Cantwell is not physical enough and has little resolve or determination . If he goes to Rangers it will be a rude awakening as he will be kicked off the park, probably in training by his own teammates. It could have been so much better if he had made the effort to fit in here at his home club but I suspect he is now destined to slip into the steep career nose dive that we have seen in so many footballers who get too big for their boots.

Hanley rugby tackles himself into a yellow card. Strongly believe Hanley is the biggest liability in this squad. -

Oh my days! Take it all back about Dowell! Brilliant. What a start for Wagner. -

Has anyone seen anything from Dowell this season which would warrant his inclusion in this squad? He really needs to step up and stop hiding. -
What has happened to Hanley?
kenfoggo replied to canarydan23's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
It is too easy and lazy to claim that Henley’s disastrous back pass against Blackburn which threw the game was just an out of character aberration. He has increasingly become a liability rather than an asset. I have looked at the replay several times and his reaction after the back pass , his reaction is odd. It is as if he just shrugs as if it is a training ground slip up rather than a match defining error. Also I thought it quite telling that after the goal nobody has a word with him or can even bother to look in his direction. What was Hanley doing passing back under no pressure, without looking , without awareness of opposition player’s position? Whatever is going to happen under Wagner he must surely realise that Hanley is due a rest, a spell on the bench or a loan out prior to sale. Hanley is not a leader of men and his constant selection as Captain is laughable. -
The key difference between the two sides today was that Blackburn did not have anyone as intent on throwing the game away as Grant Hanley. That and the fact that none of our players seem to realise that putting the ball in the opposition net increases the likelihood of winning by a factor of 100%. A loss today, NOT the fault of Wagner, the blame squarely on the mediocre squad.

Lets face it....this is our true level

To achieve promotion this season will be a big ask. To stay in the Premiership at anytime for a Club of our size will be a HUGE ask. Supporting Norwich will always be a rollercoaster ride, but on the journey we occasionally get to see some splendid football . We all hope that the turgid, boring, dross Dean Smith days are now behind us and some entertaining, attractive soccer can again be introduced at Carrow Road. -
Wagner to be announced?
kenfoggo replied to Branston Pickle's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Wagner has not even been officially presented as NCFC Head Coach and already the comparisons with Farke and Dean Smith have started. The whole idea of a new Coach is a new start, a new direction and a new impetus. Perhaps the carping ought to stop until we actually see what Webber’s’ chum can do. -
It would be naive to assume that Webber does not realise the criticism he will receive for appointing an old friend and colleague to the position of Head Coach and the accusation of cronyism that will be aimed at him. But he just does not care. After the extensive “search” and rigorous selection process the “best” candidate for the job is an out of work old chum who failed spectacularly in his last two positions. The lack of corporate governance in the Club leads to this laughable situation where Webber is allowed to treat the Club with such contempt and arrogance. Of course we all wish Wagner success and if we gain promotion this season then all criticism will be forgotten and Webber will be hailed as a genius. However, as it seems increasingly likely that Norwich will not be able to achieve that goal, then Webber will have no place to hide from the criticism and accusations. It is a gamble. We all wish him well.

Webber looked and sounded like a beaten man who has run out of ideas. The squad and the set up that he has engineered at the Club is not working. This is his responsibility, not the fans. He should own that responsibility and yet he comes across as arrogantly blaming everyone else , especially those naughty fans who were so toxic towards poor Dean Smith, rather than looking at his own performance. I would like to be more positive about supporting our club, but at the moment there seems so little to be hopeful or enthusiastic about.

I think that there are too many senior players, Hanley being the most obvious, who believe that they are undroppable and are automatic selections for the team. These “core” players transmit this mindset to the rest who have become complacent, unmotivated and are “sleepwalking “, as Ben Gibson admits, into free fall down the table. They have become comfortable with losing and see that they still get selected and paid no matter how poorly they play, so what is their motivation to change? Get young, hungry, ambitious , motivated players in who have something to prove.

The Sporting Director is unsackable because of the construction of the Board and lack of corporate governance. He will not be held accountable for the dire state of our Club. In fact he has been given free rein to continue making this Club a laughing stock.

It is clear now that the problem was not Daniel Farke nor Dean Smith. The problem was the with squad who are just not good enough. They have been told that they are the best squad in the Championship, but they are not. They are devoid of skill, application, commitment and effort. The Reading and Watford performances at home were as dire as anything ever seen at Carrow Road. The squad is recruited and constructed by the Sporting Director who will now probably appoint an old chum who is out of work and who failed spectacularly in his last two posts. You could not make this situation up, the Sporting Director is virtually undismissable because his wife is a Director of the Club, and so he will never be held to account for this utter failure . It is a comedy that makes our Club the laughing stock of the Championship as we free fall down the league. Currently 11th. Even Ben Gibson admits the players are “sleep walking” and that they “need to wake up”! No pride in playing for our Club and no professionalism displayed from this bunch of sleepwalking inadequates. Like many others I find it hard to justify wasting my time and my hard earned money on Supporting this rabble of losers.

After the debacle of the last 12 or 13 games , or the last 18 months, or whatever, and especially after the game at home to Watford which was yet another loss, it must be apparent that the problems at the Club go much further , much deeper than simply the Head Coach. Farke could not get this squad to work, Dean Smith could not get this squad to work and now the interim coaching team prove that the squad will not work for them either. Which leads me to conclude that this squad is just not good enough. Today we saw no skill, little application and very few ideas. Hanley could not lead a band of Boy Scouts to the corner shop and no player could hit the side of a barn with the ball let alone the opposition goal. It was a sad , sad waste of an afternoon. It really seems not to matter anymore who gets appointed to the position of Head Coach, this sad, tired, jaded, inadequate bunch are not fit for purpose. The Head Coach appointment and the recruitment and construction of this squad is the responsibility of the Sporting Director, a man who will only dedicate 90% of his massive abilities to the job, in between fell walking. The appointment and retention of the Sporting Director is the responsibility of the Directors ( one of whom is the Wife of the Sporting Director so no conflict of interest there) and the Owners. All of this equates to problems at the Club from the top to the bottom. Sad times with no easy or quick fix. A root and crop rebuild required.

Michael Bailey - "Wagner 1 of 4 shortlisted""
kenfoggo replied to Terminally Yellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Being a cynic , what is the point of holding a position of “Sporting Director “ if you can’t give an old chum who is out of work a job? No matter how spectacularly he failed in his last two positions. I expect Wagner to be appointed in short order after this far reaching and in depth “selection process “. Laughable. He better be better than Smith or else the spotlights will really zoom in on the competence of Webber. -
Current Championship Table shows Norwich City in NINTH position. True .
-
Chicken, before you accuse anybody else of stupidity, please check the facts because Luton and Millwall have NOT played one more game than Norwich. 10th is the true Dean Smith inspired Championship table position. If he has still in the job, this is still the league position we would be in. Accept it. It is the reality. He has gone, let us hope that things improve.
-
We are in 10th position in the Championship Table. This is the true position that Dean Smith has left us in.

The big concern is that NO change is coming and these poor performances will continue.
