Indy 3,471 Posted November 8, 2014 Guys lets not give Adams a hard time, he''s done the best he can with his experience. The board should never have take such a risk and given the fans such a poor option.I would have loved for Adams to be the next Walker but its clear he''s not.Time to turn your questions to the board and not be too critical of Adams who took the job anyone of us would have in his position. Katie Borkins 1 Posted November 8, 2014 Adams was unable to keep City in the Premier League but has now been handed a three-year job and tasked with getting the Canaries back to the top flight. McNally said he would not be naming any of the other candidates interviewed for the job because he had “too much respect” for all of the candidates and their clubs but said: “Neil was the first person to be offered the job, nobody has turned down the job.” He continued: “Our ambition is that we want to get back to the Premier League and the appointment of Neil was carried out with that in mind at the earliest opportunity. “Of course we respect the Championship, it’s a very tough, competitive league but in terms of whoever had been here today there as no consensus was among the support, whoever was the favourite on websites, the polls, with the bookmakers, they would have had a minority support, so whatever would have been the outcome today the majority would perhaps have asked us the question why? “We understand that but had to focus on getting the best man for the job based on the criteria we were looking at and Neil is that.” Chairman Alan Bowkett re-emphasised the club’s long-term ambition to be established in the Premier League, saying: “The ambition of this football club is to be competitive in the top half of the Premier League. “We believe we can establish, from the way we are managing this football club, a club that can compete for a European place and win a trophy. “The possibility of winning the Premier League in the current financial circumstances is beyond us but we believe we can be in the upper reaches of the Premier League and that’s why we have made this appointment today.” Malky Mackay, Gianfranco Zola and Neil Lennon were all rumoured to be in the running for the City vacancy, but Bowkett defended the time taken by the board to decided to appoint Adams. “The reason we took longer than we wanted to take was because we did a review of the German market, the Italian market, Spanish market, the whole of the British Isles, to find the candidate who stood the best chance of getting us promotion as soon as possible,” Bowkett said. “And the things we were looking for, as well as experience, is some of the basic things such as coaching skills, leadership, vision hard work, a progressive attitude, hunger for the job and the commitment to do it the Norwich way and Neil easily come top of that in terms of those various attributes.”
Indy 3,471 Posted November 8, 2014 Exactly bor....We were a team with big budget and premiership squad......really couldn''t find a manager with a better cv?It was a cheap option and they again are getting off with poor Adams getting all the stick.Hughton should have gobe last January, yet the board said there was no one out there then they gave it to Adams who was already at the club! The board are stale and we need a new attitude from the Old Boys at the board level. ? 0 Posted November 8, 2014 Thanks Bor, that''s just back all the memories of total dismay I had when he was appointed. For all those who continue to back Adams, can you really say that this appointment is working? It''s obviously not so something really needs to change sooner rather than when it''s too late!I have no ax to grind against Adams, the board must bear the brunt of all the current criticism, their gamble has not paid off! Maccys Back 0 Posted November 8, 2014 I thoroughly agree Indy, after the dross with coco then the "no stone left unturned" rubbish added to the expectation for us= an utterly clueless board!!! Mcnally''s claim to fame is appointing Lambert without him we''d be still in league 1 today. He only got Lambert as colu beat us ffs what if it had of been another manager that day? We''d of still had them now aswell.I can not believe the board have gambled YET AGAIN with the security of the club. They didn''t learn from Gunn and decided to repeat the same mistake again and will do again in the future NO DOUBT about it!!!! Absolute bunch of jokers. The Judge 0 Posted November 8, 2014 It was a totally unnecessary risk appointing a novice manager for a club coming down from the premiership with the resources at its disposal. There is of course no guarantee a more expensive/ experienced manager would be fairing any better, but obviously your chances are greatly increased ( look at the impact Lennon has had at Bolton, and Pulis at Palace last year). You have to question the ambition of the board in the appointment. JF 694 Posted November 8, 2014 I will not join in any anti Adams chants. The heat for this is firmly aimed at the clueless board members that have been shown up for what they are.
Syteanric 1 Posted November 8, 2014 Lets not blame the city legend for taking the job! but they chastise poor old Gunny.....
Indy 3,471 Posted November 8, 2014 Again Gunny did the best he could and never blamed him at the time.....the board have a lot to answer in my book.
whoareyou? 0 Posted November 8, 2014 How is Adams a City legend?Legend is such an over used word these days.I think someone hit the nail on the head when they said the club has become stale. It needs fresh impetus from outside and Pulis is that man.
Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,221 Posted November 8, 2014 For me McNally has a lot to answer for, we either need to get a replacement in or somebody with more experience to provide Adams with advice/guidance and we need to do it as soon as possible....... Theres only one Martin Peters! 0 Posted November 8, 2014 The writing is very clearly on the wall again, as it was since last December when the board chose to take no action until it was too late. There are 2 very good Managers without jobs at present, now is the time to appoint one of them, but have the Board got the courage to make a much needed change? Hooleyfan 0 Posted November 8, 2014 In the PL we played some good football even though we couldn''t score enough and margins were quite slim between getting something out of a game and coming away empty handed...the squad still contains most of those PL players, so what has happened?I went to the recent Hillsborough game, and what I saw in the first half there I believe were the seeds of what we have seen since. Some players just aren''t performing, they are coasting and just going through the motions. Whittaker and Johnson have consistently been disappointing, amongst others....how does happen overnight? The coaching team may be nice guys but they''re just not getting the best out of the squad. I''m disappointed with the Board and Chief Executive who for the second time in recent history have appointed a cosy inexpensive manager, who will now be vilified by a certain section of our support and will never regain his standing, like Gunny. The time has come for someone to help Neil out... a technical director of football of some standing. This is no place for romantic sentimentalism...or blind faith and penny pinching.. The fans and the club''s expectation after three years in the PL is more than Championship survival. The stats of today''s game speak volumes in terms of shots on goal. Help Adams out, McNally! either with someone who has some credentials who can add something of substance to the existing coaching team, or else someone to carry his bags on his way out of the club, who can then come back for yours and the rest of the Board!
