Can Reece McAlear not play RB? Already made his debut so be good to get him some more minutes.

Hugill will presumably get a chance on Saturday in a team likely to be featuring Quintilla, Placheta, Martin and possibly Hernandez and Mumba at some stage. I think we’ll be able to offer a much fairer judgement after that.

Wow some people on here. I didn’t actually say we’d played badly first half, I said exactly how it’d been. We won again but we should’ve won more comfortably and we didn’t and Barnsley had several decent chances to nick a goal. Is that not what happened? This league is really tight and GD could well come into it so we need to start being more decisive in the final third. If we were, we’d be storming the league!

That sums up our season. Lots of possession but nowhere near decisive enough in the final third and always likely to give away a few decent chances here and there.

It’s amazing what can happen when you stick crosses into the box rather than going back and forth outside the penalty area.

If the offside goal had counted, we’d have gone one nil up, which we did anyway. So that isn’t what cost us!

There’s no debate that Gibson is better than Zimbo and if Farke doesn’t bring back the former next match, that’s ridiculous. Gibson is not only a better defender but also brings the ball out of defence better. Zimbo is a great guy and decent back up but Gibson was signed to play so there’s has to be questions as to why he isn’t if it continues. The same applies to the Quintilla/Sorensen situation. Two poor results on the spin is sufficient reason to change without looking like Farke’s throwing certain players under the bus.

I’m not wanting to make Hugill a scapegoat but he got himself in a great position again tonight and simply did nothing with the ball. Even the commentators said so. Until we start getting some crosses into the box there is zero point on bringing him on, Omotoye would be a better option.

We all know Gibson is better than Zimbo but surely Quintilla has to come in for Lungi as well? Our only threat from wide areas is Aaron’s which makes us easy to defend against. Lungi just stops and passes backwards every single time, which is no disrespect to him but it’s not helping our lack of decisiveness going forward. Also the Hugill sub again was completely pointless with the players we had on the pitch. We’ve now not been great for two matches so it’s time to ring the changes and get our best team on the pitch, where possible. There’s no point getting excited about having our first team players being available again if we’re going to continue playing the back-ups!

I’m not McLean’s biggest fan but he’s been our best player so far. Probably the best I’ve seen him play for some time.

Attended a virtual meeting with Webber a few weeks ago and he categorically said that no players will be sold in January unless it’s in our interests to do so. He also said no player within the first team squad has any desire to leave in January, effectively they are all now committed until the end of the season. Obviously that doesn’t mean no player will be sold but I’m hopeful that unless a champions league team comes calling and offers silly money, the club and the players are happy to ride January out without too much going on.

Presumably he’ll get a start in the cup against pretty average opposition, which will give him a opportunity to showcase his ability.

It’s amazing to think that the injury crisis is dissipating but we still don’t have Hernandez, Placheta, Idah, Krul, Mumba and Byram available. All of which, could’ve been very useful in last nights match.

I generally don’t agree with many of the ratings, they always seems a little ‘easy’ and doesn’t want any controversy.

I would forgive his kicking if his handling was any better but it’s not! Totally past it and frankly a little embarrassing that we’re having to resort to playing him. A bit like having to play a right footed central midfielder at left back for half the season!

We need to get Mario on and one of the young strikers. Marco has been dreadful and we can probably sacrifice Tettey at this stage.

I thought Aaron’s was our best player until he seemed to have an absolute moment of madness. Completely out of character. Cost us the points and our only fit FB. No idea why Farke didn’t make subs earlier, even if just fresh legs and to eat up some time. Having said that, I’d have taken a point pre-match with all the injuries.

Surely it’d be better to put youngsters on the bench than injured players? It’ll give them a great experience and they could actually come on if required!

I agree and as I’ve put on the other thread, the first challenge was a for a 50/50 ball, which he actually came worse off. Never a booking. Im guessing we won’t appeal though as it’s only one match and we then run the risk of losing him for more matches.

I agree with CC, in that I didn’t see the first challenge as a booking, it was just a 50/50. But yeah, a favourable fixture to miss if I had to pick....hopefully!

McCallum was the obvious one to not send out in the first place, never mind recall!
