  1. Why on earth should the fa underwrite funding for Manchester United, when they already own their own stadium? Obviously ‘rentagob’ Burnham will support this but it doesn’t make it right. Even if you do believe that the economy is too London-centric ( though remember London is the one region that generates more tax revenue than it receives) Manchester is the one Northern City that has received huge amounts of spending compared to say Sheffield and Newcastle. Maybe he could ask the Monagasque government to fund it!
  2. Yes it was. I think their situation and that of West Ham are different though. They were stadiums built for specific events which would otherwise have remained unused or underused. ( one of Brazil’s World Cup stadiums is now used as a bus station!) Ratcliffe wants to government to specifically build one of the country’s richest clubs a new stadium-and is using the regional card ‘ National stadium of the North’ to try and garner support. To make matters worse he is a multi billionaire who is tax resident in Monaco, so basically we can pay for it and he won’t!
  3. I think that pretty horrible video proves my point!
  4. I don’t think this is true at all. Go abroad and you will see people not from the UK wearing English shirts-particularly Chelsea of the clubs you mention, although increasingly Man City as well. I’ve never seen a Rangers or Celtic shirt being worn except by Scottish or Irish fans ( in the case of Celtic), or British fans in the case of Rangers.
  5. It always seemed strange when Alex Neil walked out on them for Stoke. Hated there now obviously!
  6. On the other hand , Luton who were referred to as ‘the worst premier league team ever’ are putting up a decent fight!
  7. Well don’t then-give the rest of us a break from your drivel!
  8. That would be true if we were taking the mickey, but the post is just a statement of fact. Beale is not very good and their fans dislike him.-maybe they could replace him with Dean Smith!
  9. Their problem is Tuchel as manager. Bin him for someone decent and the improvement will come.
  10. Nonsense. In no way is it a farmers league. Within Europe only the English and Spanish leagues are stronger. UEFA rankings have the German league on a par with Italy. Your terminology is a gross insult, but suggests you believe that the only way for leagues not to be ‘farmers’ is for clubs to be owned by multi billionaires or petro states.
  11. Not sure how you can possibly not have Mike Walker on that list!
  12. Is that why we are streets ahead at the top of the championship?
  13. Yet we keep being told that this is a weak year in the Championship-you now seem to be suggesting it’s stronger than last year. I’m not sure that even if you’re right the ‘system is utterly broken. ‘ It will happen sometimes-the year before none of the promoted clubs were relegated!
  14. I noted your absence earlier due to the result this weekend. Nice to see your nasty little imagination has found something to comment on!
  15. Surprisingly no posts from them tonight, nor from S-81, Norwich canary and the rest-what a refreshing change!
  16. What about the sumo wrestlers who used to appear on the very early Sky games?
  17. Maybe time to resurrect last season’s song about some American striker. ‘We thought he was ****e, but now he’s alright’
  18. There were hardly any Cardiff fans to wave the white flag! Worst away following this season!
  19. The stupidity appears to spread to the candidates as well. Apparently the Wellingborough Reform candidate spent the morning canvassing in Irthlinborough which isn’t actually in the constituency!
  20. It’s Essex-he’ll moan about absolutely anything.
  21. You are of course right. I stand in the lower Barclay throughout the match as does everyone around me ( although I do remember the time 10-15 years ago when the stewards tried to get people to sit- a thankless task!). I can’t see what difference it will make beyond protecting the club if the authorities suddenly get difficult about standing in seated areas. I remember the furore a few years ago in block B of the Barclay. People need to realise this is not a return to terraces , nor will it be like Germany- where the Yellow Wall et al are pretty unsafe. one plea please don’t create what they did at Liverpool, where the rows are so tight it is virtually impossible to move along them.
  22. It’s not a shambles at all. Why would they tell individual’s before the release. I still suspect you are a closet binner, whatever your mates say!
