1. Our fixtures in the 2nd half of the season (give or take a couple of games) are the top half of the Division at home and the bottom half away. I know it''s tempting fate, but with the games we have remaining, the 6 points we''re behind QPR doesn''t look quite such a big gap
 2. Have you considered concentrating on supporting your team? I very much doubt that Paul Lambert will be impressed with us hounding an opposing manager.
 3. 4.
In yesterdays EDP under the heading, would you believe, Canaries Latest, Chris Lakey gives four columns devoted to Kevin Drinkell''s displeasure with Robert Chase. This is all about a possible transfer to Spurs 25 years ago !!!! Obviously the usual wheeler dealing was taking place particularly as the other party to the negotiations was the wiley cockney boy himself Terry Venables. Even Alan Sugar could not come to terms with his business dealings. Robert Chase kept us in the top teir, mainly by appointing good managers and judicious dealings in the transfer market. He certainly did not have anyone backing him with loads of readies from Saudi Arabia. The Club is now very slowly getting back on to an even financial keel because we have Robert Chase Mark 2 in charge i.e. David McNally a shrewd hands on businessman. He is offering 2011-2012 season tickets now. A bit cheeky but good business sense.I am sure "Chasey" will be proud of him. Two other points. I see NCISA members on another thread are even now still nasty towards RC AND would the EDP encourage any little bits of ancient criticism to appear directed to Delia and her luvvies. I don''t think so.
Judicious dealings in the transfer market.  What total nonsense!  Are you including the sale of Ashley Ward without even telling the manager?  In case you didn''t know, that sale was forced on the club by it''s bankers because of the perilous financial state we were in..  What about refusing to pay £250k for a goalkeeper to replace the injured Bryan Gunn.  That judicious piece of business got us relegated (you seem to have forgotten that Chase didn''t keep us in the top tier) and quite possibly cost us 10 years in the Premier League.  Chasee was judicious in some business dealings - he bought control of our club for £60k, paid himself £100k a year for virtually bankrupting it, then sold his shares for £7m!  When you talk about appointing good managers are you including John Deehan and Gary Megson? And by the way, have you ever wondered why Mike Walker and Martin O''Neill walked out of the door? The list of his incompetence goes on and on - he was simply bailed out by a good youth system and some good buys in the transfer market. By the way, you also seem to have forgotten that the EDP tried to force Delia Smith to sell her shares to Norwich City''s answer to Marcus Evans not so long ago. What colour is the sky in the world that you live in?
 5. I remeber the Peter Morris goal well, at least I thought I did.  I remeber a cracking 30 yarder, but several websites have it down as a fluke.  This one among others - http://www.wsc.co.uk/content/view/1295/29/ Does anyone have a video of the goal - perhaps it appears on a club compilation.
 6.

I still remember Morris''s goal. What a cracker that was. They were a good side but we had the run of the ball that day.
He didn''t score many for us but I remember he had a hard shot. I''m trying to think where he went on to be a manager. I remember he came at the same time as Johnny Miller. Both from ipswich and there''s a wonderful story that Millers fee hadn''t been paid when he scored the goals that beat ipswich in the League Cup Quarter Final the year we lost to Villa in the final.
Morris''s goal was a 30 yarder in the Barclay End. I remember Miller scoring virtually straight from the kick off in the River End goal but for the life of me I can''t recall who it was against.
The Peter Morris goal was at the River End
 7. Alan Taylor making a comeback and scoring some time after retirement to play in a Boxing Day game. Correct me if I''m wrong, but I think he was running a milk round at the time!
 8. Thanks for reminding me it was 3-1.  As for lack of style, I don''t think Aston Villa fans were moaning a few years later! I still think Saunders was probably our best manager.  He turned around an under performing club in a very short space of time with very little money to spend.  Similar to Paul Lambert, although Sir Arthur would probably prefer Lambert as far as style goes.
 9. The most interesting thing about this season is that there is a real possibility of Norwich and Ipswich meeting in the play offs.  Regardless of the history of both clubs, this would have to be the biggest game that either club had ever been involved in.  The truly frightening thing is going into a game like that and losing. The comments about attendances above are misleading.  At the last count, the population of Norfolk was 839,000 compared to 711,000 in Suffolk, so Ipswich have a potential customer base of around 15% less than us.  When you factor in their historically higher prices I think it is fair to say there is very little differnce between the clubs in terms of support.
 10. In what was Ron Saunder''s last game as manager of the club, we lost 3-2 at home to Everton and all the goals were own goals.  Saunder''s showed his disgust at the lack of funds available to him by bringing on Clice Payne as a centre forward.  Payne was actually a right back, and a pretty basic one. Or did I just imagine it? For wht it''s worth, I thought Kevin Bond was an extremely accomplisher footballer.  His record speaks for itself.  Perhaps some people made a judgement based purely on the fact that his father was the manager.
 11.
It''s not a problem. At first, I had been listening to Plan B''s album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, so that was in my head. I also thought, the team went out as heroes and came back as villains. So, in some sense, they were victims of defamation. Though I do see where you''re coming from! SP
Brilliant album
 12.
Sorry Morty but there is nothing wrong with this post, which is quite interesting apart from a certain team being top/quote] The fact they went on to win the 1st Division the following season is a bit of a pisser as well.  I suggest all posts that show the scum near the top of a table should be banned.  BlyBlyBabes should be taken out and shot as an example.
 13.
i always loved the doc and i was livid when he got the boot but just goes to show lambert knows much better than us  [:D]
What do you mean, he "knows much better than us" Please don''t include me in your misguided worship of Docherty.  He just isn''t up to Championship standard, which is why he didn''t sign for a Championhip club in the summer - no one wanted him.
 14. If they do sack Hodgson it will almost certainly be Martin O''Neill that gets the job.  A club of that size would never risk a manager with no top flight experience.
 15.
Kind of makes a mockery of all this "enormous gulf between the Champs and the Prem" guff.  Just goes to show what can be achieved with passion, belief, team-spirit and commitment.  Well done Blackpool, you are showing us all what is possible.
And none of their squad is on more than £10k per week I''ve just looked at one of their message boards and there are congatulatory messages being posted from all over the country.  It''s not just us that hates Liverpool!

 17.

[20 miles of the most boring countryside known to mankind in between.
Bad dog! Take that back, to wherever you found it. Naughty boy.
Sorry, no offence intended.  Can I go for a walk now?  Preferably not on Halvergate marshes.  I can live with the landscape, but there''s a bit of a funny smell.......
 18.
Sorry but I stand my previous observation, how much would you need to be paid extra to go and live in or around Bolton, double, treble, quadruple? Still I’m due a call from him provided he’s till there about the Mastodons arrival and its need for no less than three seats, I’ll ask him.
There''s actually some beautiful countryside around Bolton and you''re not far from the Lake District, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales.  We, on the other hand, have Mile Cross, Gt Yarmouth and 20 miles of the most boring countryside known to mankind in between.
 19.

Despite Delia''s dumbing down.... football is a man''s game played by men and any strong language overheard in the ground is commonplace in the school playground out of mummy''s earshot. The day swearing becomes outlawed will be the day the luvvie wins and football as the ''people''s game'' dies.
What the hell has it got to do with Delia? You don''t see many football club owners pissed as a parrot on the pitch at half time!
Indeed..... but if you or I had done it I suspect a life time ban might have ensued..... Smith has clearly fostered a squeaky clean ''family'' atmosphere in the ground and before long a bit of swearing will be a rejection from the ground offence.
But you and I don''t own the place. I think you''re getting a bit paranoid if you think that Delia has fostered a squeeky clean family atmosphere.  If she has tried, she has failed miserably, particularly in the Upper Barclay where it is unusual to pass comment on the game without swearing.  Personally, I think that the sort of intolerance that has been discussed on this thread has more to do with the state of society in general, probably resulting from 10 years of Blair trying to force his family and ''Christian'' values down our throats.

 21.
I''m getting increasingly worried that the play-off final is the week of my honeymoon.
For God''s sake man - what were you thinking of? It''ll cost a fortune to re-book
 22. Scummers are very touchy tonight!   http://www.twtd.co.uk/mb.php
 23. Sorry to tempt fate, but does anyone know the date of the 2011 Championship play off final?
 24. Not surprisingly, it is difficult to find a government website that answers this question, probably because everyone''s body is different.  The general consensus is that it takes around 1 hour to burn 1 unit of alcohol.  http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100211113156AAL0ef2 1 unit of alcohol is half a pint of 3.5% beer.  The levels were set years ago. and most beers these days are much stronger than that. For example, a bottle of Bud would probably take nearer an hour and a half to burn off.  The legal driving limit equates to around 4 units. Personally, I think this landlord is an absolute twat who doesn''t deserve a license to serve alcohol.
 25.
Repecutions? Lost on that one although I was able to figure out what you meant bu escilate (escalate). Perhaps we play 9/11 up more than anyoner else does because it happened to us so it stung a little deeper than, say the July attacks on the London transit did a few years later. We can''t help it if the rest of the world gets caught up in our drama, that is on the rest of the world''s shoulders. Stop minding our busisness and you wouldn''t be so upset by it. Why not focus on the Congo and the real, on-going tragedy there? It''s not as galmorous or chic, but it''ll make you just as angry, and for a real reason. If you don''t realize Hussein was a threat to the west then you are uninformed. He should have been removed because of the genocides he engaged in against the Kurds. He had already shown aggression against Kuwait once, and messing with the oil supply would have a major impact on your own lifestyles, moch more than it would on mine since we get most of our imports from places beyond the Middle East. So yes, he was a threat., WMDs or not.
The difference in attittude between 11 September and 7 July highlighted the difference between our 2 countries.  Londoners just shrugged their shoulders and complained about being late for work.
