  1. Don''t take it personally Morty is a robot programmed to only spout crap, ironically unable to come up with any positive suggestions of how things could be improved because everything couldn''t be more wonderful. Been drinking the Koolaid far too long. He can be belligerent and abusive though.
  2. I''m sure many of them would primarily because they are good examples of what we are talking about. To some degree dinosaurs that the world has left behind. Neither Villa or have any real cash to invest in players both probably servicing huge historical debts and both flirting with relegation in recent seasons. The only real differences between them and us is history and fan base, history counts for nothing as I am sure Preston , Leeds , Forest and many others would be able to show. Fan base continues to be marginalised on the basis of the shrinking percentage of revenue ticket sales now account for. I am not saying it is irrelevant just marginalised and that the bottom 12 teams in the premier league should be in a position to compete with each other if not the top 8.
  3. I would agree that we have no idea if any of our strikers are really good enough because we create almost nothing for them to feed off. The exception does not disprove the rule. Given the number of different players that have tried to play forward roles within Hughton teams with little or no success I would suggest it is fair enough to blame the system rather than the individuals. We neither have world class player in attack that can take the one chance awarded them when it comes or the defenders who can consistently soak up pressure for 90 minutes without making a mistake therefore Hughtons system will not only be flawed and fail it will also be extremely tedious in the process. Pressure will tell at both ends of the pitch and we never pressurise opponents sufficiently.
  4. With the greatest of respect Ricardo (and im not even being ironic) I think you are showing your age here to some degree. The general concept of "club size" is if not quite an outdated principle certainly something that has changed dramatically in the premier league era and even more specifically in the last few years of the megabucks sky contracts. This is one reason that nobody connected with NCFC in terms of Staff or supporters is in the least bit interested in the concept of expanding Carrow road with the exception of those that cannot get tickets. Norwich City are a well supported debt free football club owned by shareholders that are not interested in financial returns. Whilst we will never be able to compete with the Sugar daddies of this world I do believe we should consign also the "Little Norwich" tag to the history books as the differences outside the top8 are of less relevance than they were.
  5. HAHA Priceless. "I think we proved that two up front doesn''t really work for us." I think we have proved that nothing much works for us.
  6. The consistent problem under Hughton is the lack of a cohesive team whatever formation we play we have strikers isolated with little or no service. Although the pedestrian nature of most of our play probably explains as much of this as does the personnel. Wes is probably the only player in the squad capable of producing the unexpected move of sufficient quality to break down top class defences. He does however hardly ever shoot and gives us no more defensive solidity than we would have playing 4-4-2 but the truth is even then we cannot get players forward to support the attack. Nothing will change until we get a manager in charge that accepts that the best form of defence is to have the ball in your opponents penalty area.
  7. I cant deny I find it weird too. Play him against Villa , very weird indeed. As you say against a physical Stoke side and then not against a passing side like Saints. I have to say that I don''t consider him to be the answer to our problems but the fact that the manager in his wisdom chose to not replace him in two transfer windows despite clearly wanting to play 4-5-1 is also baffling. Unfortunately effort doesn''t always transfer to end product. Look at Snodgrass , Nobody can den he give 100% but I would say if anything he tries too hard and therefore makes bad choices and holds the ball too much.
  8. I have a hand full of straws for you to clutch at Lakey, I was going to counter your frankly tedious argument but I really can be bothered. The one constant this season through our turgid performances this season is the Manager. Thank god that Spurs didn''t bother turning up.
  9. Hughton has presided in the dullest two years of NCFC in living memory and cant put together a team that know how to fight for anything. There is no possibility we can get to 40 points this season, the only hope is that 3 other teams are even worse than us. Thankfully the one positive think Hughton has done is to provide me with a huge dose of apathy ensuring no repeat of the despair from Fulham 2005. Wake me up in August.
  10. Personally I cant see anybody managing to find enough interest to protest. I don''t see any great anger now. Just a boredom and resignation to the fact our fate may as well be decided by the toss off a coin. We need 3 teams to be worse than us which is a big ask. Wake me up when the season is over.
  11. I have to say I was fairly underwhelmed by the figures. I wasn''t sure exactly what was what in terms of the collection versus programme so I bought a programme for the first time in decades and put a couple of quid into the bucket, I would have expected £10,000+ though.
  12. I think that Purple Canary outlined my view on page one far better than I could have done. It clearly outlines what is wrong with our managers philosophy. You sir are a genius this thread should not be allowed to slide.
  13. I''m baffled why anyone would be worried about relegation. For the most part the product we have been served up in the premier league has been substandard so the additional revenue has not supplied a superior product. an extra 8 games per season in the championship ? I''d say im currently more petrified of survival and the possibility of watching another season of Mr Hughtons brand of "football"
  14. Think I''d give Bassong the bus fare myself. Not sure ive ever seen a player go from hero to zero as quickly (and I''d wager he''s not getting paid like a mediocre CB) Think the only lucky thing with Ruddy is the fact we have been so poor perhaps he''s fallen of the radar of the bigger clubs, I think that''s the only reason he would still be at Norwich next season.
  15. I have to say that this thread in my opinion does sum up everything that is wrong with Norwich under Hughton. We are generally good defensively but not good enough never to make an error and when we do it costs us and we create so little going forward its generally game over. The biggest problem with this is the fact there isn''t any movement, no plan B makes watching Norwich City a poor second to drying paint.
  16. I don''t think that''s actually very fair. I think he was almost universally acclaimed as the best candidate to replace Lambert. I seriously cannot remember a manager in any league being given the amount of rope that he is. Should surely have been replaced after 10 games of this season. The irony of it all is that I find myself so bored with the football we play I cannot get worked up about our survival or relegation. Regardless of how much money Hughton would be given to spend in the summer can anyone honestly imagine after 2 years he will suddenly devise a plan to actually score goals ? My only hope is that he is not our manager next season regardless of the division we are in.
  17. Whilst I think we may just scrape over the line with Hughton, what seems clear is that he is not the answer going forward (and I think if he starts to believe that there is little reason to stick with him) I think maybe the dead cat bounce may well be enough to get us over the line if it is someone we can all rally behind who is able to instill some passion in the team.
  18. I would disagree almost completely. Fer is the only player we currently have able to play an attacking midfield role whilst keeping us looking defensively solid. Howson is a very capable box to box midfielder but shown no real ability to play this role (is it still zero assists for the season ?). Wes and Elmander are the only other two players to have been tried in this role this season neither really looking like they offer enough either attacking or defending. I really hope this is not true as I struggle to think of alternative personnel in our squad to make this system work. Perhaps Snodgrass could do a job and bring Gutierrez back in.
  19. I agree completely one swallow does not make a summer. Like most I am overjoyed at the 3 points on Sunday and again hope that again this might be the start of something good but would need to see some serious improvement to change my mind about needing change in the summer 2 full seasons should be more than enough to at least show some signs of a team able to compete and defend/score at premier league level. Win a couple of games convincingly and maybe I will reconsider, stumble through and just survive or not and it has to be time for a change.
  20. I have to agree completely with this thread and the winning goal yesterday changes very little. Snoddy is 100%er always sometimes we need to try something different especially when playing with one up front. I don''t understand why people become so precious about it if people suggest a player could do with a rest or we should freshen the team up. Snodgrass continues to be selected regardless of his form, this is wrong.
  21. Nothing much has changed apart from Yobo and Tettey making us more solid at the back again. Still don''t really have a clue what to do when we cross half way. Will take anything I can get though.
  22. I would argue on a couple of fronts. Firstly, I think it would be clutching at straws to suggest a team that cannot average scoring a goal a game have had a "Succesful Period" Secondly Howson has shown little aptitude for "pushing on" unlike Fer who has had a decent spell of passes in and around the box. I would argue Howson is much more of a box to box player with an eye for a long range strike.
  23. Sadly this kind of thing is my biggest fear, great result yesterday but if Hughton is not able to put together a team within 2 seasons that can consistently go into games in a positive manner and look to score more than a goal a game then it should still in my opinion be time for a change regardless of staying up. He has the rest of the season to show that he is the man for the job and that is in terms of progress not in terms of finished article. My worry is that as has been shown he is cautious to a fault we will see if he can change his spots and take us forward, I hope so but I am far from sure.
  24. Firstly we do not have the players to play 4-3-3 Only Pilkington could be considered a wide forward in our squad the remainder are wingers however you want to dress it up. I guess Fer is the nearest thing we have to an attacking midfielder and playing against any top 8 team home or away I couldn''t fault the 4-5-1 formation. Thankfully with Yobos arrival we have got back to the kind of defensive form we had during the 10 game unbeaten run last season but I see no real signs that our attacking frailty has been addressed in the slightest. My biggest disappointment was that we didn''t look to solve this obvious problem in January. It doesn''t matter what formation you play if you don''t have the players to make it work. For me if we stay up we need to break the bank on one influential attacking midfielder to turn this squad into a decent team. We continue to sacrifice any attacking intent in the name of solid defence, again I can understand this against a top 8 team but we need to find a way to take a game to teams around us (who may play as we do) Ideally for me this will have to include Pilkington in any 4-5-1 and perhaps 4-4-2 with Tettey and Fer Central allowing the wide players to be more than additional full backs. Much has been made of the variation of the tactics the truth is most of this season (and last) it has just been a matter of either 1 or 2 strikers being completely isolated and the rest of the team defending and no midfield players prepared to link up with attack. Don''t kid yourself we have solved tis problem , we scored a goal.
  25. Would agree that 10 points should be enough to stay up this season and yesterday was a massive step in that direction. Hopefully we can achieve that by playing solid but positive football we will see.
