  1. There is a wry irony in someone whose handle is cantiaci canary not putting stock in history😉
  2. And two consecutive draws. Nottingham and hull to come...without even playing this weekend is sweet.
  3. Do you think Millwall would take Marshall of our hands for a packet of chips and a mars bar?
  4. I will reiterate what I posted on ldc's maudlin thread: No team in the history of a 46 game season in the second tier of English football has ever lost the title from the position we are in at this stage of the season, let alone failed to be promoted automatically. It would be a monumental downturn in our form, coupled with much greater form from BOTH teams below us that sees us miss out. It is so unlikely, but because we care about it we think the worst. We are as good as promoted. The team will win at least two of the last five and that will do. We have only lost 6 all season. Do we really believe we will suddenly turn to jelly and lose 3-4 matches in the last 5?!?!?
  5. Don't get the Krul bashing. Has done a sterling job in our goal most of the season. Yes I acknowledge the mistakes made throughout the season but he has grown into the role in the team. No way either goal was his fault and he has made some very good saves this season with brentford and bristol already mentioned. Pulled off a blinder against Millwall too.
  6. History tell us we will be promoted as champions. Looking back at the last 30 years of this division (any further back and we had less than 24 teams, so points are not as easily comparable), there has only been one occasion where a team that was leading after 38 games (let alone 41) was not promoted (3.33%). In other instances, it was the title for 90% of teams (27/30), auto promotion for one (3.33%) and play-off promotion for one (3.33%) Taking into account the number of points we lead by, no team with a lead of more than 4 points failed to win the title from this point. Basically, we would be setting ridiculous records if we don't go up from here. I am not worried. I think if the team wins 2 games out of 5 we will be up as champions.
  7. We did. We scored 2 goals. Usually enough to win games. Their first goal was well taken but doesn't happen in 9 out of 10 games (we all agree steeps had a bit of a mare). Second goal was more poor defending and only their second shot on goal. If Gomes is preaching tactics that requires every shot on target to go in he will lose more than he wins. Also, you imply they deserve something by saying I am wrong when I explicitly said the did not deserve anything. It's all cool tho splendid. We are all backing the same team.
  8. I hear that if we do not beat Wigan by at least 5 goals with hattrick to Pukki and a clean sheet that Danny F will be given his marching orders. About time. How much longer to we have to put up with all this entertainment? DF out Pulis in!!!
  9. Godfrey is a rare commodity. Defo think he can do the trybull role with the added bonus of being able to drop back and create a strong back three. Have to wait and see what happens in future windows to see where he may play. I think Farke will stick with him in defence as he seems to prefer fluid systems and ball playing central defenders. Godfrey fits that immaculately.
  10. Are they at the opposite end of the aisle to relegation creams?
  11. Maybe to you. I tend to look at things like possession shots chances created and the average position of the damn ball. Yes Reading came in with a plan. Yes they executed it fairly well. But do I think that the negative football they played, riding their luck, depending on Pukki and Rhodes to miss sitters means that they deserved anything from this game? Not for me. But we are all entitled to an opinion.
  12. One of the most schizophrenic posts I have ever read. Are you taking any medication? I'm not taking the **** mate. I am seriously worried.
  13. This is, to me at least, a rather unique way of looking at added time. I get what your saying and emotions are running high at the moment, but I see added time as a neutral entity not for reasons of disadvantage or advantage to one team or another.
  14. Yeah...I think we live in the most glassiest of glass houses when it comes to complaining about goals scored after the minimum allotted added time.
  15. Really, it is telling that as soon as vrancic was on the pitch we looked a whole lot better. Farke surely saw that and if he had put vrancic on instead of Rhodes I reckon we would have won. Vrancic really must start.
  16. Still seething. Reading did not deserve anything out of that game. Their equaliser was so jammy. 9 times out of 10 a shot like that balloons into row z. Still win at either wigan or home to Wednesday and that should be that.
  17. Put a beard on Emi and call him Joey Jo Jo a new academy product.
  18. The OP sounds like a Leonard Hoffstadter analysis of our team...
  19. A point? Are you kidding?? This is reading...they are 1 point outside of the relegation zone! We should win. Comfortably. But I would take a squeaky 1-0.
  20. No issue with Pritchard and his services for us. He has made some unfortunate choices in his career starting with joining us instead of Brighton. He's then jumped ship to the first prem team that wanted him and it is fair to say it has not gone well for him. I do hope he is picked up by one of the other promoted teams or maybe even another opportunity to join Brighton. I do think that is his ceiling though. Destined to be jumping from one relegated team to another unless they stay up.
  21. Definitely think Maddison would be able to play in this team. Probably in the McLean role as I think Steeps role requires a bit of physicality. But we would have the most unstoppable midfield this division has seen in a long while if madders was pulling strings in the centre and the nightmares generated by buendia aarons lewis and hernandez around the wings.
  22. To clarify, Pritchard was very good - but Madders is in a different class. He will be playing for England one day and he is exceptional.
