  1. Just briefly looking at our squad of 36 players from 1016-17 (a mere 20 months ago), and we have only 3 from there who are in or around our first team! That is over 30 who have either left, out on loan or not near the first team now in well under 2 years. It would be good to have a period of settlement with a nucleus of 10 -15 good players over the next few seasons. Firstly to develop together as is happening but more importantly, for the fans, to have individuals that can be linked longer term to our club. Another player or two with 2- 300 plus appearances in our team would gel it nicely together. DF may be the manager to bring stability for us?
  2. This is how I see it as well JS. Our style in the last few games appeared to have developed and we definitely dominate teams earlier which is a good trait especially with our enhanced and hard worked fitness levels. However, I do believe in this particular game we need an early goal. This will encourage Sheff United to try to play against us instead of effectively stifling our play through niggly fouls etc. I'm of the opinion this could be one of our best games of the season so far. it would be great if we beat them and just to see their manager's desolation afterwards, will be a delight all round.
  3. There were plenty of times last season when things were not going well on the pitch. The fans repeatedly called for NO to be brought on as our saviour and he was given many opportunities , especially early on. Did he really take them. Did he really try and fit in with the DF system, which we can all now see is fruitful? The answer for one reason or another is virtually no in almost every case and the manager has to deal with that (despite those who saw him play know underneath he is a classy striker). I for one believe DF has handled this and him very well. He has not publicly scathed him nor has he sent any other staff member out to put across his message ref NO. If we get some funds back for him then it is another big thumbs up to DF from me. These are exciting times!
  4. The 'few' who do try to spoil it for the many, do indeed come across as a bit of a pathetic hapless lot when they attend Carrow road, or indeed when they gormlessly greet our support at poorman road. No surprise then that when beered up, terrorising a bin or a light cluster is their forte.
  5. Would not surprise me if they take a lead first half. They have a big incentive to beat us and there manager is under pressure, with relegation looking certain. However, I believe the fact we have far higher asperations in our sights than the binners, a number of our better players have only been here for a season or two and a manager who does not have a soiled history gives us an advantage. Whilst they (and PL) will be nervously trying to add glitter to their turd of a season with their performance we will simply be taking this as an opportunity to add 3 points to our total. Our composure and higher level of talent will see us through. As it has done for the last two meetings, which represented their best chance of a victory for a decade. Which they choked at again.
  6. But it's not honest though is it? And therein lies the issue. If Leeds have gained a win advantage in only 10% of the games played so far, that is enough points gained to place them above the 7th placed team OUTSIDE of the playoff places. And this is where the chasing clubs have a legitimate and understandable complaint. The financial implications are massively impactive to the other clubs and individuals and to many it is not petty by any standards. I think it is right to 'express a concern' as many clubs have done so. NCFC are certainly not moaning about it publicly and are going about it the right way.
  7. Whilst my post was in jest, it will not be missed by Lambert that this fixture will be the point in which to make his defining mark this season at poorman rd. If he can manage an unexpected win against us, he will no doubt be aware he has at least a season of good grace within Div 1, no matter what the results. We will need to be on top of our game during this match and I expect DF will be fully aware of the implications as much as PL.
  8. I would think watching the opposition's final training session before each game ensured a greater advantage for them than being present at their opposition's last game legitimately, the week before. We will never know the exact extent but lets be honest here, if we 'only' knew the tactic on set pieces (offensive and defensive) the other team were implementing for each of our games, the impact would be huge. I agree with Til 1010 on this. It stinks of a full management level of knowledge this was happening at Leeds and they deserve all the condemnation they are receiving. Lets hope their bad run continues without the extra advantage they once had.
  9. I did wonder if it was worth asking the EFL for a law change for this particular fixture. For example in some youth games, once a team is winning by a certain amount they have to withdraw a player or the other team add on, to even out the teams. Perhaps the binners could start with all 3 substitutes on the pitch and just add numbers (or we take off) according to the ongoing score? ………………..for the sake of fairness and interest only of course. Obviously we only have so many reserves, and at a particular score we should keep at least 5 or 6 of our players on the pitch. 🙃🤪
  10. It's going to be fun no doubt. I predict there will be negative chants towards him specifically initially. However, by the time we are clear over the horizon there will be a huge chorus of 'there's only one paul lambert', with lots of laughing and p155 taking. And I for one can not wait. Bring it on!
  11. Looking at just the next 4 games, we play against some of the teams who for one reason or another have a recent relevance to us over and above the norm. It is a great set of fixtures for us at this moment, and an 8 point recturn would be superb. Leeds away is going to be extremely difficult despite their recent form. However, the only fixture I'm slightly (only very slightly) concerned with is our home clash against the binners. We may only get a draw! 😀
  12. Lets hope Lewis, Tettey and Buendia have completely recovered and raring to go. Otherwise nearly a full strength 11. Would take a draw here. I would have liked to see Klose in there though
  13. My thoughts exactly. I'm hopeful we can hang on to the tail of Leeds over the next 3 or 4 games, by which time Leitner will be back and in the groove dictating pace and direction. I have no doubt that when back we will push on strongly. However, for sheer work ethic and the character he shows, Buendia will be a very welcome sight back in the team. I also believe Sbreny could temporarily replace Stiepermann.
  14. Slightly more worried by the sight of the City fan back left, giving the steward a celebratory snog! Luckily for that working man we only scored once.
  15. I think the funniest moment with that lot was when they thought they had finally won at Carrow Rd last season. I couldn't cheer our last minute equalising goal, for laughing so much. Happy to see them languish in Division 3 for a bit then yo yo into the Championship. That club has to drag it's mentality into the present from the 60s-80s, otherwise the decline and stagnation will simply continue. Imagine being a player there and constantly (no matter how well you are doing) being reminded at every single home game that you will never be as good as at team of yester-year. Must do wonders for their teams collective spirit. Virtually every flag or placard they have displayed, references a player from nearly 40 years ago (apart from the amusing/embarrassing Hurst one). As for those transfers, he has to effectively start again with a near half new team. Without the benefit of a pre-season, and still produce probably the greatest half season they have had there for 10 years...……………..very unlikely.
  16. Yes they could have coasted at 5 or 6 -0 but it probably has more to do with the will to win attitude in that team that they continually pushed forward. Plus they has some second string players on the field, looking to impress. It would be better off if they, firstly referred to it as the league Cup and not the 'Mc Clutch cup' or what ever it is now. Secondly, like the FA cup should have imposed, place a far greater prize at the end and finally allow the final to be played as a single entity, without all the other games that day. ......….Wish we were still in it!
  17. Conversely, the introduction of VAR in my opinion will assist smaller clubs such as us (if we were to make it to the promised land) with contentious (big club bias) decisions, and in doing so will hopefully/may even reduce the diving.
  18. We often hear pundits declaring so and so was 'clearly touched so he had a right to go down' to win the penalty etc. My favorite moment of such was watching our flying winger tearing up Millwall at Carrow Road a few seasons ago. there appeared to be a lot of young Hoolies in from London that day and our very own DH came flying into the 18 yard box in front of the away support when he was clearly touched! Now, I'm not saying he dived however, he completed a very exquisite flip in the box and was duly awarded a penalty as a result of his efforts. Que the away end to go absolutely bananas with rage. The only person in the stadium to see it was not a pen was obviously the Norfolk born ref. It was an amusing moment made funnier by the mass of Milwall who I'm sure were on the advance stages of invading the Jarrold had DH not decided to gentlemanly miss the resultant penalty. Happy days!
  19. I think there is no question, he for some reason does not play the Farke way particularly effectively. I believe he was given some chances last season but clearly not this one. He is probably on higher wages and Aarons is the better option. Excellent Championship full back being kept out by a premier standard one!
  20. Welcome Harry53. Ivo is a good club full back kept out by an outstanding one. He has great character on the pitch and I have always enjoyed watching him at Carrow rd. It was a shame he did not get a run out against Portsmouth, my youngest son would have been ecstatic. Good luck to Ivo Pinto.
  21. Let us hope the loans do indeed come back to bite them, we need all the luck we can get to keep this campaign going. Our team is slowly coming back to full strength and just at the right time. looking forward to the next two games involving the top 4 teams especially. QPR have hit a bit of form and could help us this weekend. However, we need a result at a loan free West Brom.
  22. I'll be quite surprised if town actually score a goal today. 2 Goals first half for Accrington, then they will ease up second half and give their youth a run out.
  23. Leicester will get at least double what they paid, he is playing well and making them tick. I think we sold well with him, made the deal early allowing us a plan to bring in our targets. He was an unproven player at Prem standard and hopefully we will benefit from a move, if it comes off. We as a team, playing as a team, have also benefitted with his transfer, so good news all round. I do wonder if Man Utd are serious about him or just trying to unsettle a rival team playing well though.
