  1. Byram went from £27m player to a 750k player overnight it seems - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49319480 Premier League new boys Norwich City got the steal of the summer. They bought Sam Byram from West Ham for just £747,000. He was valued at £27.7m by the selling club but is significantly lower for Norwich at £7m. They have still secured a player with Premier League experience for just over 10% of his monetary value though.
  2. Probably affected his confidence at Wellington Phoenix FC. I wonder if that one goal was against Michael Theoklitos 😄
  3. On Friday night, Cillian Sheridan - a former Celtic striker who earned three caps for the Republic of Ireland back in 2010 - kicked back and enjoyed Liverpool’s demolition of Norwich. Norwich City was the first club I went to on trial when I was younger. So I always look out for their results. And hope they get hammered. They didn’t offer me anything— Cillian Sheridan (@CillianSheridan) August 9, 2019 ...shame, I think we missed out there, he nearly banged 1 every 3 games in the Polish League with Jagiellonia Białystok. However, he wasn't so prolific for Wellington Phoenix FC in the A-League, hopefully he'll have better fortunes for Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona F.C. in the Israeli top flight although the standard is pretty strong there I'm sure. Bless. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cillian_Sheridan
  4. The away game I was most looking forward to...now just happens to be when I'm away although the Ryanair Pilots are doing their best to balls that up for me too. 😡 Double Turds!
  5. Quag could be the new Rhodes...cheeky deadline day purchase?
  6. sorry if this has already been said, but do the rules say we can we play all 3 loans (Fahrmann, Roberts, Amadou), or just 2 of them at one time?
  7. ...so? London based/can't get to Liverpool/at least we can make some noise cru'...who's going to Angel on Friday night? It certainly beats watching it in your London local where you;ll be outnumbered 1/10. Its our little corner of huum in tha big citteee.
  8. Todd Cantwell - it's very easy to knock your own BUT remember, a) he's still very young, b) Arsenal came sniffing a few years ago, c) I think he'll be the surprise package this season, regardless of what happens, d) he's played very well in pre season. *also - can you really see Farke (or any manager below Pep) starting 2 out and out wingers (Roberts + Onel) against Liverpool away?
  9. a looooong time ago, when I still lived in the beautiful City I was born in, there was a charity Fete at the local School in Catton and a certain world cup winner was there and you could meet him... And (as my grandad who took me there said), if you're a good boy, take a prooooograme, and he might sign it for you. I did just that, and I still have it: Yes ladies and gentlemen, in my 7 /8 year old mind I got Martin Peters to sign his name in my programme...the "obvious" space, just underneath the managers photo on his column...John Bond. My hero shook his head as i was so insistent that was the space to fill, himself and all the people around him laughed...whatever mate?!...took me years to work it out. Met lots since but that was the best. However*... (* a close second = Tim Sherwood and Malcolm Allen in a random (dodgy) South East London pub circa '90(ish) with a 5 minute quiz/stand-off moment after I walked up to chat to them because a) they couldn't work out how or why I knew who they were, b) me wondering why they were in a dodgy SE London "pre-rave" pub, c) them wondering how the f**k a young oik with a very "local" accent could support the glamourous team they both played for. I told them "1 reason only fella's I'm in it for the Trophies". 😉
  10. Nice one! So Dave Stringer is/was Ron Manager aka Whitehouse...whoknew?
  11. I thought Emi made the most tackles...no? He certainly was before his ban.
  12. IF (BIG IF) Hanley does go, this fella could tick the box. If seen him play and he does have it all. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/11767374/aaron-long-west-ham-offered-chance-to-sign-new-york-red-bulls-defender ... Would only be if the wages fit AND he doesn't go to a more "fixed" top flight club.
  13. "Question marks over if his dip in form is a temporary thing, or whether he has suffered a big loss of ability" I don't want to come across as a one of the negative lot...BUT...that sounds familiar. 🙊
  14. I'm with you on the "4 years in Israel", a daft move indeed. I've not played Football manager since a waste weekend in 2005 so I'm clueless on that one but maybe the reports and talk I heard on him was from said FM fans confusing fiction with fact. 😄 👍
  15. Bethnal, I wonder if you'd know or have a view about this? Reims bought the highly rated Rajkovic for £2.25m and are apparently now looking to move Mendy on for £8m+...so this begs the (my) question, why didn't we take a look at Rajkovic in the first place? He's hardly unknown and if we're looking at that kind on money then why not save 70% of it? Is it the experience angle?
  16. Looks like we didn't fancy le chap from Brentford. Just signed for QPR. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48683330
  17. I definitely thing it's worth trying Klose and Zimm with BG in front of them with TT in pre-season and see how we get on. Many of the best players around those positions can play both and I feel BG is that good he could do both. Time will tell on this.
  18. Now, as being one of those plastic, Cockerney types, I think this is great news! It makes up for all those years I had an away season ticket and spent lord knows how much on travel + tickets yet played far far 2nd fiddle in priority stakes to folk that popped to the ground every other Saturday and had a sponsored *silence for 2 hours (*tutting not included). 🎣
  19. My Spurs pal says they've been away 1st game 7 years in a row so he doesn't believe it. 😂
  20. Back of shorts replacing Shred Station maybe? OR on the arm et al Everton's "Angry Birds"? ...they missed a trick with not giving us the Angry Birds deal. Welcome to modern toss soccerball!
  21. aah, I see. That's why I don't have much to do with the company contracts.
  22. According to the Pink Un report today we have a 15% sell on clause and we'll get £5-6m if the selling price is £60m 🙈. Archant maths. 🤣
  23. ... Released by PL at 1p5swich. It's not really working out for him this football lark is it? Shame, I thought he was a prospect a few years ago. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48337199
