  1. Re: Video screens. The only place we could feasibly put one is between the Barclay and the New Stand. So only half the ground could view it anyway, so I don''t see the point. Only if a sponsor paid for it would I be ok with having a screen at Carrow Rd. re: a tv ref. No way, not in a million years! Ref''s may be crap, but if footy becomes like cricket or rugby where you wait for ages for a decision then I''d rather be spending my saturday afternoons shopping with the missus. And I''m never going to let that happen, never!
  2. The BBC website has this listed as Chelsea''s current squad (subject to change every other minute naturally). I feel wages would deter Worthy getting any of this lot on loan or otherwise. Apparently the out-of-contract Winston Bogarde has been on £40k a week for the last 4 years! Anyone remember what year he last played? 2 Glen Johnson 3 Celestine Babayaro 4 Claude Makelele 6 Marcel Desailly 7 Adrian Mutu 8 Frank Lampard 9 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 10 Joe Cole 11 Damien Duff 12 Mario Stanic 13 William Gallas 14 Njitap Geremi 15 Mario Melchiot 17 Emmanuel Petit 18 Wayne Bridge 19 Scott Parker 20 Juan Veron 21 Hernan Crespo 22 Eidur Gudjohnsen 23 Carlo Cudicini 24 Boudewijn Zenden 26 John Terry 27 Alexis Nicolas 28 Filipe Oliveira 29 Robert Huth 30 Jesper Gronkjaer 31 Marco Ambrosio 33 Joel Kitamirike 34 Neil Sullivan 35 Jurgen Macho 39 Carlton Cole 40 Lenny Pidgeley 41 Craig Rocastle 50 Yves Makaba-Makalamby Alexei Smertin James Simmonds Winston Bogarde Michael Mancienne Mbark Boussoufa
  3. No the Bentley deal doesn''t make Norwich a nursery club any more than Charlton or Leeds were in having Carlton Cole & Jermaine Pennant on loan. But yes, it would be humiliating if such an arrangement did exist. Loans are one thing, but becoming a feeder club in your own country for a club in your own division is quite another.
  4. I''ve seen the odd game Bentley has played on tv, and he looked like a Premiership player to me. A young one who is inexperienced, but a Premiership player none the less, with the quality of passing and first touch you''d expect from an Arsenal man. For a free addition to the squad I think he is a quality signing.
  5. Looks like they''re going to lay the pitch before starting on the infill stand. I sit above that gap in the Jarrold Stand and some of the foundations have been in place for months now. As for the construction of the infill stand, didn''t the club say it would be two-tiered with the lower tier open around xmas time and the upper as soon as possible after that?
  6. Yesterday I asked for an attacking creative midfielder and now we have have one, hurrah. Well done Nigel. Next up, a defender with pace who can pass it around a bit, please.
  7. Finally a new signing. Ok so a new goalie was the least of our worries, but it''s a start. Buy us a creative midfielder next please Worthy!
  8. Not sure. I was a young'' un at the time, the matches kind of blend together. Did Mark Robins run the length of the City Stand high fiving all the fans in the front row?
  9. 1st Wiz, as you probably know there will be no chance of this summers transfer speculation dying down at any stage (unless you cast a spell on everyone). You''d better give up reading the back pages of the papers from now until the new season starts ''cause it''s only going to get worse. And unlike last season Norwich can''t hang around because of the transfer window for Premiership clubs. As for Worthy signing old folks like Keown, I think he learnt his lesson when he wasted half a million on the "experienced" Neil Emblen. I hope he did anyway.
  10. Good luck to Mark Robins where ever he goes. Loved him when he arrived at Carrow Rd following Fleck''s departure. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to score goals. I''ll never forget that opening day game vs Arsenal. I came in and switched on final score on BBC One to hear Des Lynam say "...oh and it looks like Norwich have got another one. So that''s four-two now". Heaven.
  11. Unless Worthy has several new midfield players lined up this summer, including a playmaker, I''d be very surprised if Mulryne was to leave. Damien Francis'' arrival has pushed Mulryne down the pecking order for good reason. Francis is a much better athlete, and showed against Preston he can both score and set up goals on top of his strong defensive work. Our squad is small enough and with five or so players already leaving we don''t need players with genuine talent like Phil leaving too, unless better players come in. Even if Mulryne has never quite lived up to his billing as the next Ian Crook he still can play a limited role next season. I agree with the comment above that if Mulryne was Premiership quality he''d be in the team week in week out already. I''m hoping he''ll rise to the challenge and show he really can cut it in the top flight. We will need someone to take control and run the team from midfield next season. Simply battling it out as we have done at times this season will not be enough. A little quality in midfield could go a long way to helping us prolong our Premiership status.
  12. Just read that on the official site myself and I think it''s great news.
  13. Templeton - Remember the New Stand corner infill is now being built. Didn''t the club say the lower tier would be ready by xmas and the upper tier early next year? Ok it''s only a couple of thousand more seats but hopefully it should improve the situation a little at least.
  14. I did think Easton played well when we went on that run to reach the play-off final 2 years ago. He just couldn''t put it together consistantly. So I say good luck to him where ever he goes. When you''re the champions you greet the world with a smile!
  15. Who would have dared thought 8 months ago that we would win the title! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
  16. I think we all read Worthington''s comments in the press denying that Danny Mills return was on he cards. But personally I''d welcome a player of that quality if paying his wages was feasible. With the exception of the left back position, we do need to strengthen our defense this summer. Even if we stick with our current back four any injury crisis in that area could put us in real difficulty. As a former defender I''m sure Worthy knows this only too well.
  17. I''ve been thinking the same thing regarding vindictive leeds supporters. The season we got relegated was the year I moved away from Norwich for the first time as a teenager. It was agony watching in exile as city struggled. I remember the Saturday we were relegated. Losing 3-2 to Leeds after we were 2-0 up. My housemate, a Leeds fan, did everything he could to rub my nose in it. While most of my mates sympathised and bought me a pint, he just laughed and laughed and laughed. Nine years on and the shoe is on the other foot. Well guess who I''ll be writing to? I may even put on my city shirt and take a trip to leeds to visit an old housemate.
  18. To me it looks like Worthy is using the old rugby tactic of "kicking for touch". Seems to work too. However this doesn''t stop the people sitting around me from tutting every time it happens though.
  19. I played championship manager briefly on my brothers PC one weekend. When I tried to sign Mckenzie the club scouts said he was rubbish and that I shouldn''t bother! Then the youth team manager advised me to not extend Ryan Jarvis'' contract as he wasn''t up to it! So no, Worthy probably doesn''t while away the hours on his PC looking for transfer tips.
  20. Just bought an official "We Are Premier League" club flag for £5 to wave around like a fool on Saturday. It''s only printed on one side, which is not so good. So I might check out the market to see if there are bigger and better ones. Anyone seen any decent unofficial flags in shops or market stalls?
  21. If there was one player that got us through the bad times and into the good, then Iwan Roberts was that man. I''ll always remember how I felt when he scored in the play off final. It gave us the brief taste of what we''re feeling now, the hope that premiership football was really possible. I wish him all the best where ever he goes.
  22. Dirty Lyle - fair enough, we do all want the same thing. Personally, I thought a weekend event would be a better idea to allow more numbers. An event like the Lord Mayors procession maybe. Scott Johnson - I assume you must be quite a young fan. By your comment "they''ve tacked on a parade, and balcony appearance..." you clearly don''t remember that we had a similar kind of celebration the last time we were promoted, and the when we won the Milk Cup the year before. The difference being that they were held on a weekend if my memory serves me correctly. Even after we reached the play off final there was a mid week reception and balcony appearance at city hall, and a chance for the fans to get together after the season to say thanks to the players for a great season. The council doesn''t have to do these things. Most councillors will not be city fans, and will not be too fussed over half a glass of sparkling wine with a bunch of footballers they don''t know. So imagine if our city councillors had expressed this and voted against holding a reception at city hall. No balcony appearance, no players to cheer, no trophy to be seen held aloft, no get together for the fans, no pictures on tv and in the press of us lot celebrating. Nothing. Carrow Rd is the only place to hold such large numbers safely.
  23. It''s a massive shame the club have not had the foresight to delay digging up the pitch. A big reception at Carrow Rd would have been fantastic regardless of whether we won the league. But I cannot understand why some individuals are slagging off the council for inviting the players, management, and staff to City Hall so they can be congratulated by both us and our city coucil in recognition of the clubs amazing achievement this season. Complain to the club if you''re annoyed that there will not be a bigger celebration, not the council. (Dirty Lyle - I take it you wouldn''t mind if your child or grandparent got injured in the crush if the police and council didn''t look after public safety? Or maybe you wouldn''t mind your council tax bill being increased when the injured then sued the council for damages?)
