  1. Yes, I'm sure with current geopolitical issues that would be the best use of the Navy. I have zero issue with more robust measures such as offshore processing, push backs etc once more sensible policies have been put in place. If 80% of applications are accepted anyway then we probably need to find ways of processing those applications from places that mean a boat crossing isn't incentivised. If we have measures such as that in place then dealing with "queue jumpers" (not sure if that's the right turn of phrase) by exception with those sorts of deterrents seems more reasonable. But the current scheme as designed is stupidly expensive, impractical and is capped at a miniscule number (including resettling asylum seekers from Rwanda into the UK so barely denting net immigration numbers). It's just red meat for wavering Tory/Reform voters after trying absolutely nothing workable to solve the problem beforehand.
  2. The data also shows that the reduction in numbers attempting to arrive in Australia by boat was more tightly linked to the introduction of pushing back boats to outside of territorial waters or returning directly to the arrivals countries of origin rather than being linked to the introduction of offshore processing...
  3. Do you think there might possibly be some geographical differences between Australia and surrounding oceans vs. the English channel that could influence boat numbers?
  4. Yeah agreed. Blew up for every soft free kick but was happy to let a few harder, more obvious fouls go i.e. Rowe getting absolutely clattered mid air.
  5. Directed squarely at the ref for how he handled the final couple of mins of extra time
  6. Because the guy from yesterday was already known to police and therefore they had access to his medical history and other info?
  7. Attacker known to police and terrorism ruled out. Must admit it was where my mind went when I saw the news given current tensions but will be interesting to find out the motive, if there is any.
  8. Trips on the ball and then finishes... In the last minute. Spawny
  9. At the risk of sounding biased/bitter can someone explain how Ipswich are top of the league? In the handful of games I've seen them play this season they just look like a bang average championship team. Today they've looked no better than Blackburn but walked away with the win after being gifted a goal and having two chalked off against them. Can't just be luck momentum?
  10. 1. I'd change the offside rule to be any part of the attackers body being inside equals the player is onside. The current interpretation of offside is ridiculous. 2. Mic'd up referees and zero tolerance towards swearing and abuse of the refs by players. Would love to hear the rationale behind some of the calls, discussions with Var and with players. Obviously couldn't happen currently given language etc directed towards refs currently. 3. Introduction of an independent football regulator and far more comprehensive financial fair play rules. Ideally this should stretch to salary caps, greater distribution of money throughout the lower leagues and no state ownership of clubs.
  11. Watching the St Johnstone vs. Rangers game and as always the mind wanders to how the Scottish teams would fair in the English leagues? I'm not convinced that Rangers and Celtic as they stand would be anything other than middling Championship teams with the rest no better than League 1 standard. What do people think? The other thing that I've always thought would be good would be to scrap the Carabao cup and replace it with a UK wide cup competition to include the Scottish, NI, other Welsh and maybe even Irish teams. Would love to see more interactions football wise across the UK.
  12. Brought to you by the party of fiscal responsibility đŸ˜‚
