  1. I Have been calling for this formation all season, with our current personnel it is the only one that might give us a win. Its not 4-3-3 as some might suggest its just not playing huckerby up front. He has always been more effective coming from deep anyway and always plays out there anyway. So if we play him "upfront" invariably it means we have nobody in the box. Hopefully Nigel has come to his senses and can see that. It is glaringly obvious we dont have a premiership quality striker and I am dismayed by the fact we didnt sign anyone in the summer, we just have to pray January isnt too late. I understand what you say about Helveg although I have to disagree, at least he was trying to make defence splitting passes that didnt always come off, in my opinion our defense had an off day today.
  2. As I have said before I would love to be in a competative league (as long as we are competing) I dont think this premiership lark is all its cracked up to be. The only up side seems to be the cash and TV coverage. It would have been nice to have a premiership quality striker for this season.
  3. Glad you have a safe pair of hands at the back !
  4. Chris Sutton , no question. Loads of great players but none better than super Chris
  5. A1 your idea is simply A1,  I have been calling for it for a while lets hope we can get a bandwagon rolling, lets be honest the way he took his chance at Man U was more clinical than any of our other "strikers" and I also agree that Hucks would be more effective in a deeper role. Fingers crossed someone starts to find the back of the net soon.
  6. I also think they deserve a chance on the bench. After all how many times have the subs changed anything this season so far ?
  7. Ok so we are out of the drop zone which has cheered me up no end and there are definitely some positives to be taken from the performance. Jonson: Seems to be settling down at last and creating some chances. Helveg: Looked quality when he came on and his passing improved our general play. West Brom: Were as we all thought they would be a bunch of route one bully boys who created little and should surely be one team we can finish above. But. We had glorious chances and just couldn''t put them away, surely we wont play many more hapless sides than this ? Mckenzie: Always gives 100% but surely if he is a quality striker he should have put away at least one of the half dozen gilt edged chances he has had this season. Bentley: Much better performance against Portsmouth, but where was he on saturday ? I listened intently on the radio and watched the highlights, not convinced he actually played. Huckerby: I love to watch Darren run at defences, what I don''t love to do is watch him put sitters into the stand, he is not a striker please don''t play him upfront ( I am getting bored of saying it) Holt: Whilst he has improved in the last couple of performances it would have been difficult not to, I still think he has been poor this season and would hope he will be given a rest soon. Dream Team: Obviously would include a Striker who can score goals which sadly we don''t seem to have at the moment so  here is my dream team of what we have for Saturday. Green Edworthy Charlton Fleming Drury Jonson Helveg Francis Huckerby Doherty Mcveigh We need someone in central midfield that can pass a ball and if worthy is too scared to play Mulryne or Safri surely Helveg is the only option. I also think we need a big man upfront (unless we can get Scott Parker in central midfield for the rest of the season !) We need to hold the ball up otherwise we put to much pressure on our defense (Like the Liverpool game) All I want for Xmas is Chris Sutton or Dean Ashton ( I''d Settle for Brian Deane if he can still walk !)
  8. Ok so I haven''t posted for a while but I just thought I would ask this question to see if I am alone in the way I feel. I really enjoyed last season, in fact I have enjoyed most of the seasons we spent in whatever you want to call the division below this one (apart from when we had to put up with Brian Hamilton of course) but I have found the season so far disheartening to say the least. OK we have given a "good account" of ourselves on a number of occasions but we have not on one singel occasion so far this season looked like winning a game and frankly it makes me miserable. OK I would admit for the most part I am happy with our squad with the huge exception being that I think we should have sold our collective grandmother to ensure we had a premiership goalscorer. (this may be forthcoming in the transfer window, I only hope it isnt all too little too late by then) Anyway the question is this, do you really think that this is fun ? Would you honestly prefer a whole season of this compared to last season ? or indeed the ultimately fruitless play off season ? Maybe we should start praying now !
  9. I certainly dont think Hartson is any better than what we already have (and that doesnt say much for him !!) I think I''d rather have Rob Newman up front.
  10. Welcome to the foot of the Premiership, I suppose we should get used to it.
  11. Different players fit into different roles in various teams I am still confident Peter Crouch could have been the new Iwan Roberts for the next 10 years.
  12. I am still in the give Holt a rest camp, I would like to see Safri Given a chance as his passing would surely be more likely to create chances or if you want to be more defencive why not play Helveg alongside Francis surely his distribution would also be better than Holts.
  13. Good question YC. I for one am not enjoying this season as much as last, as I said I like to think that the team is competitive and I would much rather compete with the likes of Coventry than not with the likes of Birmingham. I dont go to watch Norwich for the silky skills of Henry, I go to see Norwich play, and lets be honest how ever valiant we have been so far in any of our games have we ever looked like winning one of them ??
  14. Poor old Norwich could only afford a transfer fund for there first season in the Premiership for ten years of £2 Million. Now I am a shareholder and get copies of the accounts but it is generally very difficult to get down to the nuts and bolts of where money has been spent from a set of accounts. Can somebody clarify the situation regarding the various we are skint statements. Firstly the amount of cash from the premier league seems to be shrinking almost weekly, independant sources prior to the start of the season put the figure including increased sponsorship somewhere in the region of 25-30 Million dependant on live games not the currently reported 15-20 million some 10 million shy of that figure. So what is the truth ?? Next the Losses from last year, do these figures include the cost of building the south stand if so am I wrong in thinking this was to be funded from the sale of the land behind the river end ? If so when is this money coming in and are we likely to see this accounted for in a future year ? Ok so we have been able to fund the new pitch at 750K (the equivalent of our most expensive signing) and 3 Mil for the corner infill (more than our total transfer budget) So where has the money gone ? I would be interested to know a breakdown of the increased wages and one off costs of bonuses etc that have had to be paid on promotion to get some idea. Our squad is now smaller than last season, none of this seems to add up. count the number of strikers we signed this summer (same as last summer !) 0 I''m not trying to start a witch hunt, just trying to understand the full situation to see where we have gone wrong. Letting Iwan go seems more and more premature every week ( and I was never a big fan !)
  15. Im not tring to reply to every post on the board honest, and yes I do have work to do ! I agree we must give Jonson time on the pitch, Potentially he is the most expensive player in our clubs history (not saying much given our history of spending money I know) but we need to know if he can come up with the goods and an odd few minutes here or there will never proove that one way or another.
  16. Well I guess I would rather come to Carrow rd than I would want to go to Anfield. After all even Palace got a result here.
  17. I agree we have to have other options up front thats why I keep advocating dropping Hucks deeper to give him somebody to pass to. Huge game coming up saturday.
  18. I couldnt agree more, Charlton for me is going to be player of the season, but we dont seem to have any more options upfront than we did last season and we are running the risk of sinking without trace without troubling other premiership defences. The reason we were under such pressure on saturday was because we hardly ever had the ball at the other end of the pitch taking the pressure off our defence. If we do have to go down , lets at least give it our best shot. If we are not prepared to do so we should stay in the Championship and god forbid we get promoted again, I for one will not "enjoy it" I would enjoy competing with the likes of Rotherham rather than not competing with the likes of Southampton. If we dont get a proven goalscorer in the team (even if its from the reserves) our premiership days are numbered.
  19. Blimey I thought this thread hadnt got posted with the speed it dissapeared to page 2 !
  20. Please no ! not Hartson I wouldnt let him mow my lawn !
  21. We will have to agree to disagree sheded, How many times have i seen Huckerby beat three defenders only to mis a tap in ? more times than i would like to remember.
  22. Whatever anyone says this is a must win game and the performance of saturday is not the way to go into it. My team would be Green Edworthy Charlton Fleming Drury Jonson (Bentley) Safri Francis Huckerby Doherty Mckenzie   Jonson is a natural winger and our most expensive summer signing I think he has a point to prove and needs 90 minutes to prove it. Bentley as I have said before is too much of a loose cannon, he can change a game but unless he can learn to play in a team he should stay on the bench. I dont understand why worthy insists on playing Gary Holt , he seriously loks like he needs a rest to me. We need more up front and as I have said a million times Darren Huckerby will not score the goals to keep us in this league, although he may create them. He was at his best last season on the left why haven''t we played him there once this season ? Jarvis on the Bench ! We need a miracle man.
  23. He always has a knack of saying exactly what I''m thinking and trying to say on here but being much more concise and to the point. The man we salute you ! About the diamond and the last 2 games. "Yawn. Ho hum, here we go again. And so it proved. Still no width, Hucks ploughing a lonely furrow out on the left with no support, Doherty equally lonely up front winning flick ons and holding the ball up for nobody. Time and time again players looked to lay a simple ball to the non existent wide player. It was about as dull as football can get." Yes, yes and yes again. On Gary Holt "But does Nigel Worthington have it within him to write a teamsheet without the name Gary Holt on it?" On the button On Mattias Jonson. "Why did Mathias Jonson sit out the reserve game on Monday and then not get on from the bench against Rovers – despite it being obvious that something a little different was needed to break down the lower league side? We''re told he''s not trained much with us and may not be match fit. He''s not going to get fit sitting on the bench." Too True. I also seem to remember he agreed with me on Huckerby playing on the left, although I couldn''t find the quote. Keep up the good work Fella !     Yes again.
  24. Did Delia look to see what she had as loose change in her purse when deciding the transfer budget for this season ? Is this a ploy to get extra cash in from the fans or just softening us up for the sale of Green in January for "footballing reasons". 250 Charlton , Doherty 750 , Safri 500, Jonson 750 , Ward 250 , Gallagher 400. That comes to Just over 2 Mill hardly Premiership spending. So lets look at the team Defence Worthy has done a great job taken a solid 1st Div defence and made it even stronger, I think Charlton may well be on his way to being player of the season. My Choice: Green Edworthy (Helveg) Charlton Fleming Drury Midfield A shambles really the bright points are Safri and Francis. Hopefully they will get the chance to play together at some point in the centre of midfield when worthy has bored us all to tears with his diamond (I tried to post a rant after the game last week and thankfully it wouldn''t work, It was without doubt one of the dullest games I have sat through at carrow rd for 30 years) Holt needs a rest , he has been poor in every game so far this season but worthy keeps persisting for some reason (if you must play the diamond why not play Helveg at the back and Safri further forward) Bentley has talent but is far from the finished article and I''m not sure we can afford to watch him make his mistakes with us this season to make him a better player next season. Mcveigh and Jonson are when they play not getting enough crosses into the box (although it doesn''t matter too much as we rarely have anyone in there anyhow) I would like to see Jonson given 90 minutes again (I thought Tuesday would have been an ideal time, must watch my blood pressure thinking about that game and team selection) Huckerby as I am getting fed up saying is not a centreforward and he has always played better in a more withdrawn role for us ( If we play him "upfront" we will never have a goalscorer in the box) My Choice: Jonson (Mcveigh) Francis Safri Huckerby. Up Front To say we are toothless is an understatement we have a good supporting cast but nobody to put the ball in the net regularly. Svennson in my opinion was probably not good enough for the first division, Doherty is the new Rob Newman, gives all he has got but with nobody close to feed with knockdowns is very isolated and isn''t a natural goalscorer. Huckerby again is not a natural goalscorer we were promoted with a mixture of his scoring and creation without the other players in front of him to provide for he is particularly infective ( he is always out wide so why not play him there) To be fair its a mess, we don''t have a first choice strike force let alone back up and it is the one area you cant get people on the cheap as we found in the last 2 summers. Perhaps Mcveigh , McKenzie, Jarvis , Jonson or Henderson could do the job but we have to give someone the chance, and we also have to look at finding a centreforward who can hold the ball up and bring others into the game as well as scoring at least a dozen goals a season if we are to stay up. My Choice: Doherty Mcveigh Bench: Ward , Helveg, Henderson, Brennan, Jarvis I am a shareholder in the club (although I donated money last year via the trust rather than buying more) and find it very sad that we are unable to fund a Premier League team. I am not convinced I would rather watch us scrape 0-0 draws in this league which would ultimately prove futile as they would not be enough to keep here than watch the sort of football we played last year. I hope something cheers me up because football is making me miserable.
