sgncfc 1,330 Posted November 23, 2014 People keep saying there''s plenty of football to be played. Adrian Forbes in particular.Let''s look at some stats. In the 10 years of the Championship, the lowest total for auto promotion has been 79 points, on two occasions, but the average is 86 points. On only 4 out of the 10 seasons has less than 86 been enough, so the chances are that it will take 86 to take second this year. For us to get to 86, we need 59 more points from the remaining 28 games. So, say 17 wins, 8 draws and 3 defeats. Or 18 wins, 5 draws, 5 defeats. Possible, but very, very unlikely.Whatever permutation you come up with, the chances are now so remote that those who are saying that there''s a lot of football still to be played and who still think we have a chance of auto are simply delusional. To keep saying that we can''t fall further behind is irrelevant as we are already too far behind. Those of us who thought that anything less than auto would represent failure should now logically be calling for the trigger to be pulled. It''s got nothing to do with liking him or disliking him - Neil Adams has failed and should go.

Barry Brockes 157 Posted November 23, 2014 But it''s all to do with momentum. Then we had it - now we don''t. A graph showing the respective performances to date would show two very different pictures.
danielsroundabout 9 Posted November 23, 2014 I bet the graph wasn''t heading as dramatically south as it is today.
Canary Willo 0 Posted November 24, 2014
But it''s all to do with momentum. Then we had it - now we don''t. A graph showing the respective performances to date would show two very different pictures.
It was now in 2010/11 that we set on a run, starting with Ipswich at home this weekend. We then won I think 4 out of 5 games. You are right about momentum, but records, even goals for and against are not far off. We had scored one less and conceded three more. But I agree momentum over expectation is the mental game we face, both as players and fans.
Jim Smith 2,610 Posted November 24, 2014 We also had a proper manager not a fraud masquerading as a manager.
lake district canary 4,830 Posted November 24, 2014 The momentum built gradually in that season, the first few games we were feeling our way a little bit. The Ipswich game was a real boost and by the end we were unstoppable...........but still only just made the automatic spot. It was Cardiff''s spot to lose and thankfully they bottled it. Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted November 24, 2014 promotion and Adams is a contradiction, there will be no promotion with Adams, we are just treading water til the board eventually see sense and then see what rabbit they pull out of the jokers hat with the next appointment, 50/50 a sound choice or completely off the wall

danielsroundabout 9 Posted November 24, 2014 The words Promotion and Adams should not feature on the same page, let alone in the same phrase.Anybody who kept an eye on him and Holt on Saturday would have seen the traumatised faces of a couple who had absolutely zero to offer their team on the pitch. The one occasion they did appear to be communicating was when a Brighton player was receiving treatment. Four or five of the team went to the dug-out for a drink and our comedians kept two of them talking well after play had re-started.I was criticised on one thread for referring to Adams as a fraud and yes, I know he is a really genuine guy. But the point I was trying to make is that he knows, everybody knows he is hopelessly unsuited to his current role and the supporters are being cheated in not having capable management in place for such a critical season. Whilst he must have struggled to believe that he had been offered the position, he was obviously not going to say no to it. And now, he will not walk away for personal financial reasons but McNally & Co really must admit their shambolic decision and move him on.
