  1. Yeah, the Sun article quotes Webber directly https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/14946436/daniel-farke-norwich-city-premier-league/ But Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber said: “The supporters do not need to worry. "I would be very surprised if he has not signed an extended contract by the time we kick a ball again in August.
  2. Our recruitment that summer always felt like we were buying whoever agents were trying to sell rather than trying to scout for positions. As Webber pointed out, when he turned up we had three number 10s and no left back. We ended up with Hoolahan, Naismith, Pritchard, the Murphys, Canos and Robbie Brady(sometimes at left back) and later Yanic Wildschut competing for three slots at various points in the season. Pritchard made 19 starts and 11 sub appearances He could have gone to Brighton, but we gave him a better offer. Then Brighton drubbed us 5-0 and finished 2nd, and we finished 8th,10 points off the playoffs I don't think his situation was that different from Jonny Howson. When Webber started our average wage bill was £28k, we had one season of parachute payments left and with a self funding model needed to transition to a cheaper squad. So I don't blame them for thinking that the club was going backwards at that time.
  3. Kenny Coker for the U-18s. Been on trial for us. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/norwich-city-kenny-coker-southend-united-7967370
  4. Reminds me of the Japanese proverb, ie you don't want to do all the heavy lifting just to pass it over to someone else Oda Nobunaga pounded the rice Hideyoshi baked the cake and Tokugawa ate it.
  5. Nah, he's announcing he's filling the chef vacancy https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2021/may/vacancy-yellows-grill-chef/
  6. Dozzell signed a new three year deal in December 2020, so I doubt there was any real Championship interest. Typical binners, over two years ago they genuinely wanted to go down to League One and rebuild with youth. Now Paul Cook's decided they all need to be taken to the knackers yard and melted down to make glue. From the EADT article - https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/ipswich-town-boss-cook-tells-players-to-move-7969388 "Cook has encouraged almost his entire squad to find new clubs this summer. That includes many players who are under contract for extended periods, such as homegrown youngsters Flynn Downes, Andre Dozzell, Luke Woolfenden, Jack Lankester and Armando Dobra. The list of players instructed to find new clubs also includes Teddy Bishop, despite the fact he triggered an extended stay in recent weeks, as well as left-back Myles Kenlock and goalkeepers Tomas Holy and David Cornell. "
  7. Based on the information in the Guardian article - I'm wondering if someone's pranked him? "The judgment, issued on 26 October, is for the online county court, whereby people owed a debt can seek recompense through a web-based form, rather than having to attend court. It is listed as an “unsatisfied record”, meaning it had still not been paid."
  8. as per this week's Private Eye, more for the Glorious Leader to ignore
  9. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/may/11/richard-keogh-awarded-more-than-2m-in-breach-of-contract-case-against-derby?utm_term=Autofeed&CMP=twt_gu&utm_medium&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1620738609 pretty sordid affair Keogh had sustained serious knee ligament injuries when he was in the car that his then teammate Tom Lawrence crashed into a lamppost after a night out in September of that year. He was dismissed by Derby for gross misconduct. His contract with them, worth a basic £24,000 a week plus bonuses, was due to run until June 2021. The car crash happened after a team-bonding day. Lawrence was over the drink-drive limit and so was Mason Bennett, now of Millwall, who had driven off ahead. When Bennett stopped his car at a give-way line, Lawrence went into the back of him before careering into the lamppost. They fled the scene, leaving Keogh unconscious. Lawrence and Bennett admitted drink-driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident when they appeared at Derby magistrates court. They avoided jail sentences but each was ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid community service and banned from driving for two years. Despite their criminal convictions, Derby chose not to sack them, although they did fine them. Both were unhurt in the incident.
  10. I don't understand Barnsley's mentality having already qualified for the playoffs, in a meaningless match they committed 23 fouls.
  11. As my history teacher would say, we signed the McMahon letter supporting an Arab state, had the Balfour declaration to support the Jewish reformation of Israel, and signed the Sykes-Picot agreement with the French to ignore both of them and carve the resources up between the two countries. Classic British diplomacy! 😛
  12. Pukki's had two seasons in the Championship and won the title on both occasions 😀 Nice achievement for Toney but pretty irrelevant if he doesn't get them up in the playoffs.
  13. The question mark though is how much control he insisted on having before taking the role. In July 2014 David McNally had set up his "footballing board" with Ricky Martin, Barrie Simmonds and the then manager Neil Adams. Partly due to the fact that Chris Hughton had been doing too much (McNally told a story of how Hughton had phoned him up at 11pm one night trying to agree a loan for academy player Cameron McGeehan) and partly because the RVW transfer had been so disastrous. ....and when Alex Neil was interviewed for the job - I think he set himself up to fail. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/550991/Alex-Neil-Full-Control-Norwich-City-FC Alex Neil demands full control of Norwich team affairs or he's out ALEX NEIL has warned he will only take the manager’s job at Norwich City if he is given full control of team affairs. But last night Neil insisted it is not yet a done deal that he will be named as the Canaries’ new boss today. Neil said: “I’ve got to be happy with the job description and what my role will be in terms of how much power I’ll have. “At Hamilton I’m the decision-maker and whatever comes or goes is through me. “I’m not going to be going for someone to tell me what to do, there’s no point in me going if that’s the case. “My description of a manager is he is the guy that manages the team and any players that come or go he’s the guy that makes the decision. “I’m not going to go there to be dictated to by someone else who will tell me what to do."
  14. I just discovered this was real, I thought you were taking the **** https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-57009557
  15. Swansea are in their third year of parachute payments (so receiving 20% compared to 55%/45%/20% of the previous years), think the bigger factor is that they sold Dan James, Oli McBurnie and Joe Rodon for £50m between them since they went down.
  16. No surprise if it's true, his wife has been desperate to get back to Norway for a while now. Great character and servant to the club, will be sorely missed.
  17. Don't think they've made a decision on him yet. When McGovern signed his new contract Farke said that either they extend Nyland or they look to get another No2 in.
