  1. Well yes most of it was stuff we already knew, but some of it was interesting for me. So,we had to shift 2 or 3 guys out before we could bring others in, ok that sounds reasonable, considering  we do have a big squad. But why was it the last day that guys like Lafferty and Naismith were discussing leaving the club? Last day dealings have always shown one thing consistently....that many deals fall thru. Ok, what about mutual consent agreements to end a contract? If the club  earnestly needed to free up a slot or two for new players, did they ever approach  players like Lafferty with the suggestion that ....ok sorry son, we believe your best option is to go elsewhere blah blah...maybe they tried...maybe someone like Laffs would happily sit on his paypacket, knowing hes earning good living until contract terminates...who knows, but i indeed saw a few "contract  terminated by mutual consent" situations this window.I can see maybe problems arising in January again if City cannot shift some of the deadwood, there will be no space to sign a new striker for instance. Happily end of this season there are a big number of player contracts  coming to an end. But please Alex, if you are still here, do not renew contracts to guys like Whitts, not even good enough in this division.

They have to run as a business and can only do business right now as a relegated club with parachute payments!...See?...parachute!..means money available  goes down thru relegation! So realistic appointment for City was find a Chief Exec who had years of experience keeping a football club running efficiently while finances are  restricted on what club gets from tv money, club sales etc! Moxey kept Wolves stable when the club were getting  zilch from the owner and a pittance from being in the Champs! That kind of experience was essential for the well being of a club like ours!If you truly want to support a club that has confetti money that makes being a Chief Execs job easier, id suggest pointing your rocket ship towards Molinuex or Villa or any number of mega rich Prem clubs! Hope you land in a favourable destination and find your perfect Chief Exec ;)

Dont see the equation between City vs. Swansea?..bizarre.  Done see anything about blank transfer windows...NCFC certainly have not had any recent blank transfer windows.Its hard to equate any other club financially with any other one, as all 92 clubs will financially be different for many varying reasons. NCFC certainly are unique more than most, its difficult to equate us with anyone. All one can can do is try loosely, to compare us with clubs in similar situations, i.e. ones without super rich mega owners who willingly plough in money to their clubs like confetti. In such conditions, i guess we are on a par with clubs like Leeds and Ipswich, showing that what we have done has been hugely more successful, getting 4 recent seasons in the Prem, hereby earning the right to Prem riches, and yes earning the right to parachute payments also.

Moxey was a target simply because of his position, fans will naturally pick  him as a target if they needed to lambast. Moxey seemingly never came out very much and explained situations, he preferred to quietly be in the job and go about his business. Maybe that was his only real failing, not to communicate with fans as much as was really needed.In actual fact, when Moxey announced his intention to leave in light of the Chinese takeover,  Wolves fans were much more sensible in their opinions, most actually acknowledging that Moxey had done a dam reasonable job in the circumstances, and rightly having a go at Morgan the owner who had put in diddly squat over the past seasons. Doubt any Chief Exec will ever be fan worshipped at any football club, its not that type of job.Given that Jez Moxey has already talked about the Oliveira signing, and now hes doing a piece on local  radio, it at least shows hes prepared to talk or discuss about situations involving the club. The fans can dissect his words anyway they wish to, but credit to Mr. Moxey for at least being approachable.
  5. Guts to quit?  Think it takes more guts to stay and see it out just because he doesnt get his own way in all matters, But then maybe his PULL IS not quite as major as he thinks it is.

In case you live on the moon Mello, his last few seasons at Wolves he had to penny pinch as their owner Morgan gave the club absolutely zilch money to invest on players or anything else. Moxey quietly did a good job just keeping them stable considering he had nothing to improve the club with. He left when a huge Chinese investment came in, hence why Wolves  could get in about 11 players in the window. The Wolves Moxey left bears no relation to the Wolves that exists now, they are are mega rich owned club.I earnestly believe the club have indeed found just about the best guy available for a club like ours, so far as weve seen of him, ive been more than satisfied. Moxey out?..just ridiculous.
  7. Most of you guys seem to already expect to know what Jez is going to say before hes even questioned or can answer, so whats the point of him even doing this?
  8. Last season at this time i said 18th 33 points, and i repeated it at halfway stage when we had 23 points. City got 19th 34 points so close enough.Already said in early after end of season this time 8th to 12th, 65-70 points, transfer window has not changed my opinion, so stick with this.Sadly see no evidence of Alex''s first 6 months influence when he had City fired up for the thrilling run to Wembley, A season in the Prem has just ground him away to an uninspiring manager. Dont honestly know if he will last the season, much depends on how hard or softly the fans turn on him, and if the Board can withstand any sizeable calls for his head, and see him  continue to build his own long term tean building If still here come January, and if City in top half of table, he must at all costs get in a recognised striker with a decent goal scoring record, he will have no room for failure that time around.
  9. Calm yourself Bex, no  need to shout insults is there? We all know whats happened with the window, but it is what it is. Free agents will nearly always be guys who have been around the block, but we do not know the full facts yesterday, as fans we just see the result when the window shuts.Credit at least for City  responsibly acting the very next day giving this guy a trial, tis better than doing nothing and going with random luck that Cam and Nelson can cover the next few months.Chamakh is available, has kept up his training, no transfer fees to worry about, so if Alex thinks him ok, he will do a job for us. A decent enough guy as 3rd option, cant be any worse than Naismith  at Brum for sure.

Could be that Jerome is out for 3 months or more...makes us not getting another striker in even more absurd...Oliveira will now be under pressure as our only dedicated striker and hes not even kicked a ball yet. Seems Naismith will become ever more important, even Lafferty may have to put in a shift.

Something has changed, we got relegated, Prem. money rose like a rocket so we miss out, rich foreign owners even taking over Championship sides like Wolves etc..in the last 6 to 12 months football has changed even more swiftly than before. NCFC are simply not a part of this ever increasing money grabbing circus. The optimistics among the fans need to be more realistic, as do the pessimists. We currently sit around mid table in the Champs and taking everything into consideration, thats about where we belong.Those who believed we were favourites for, or at least a decent chance for promotion, based their ideas on  what happened 2 seasons ago, which is silly, because  of the massive shift of events that have occured so swiftly. Parachute money? its a pittance up against the now ownership riches of clubs like Wolves, Wednesday, Derby, Villa, Newcastle etc. While being still a good deal better of financially, in reality, we are now nearer clubs such as Leeds, Ipswich, Forest than the previous mentioned. Also despite  1 or 2 good midfield signings, we have the same deadwood that has weakened  the squad in the last 12-18 months and a manager that the season in the Prem has turned into someone who has no clue how to win consistenly anymore.For the pessimists who may think we are again on the road to L1, no, our squad is  far better than to go there. Mid table is where we are at, its the here and now, most likely the foreseeable future, scrapping it out with the Leeds and Ipswiches. Optimists may not accept that, but then thats why theyre optimists, realism kicks in slower for them. OTBC.

Yellow Since 72, trouble is back in May after relegation,  we all expected at least some changes to the old guard deadwood, even Alex said a refresh and some younger ones needed to come in. 1 or 2 have, but only in midfield, In May most of us id imagine thought of the likes of Whittaker, Bassong, Martin, Turner, Laffery and laterly maybe Naismith  would be the obvious choices, but no, they are all still here! Alex  has virtually not touched the so called deadwood. Look at the defeat at Brum last game, 2 of the goals  from Whitts mistakes, up front an absolute toothless Naismith and the invisible Lafferty on bench whom Alex just seemingly wont start.Depressingly the whole window has gone much as i thought, as its now a recurrence every window, and i see many more Brum type games heading this way in next few months. Alex is fast sealing his fate for City fans, the goodwill is long gone, and now it only needs a couple months of poor results for the majority to want him out. His future at City lies in results / performance on the pitch as the window has been poor, and right now i for one dont see optimism ahead, hope im wrong.

Must admit ive been pretty amazed at the optimistics who the last few months really  thought Alex would get in a dedicated striker, when his history since being here is the exact opposite, only need to look at the sagas of Afobe, Gayle, McCormack etc to see that. Anyway, even the local media  have been no different, i heard even local reporters  and media from the weekend onwards still hopeful of action based on Alexs own words. Ive never pinned faith on words, only action, and to be blunt, Alex has repeatedly failed to get in a guy with a proven goalscoring record since he came here.Anyway, last few hours all we can expect is to hear of maybe 1 or 2 of the younger guys going out on loans, a definite nothingness of a deadline as usual for NCFC. No worries, still have Naisy and Laffs up front, Whitts, Bassong, Turner, Martin in defence, so alls not lost!
  14. As i just said in another post, we are short up front as it is, call them whatever you like, but City failed to bring new strikers in, so cannot let Laffs and Naismith go. We go with what we have, Kyle may indeed have  more oppurtunity of getting  a spot in our first elven...if he can ever persuade Alex. Good luck to him with that.
  15. No, it means the deal is still on, meaning the deal is hes still a City player, simply because we got no striker in to replace Laffs.

Neither can leave unless we get others in, and by all accounts the only guy who may come in is Sinclair on few months loan, and Radio Norfolk reported he is  only merely "mulling" over the idea. How a player can just mull with a few hrs left is beyond me, not that he sounds  what we really need anyway.Looking increasing likely we will get no one in tonight, so expect Naismith and Laffs to indeed be here, unless Alex  knows that Pritchard is close to fitness and likely good to take Naismiths spot in the team.

Agree with much you say Alejandra, so i cannot agree with the Topic title, unless its just aimed at the striking area, in which i agree with, its been a very disapointing fail.  But midfield we have signed  some  reaaly exciting  guys, Defence has hardly been touched, really puzzled how we still have Whittaker, Turner, Bassong  , Martin here..these players are just cemented at the club it seems.All in all, taking the window as a whole, id say average, good enough squad for 8th to 12th place end season, so our striker hopes move on to January...then next Summer.   19. I see most fans are finally realising the penny is dropping now that there is just 6 hours left. Ive never been a pant wetter, just a realist based on Citys history in the last couple of years. I said end of May i would expect City not to find the strikers we so urgently need for this season, ive  seen a month by month, week by week, day by day postings of "oh its fine we have x amount of time left". Well, here we are, times about up and we have Nelson (credit to the club for at leasr getting him in)  and a 19 year old for a few months loan who has 3 or 4 games under his belt.Another thing to bear in mind, if both Laffs and Naismith leave, we will be even weaker than before, at anytime   since end of last season. In effect, we will have decreased and weakened our already poor, weak strike force rather than strengthen it, only City could achieve this.As for those "still" pinning hopes on a proven scorer like Rhodes, or a semi big name like Valencia, forget it, aint going to happen. Nelson is sole result of months of striker hunting,  Sinclair will go back to Watford in a few months. Fans can start to ready their pens and write their opinions and debates on Citys awesome, amazing ability....to bring in 1 guy from a list of 100s, after 3 months of hunting.
  20. In....maybe a striker, someone like Bendtner or that ilk, just to make us feel good that we have Naismith  as a forward.Out...If the above happens then Laffs to go.  Thats it.As for Deadline Day prediction, i reckon it will happen on August 31st, concluding around the 11pm mark.

Is nice that you already know Ivo, who us fans think highly of, looking forward to seeing you adorn the Canary yellow and enjoying your football here.Well done Alex and City, finally a new striker and a permanent to, took awhile but happy the deals done and dusted. Have to say, when i see all the crazy money flying around these days, to land Ivo and Nelson for around the combined 7 million sum (we dont know the exact amount of course) is quite something indeed, as fans we moan about how long things take, but this patience  seems to have produced shrewd and good business.
  22. So, Villa spend close to 30 million on McCormack and Kodjia, so they and Newcastle have strikers galore, although keeping them all happy is another issue. City spend a presumed 4.3 mill on Nelson (as near as we know right now). Well done NCFC, a properly run business, having to really know the value of every penny and pound, rather than just have some random Chinese with confetti money buy whomever they want. Honestly, like so many other clubs with mega rich owners, money becomes  less meaningful, and more sadly, the true soul of a football club is lost big time.Is always tempting to think these mega rich people will make a club more successful, but i look at our club, and would not want it any other way. We debate the players form and his performance after each match, we debate the incomings and outgoings, and all the other things that matter to us as City fans, but always, it means something, because its our club, it belongs to us, and its local.Having  rich foreign owners that can use money like water may seem wonderful, but to me it all becomes nonchalant, and the soul of a club is lost. City are our club, they are owned, run, lived and breathed here, and our heart is not controlled from Shanghai or  Moscow or other random places. OTBC.

Absolutely not, Alex said long ago nobody in other positions would be coming in until the striker situation was sorted, and with Oliveira only just confirmed, Alex saying definitely another striker "if the oppurtunity arose" blah blah, but with just 34 hours left getting another striker in will be faint, never mind thinking about Onguene, who only travelled here that weekend on a fact finding trip anyway.

Sadly i said way back at end of May although  strikers were our  absolute priority, i fully expected to see  the club fail to bring in anyone in early, if at all, i dont know why, but its as sure as eggs are eggs.Anyway! lets hope at Oliveira at least does get signed, as for a 2nd striker, i think more chance of snow in July...think Laffs  will stay then, out of necessity.
  25. If City dont get two strikers in by Wednesday night, and right now we have officially not even one in, then Kyle may well still be at Norwich come thursday. Just so many ifs and buts in the last 2 or 3 days of a window, main reason why i had hoped NCFC had got their business done long by now, but seems like its our way to wait until the last possible moment.
