  1. *cough* that Stoke shot went straight through him, can't kick either 2-1
  2. Without the delusion over their history though 😛
  3. By the sounds of it isn't it just shops and public transport?
  4. Feels a bit stupid to me (this is from me skimming league tables, so I bet something's wrong) Only six clubs have never been relegated from the Premiership since its inception in 1992: Man United, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs Six clubs in the current Premiership have been in League One at some point since 1992: Southampton, Norwich, Leeds, Wolves, Brighton and Brentford Nineteen clubs in the Championship have been in the Premiership (only Preston, Millwall, Bristol City, Luton and Peterborough haven't) Seven clubs currently in League One have been in the Premiership: Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan, Ipswich, Charlton, Bolton and Portsmouth. ( I exclude AFC Wimbledon) Not that I particularly like Man United but if they've built their marketing and partnerships to the extent that they can achieve £500+ m a year in revenue, that the Glazers can take a healthy chunk out as profit (and a club like Leicester will struggle to hit £200m) and they want to buy a player for £100m, they why should they be propping up the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich and Bolton who are in their position because of financial mismanagement and shocking decision making.
  5. According to their local press Slaviša Jokanović was promised a lot and they only bought a few loan players in. Somehow Wilder ended up with 6 strikers (McBurnie, Brewster, Sharp, McGoldrick, Mousset and Burke) and no real wingers, since Wilder's overlapping centre back system and the wingbacks provided the width. Believe the Heckingbottom appointment is more about playing to Wilder's old system since they've still got the players for it.
  6. Didn't you get the memo? We only want whoever is higher than us, irrespective of their spending and overall plan. 😛 So now it's Brentford, but they've dipped a bit so we arguably need someone else.
  7. I believe that since Newcastle was old, and that the Saudi kingdom's Public Investment Fund has an 80% stake in Newcastle, and is chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, than the Saudi prince that owns Sheffield United is not looking to compete.
  8. I think this is the equivalent of seeing a friends wedding photos on facebook and realising you didn't know they'd divorced their last wife. 😛
  9. I can remember being a very naïve ten year old when John Lyall got them promoted and I genuinely thought it was good for the region, then the derby matches came and I hated them 😛
  10. I think when Paul Cook was appointed I always felt there was shades of Peter Grant, blame the players for everything, totally change the playing squad and go into reverse. For all the "big investment" Cook let it slip that they'd made money on the summer deals after shipping out Liam Gibbs (to us) and Dozzell and Downes.
  11. Feels like Cantwell and his agents have backed themselves into a corner. When we came up to the Premiership the first time we had four "crown jewels" Godfrey, Aarons, Lewis and Buendia. By the end of that season Cantwell had become the fifth. Michael Bailey did a detailed piece in the summer of our relegation under Farke back to the Championship, on how the club expected Buendia, Godfrey and Cantwell to leave and how the club didn't expect the valuations for Lewis or Aarons to be met. Godfrey and Lewis left, and moves for Cantwell and Buendia never materialised, arguably not helped by the Covid slump. Ending up with both Buendia and Cantwell being dropped for the Bournemouth game. Both knuckled down, we got promoted again and Buendia got his big money move to Villa. So Todd's still here but is still on the contract that he signed in 2019, and unlike the five year deals that everyone else signed, he only signed up for a three year deal with the club having the option for an extra year. It's 26 games left so a lot could happen, and Dean Smith isn't going to hold him back, but after Saturday it seems like Rashica and Sargant would be starting ahead of him. Simply because we looked better with them on the pitch.
  12. I watched the Leeds game and they were good first half, though Spurs were terrible. Spurs weren't convincing (though better second half) and Conte's celebrating made me think they'd won the league or something.
  13. Saw his post match interview, and really seemed like a broken man. I really don't like Man United, but he always seemed like an okay guy. His appointment was because he was a club legend that the fans wouldn't hate, but from a humane point of view, it's best that they part ways.
  14. But then who would you have played instead? Dowell dropped out late from a positive Covid test, and I can see why they'd be hesitant to start Sargeant there. Cantwell has more experience than Tzolis and I can't see them playing Rupp right wing again.
  15. Posted this on the Ricardo thread, but Dowell dropped out of the squad after a positive Covid test
  16. Apparently Dowell dropped out of the squad late with a positive Covid test, he's asymptomatic. Guessing he was trying to go like for like.
  17. Depends on the esport as they wildly differ, DOTA2 is awesome but watching League of Legends or watching someone play FIFA is like watching paint dry. Since darts and snooker are considered sports, and people are definitely competing, so it depends if you're entertained by it or not.
