporter group, we seem to be turning into a bunch of jumped up prima donnas, who think we are better than what we are - spoilt brats if you like. Everything we accused supporters of other clubs being just a few years ago (ah, they think THEY have a right to be in the PL, haha). And damned if we don''t get what we want, we will shout even louder. No doubt the same at the majority of other clubs, but this attitude for me is not helpful in the slightest. To log onto this site and see so many questions about Adams having to go etc, my god how ludicrous is that?! I know, let''s chop and change managers every other game. Of course, that will work, because I said so, hey? As I said at the beginning, I have no particular feeling either way to Adams, but the guy is in the middle of sorting through a relegated squad, with all the different situations that go with it. Many of which we may not be so aware of, financial issues, contract issues and the like. Adams has not finished at all yet, and we may have to wait until mid Sept until we can be sure of our squad for the season (remember the Champ emergency loan market opens a week after deadline day). My post is hardly going to make a difference but feel I need to get this off my chest. Would love some good healthy debate but there just seems to be far too much dummy spitting, childish attitudes that is making this site a turn off for me. Maybe I just secretly pine for the days again where the evening news falls through my parents door each night and I scramble downstairs to check up on who we may have signed. Either that or a cheeky quick dial up of club call without my dad cottoning on as to why his phone bill was a bit high -(44p here and there surely wouldn''t have stuck out?!). Is the internet message boards a good thing? In some ways yes, but when we as a supporter group need to have a bit more of a commonsense and measured approach, I''m afraid I''m getting a bit disillusioned. And before anyone mentions, that does not mean I''m an accepting happy clapper, as some would like to put it. What I do is try to see the bigger picture and think how the current challenges would be best dealt with. I certainly have a moan when I feel it''s right to but there are times when you have to patient in my eyes. Yes, Sundays match was poor, there''s no getting away from that, but to call for the removal of a manager after his 1st full time match, that a narrow 1-0 away defeat, well I just beggar believe as to where we as a supporter group are going. There, I''ve said it. Otbc I think that you would be absolutely right to say don''t panic if we were in the Premier League as we would only aspire to 40-45 points per season. In this league we are expecting 75 points plus so a bad start could leave us with too much to make up. That is why we sacked Gunn after 1 game and why Adams will be in massive trouble if we don''t win either of our next 2 home games, its simple mathematics
  22. I read that Pilkington has a year left so not sure the loan and £2 mil at the end would fit. Well quite, even we are not that stupid as he would just walk off on a Bosman next May. If its 2M it merely makes it a rank bad deal rather than daylight robbery. To sell for less than we paid for him (from a League 1 club is pretty disappointing)
  23. http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/2014/08/14/a-pilks-departure-has-been-inevitable-for-some-time-with-solskjaers-cardiff-taking-the-gamble/#ncfc This guy has been primed by Joe Ferrari or McNally or someone at the club, talk about trotting out the party line, poor journalism
  24. ]Militant - our best player two years ago wasn''t Pilks, but even if he was, it is like comparing apples and pears to look at him then and now. He was either injured or awful most of last season, you can''t dine out on having a decent season for ever, and he is in the last year of his contract, and for me he went from being an important player to one we won''t miss. Yet in the same period has got 6 caps for Ireland, says he is fully fit for the 1st time in a bit and is way better than Redmond on his day. This is a very poor piece of business end of and is such a poor fee that we probably need another sale to finance a good replacement.
  25. >It could be argued that Snodgrass was more than seven times more influential than Pilkington for us last season, so £1m for him is a good feeAnd, as others have said; it''s not just about the fee. You''ve got to take wages into account. If the move frees up some cash to sign a couple of better defenders or a decent midfielder than otherwise we could afford, then it''s very good business in fact. If you think 1.1M or whatever is good business for someone who was our best player 2 years ago and was interesting Liverpool etc then you are either David McNally, Clueless Adams or having been partaking of that excellent offer last night (was it called Purple Krush or something?)
