I am a Banana

Hooper and the bookies odds.

Recommended Posts

I know that odds mean very little in terms of transfers! (we were 1/3 on to get Rhodes this time last year!!)

But oddschecker show no odds on us to sign Hooper. Newcastle are the favourites @ 4/1! So maybe its a done deal, just waiting on Celtic to buy a replacement?

Who knows?

Maybe we will have 2 new players by next week [;)]

Only way to tell would be if he is left out of the squad at the weekend.

never one to mention, let alone start a rumour on here (check, not 1 in 7 years)...so don''t shoot me down.

...BUT my pal is good friends Hooper''s misses, Lucy, and she''s "keeping her cards very close to her chest" and is not as sociable as she usually is. He see''s her regularly, have done for 2 years and when he questioned her she wasn''t having any of it.

he thinks they are off, and i can tell you, my pal has as much interest or knowledge on football as I do brain surgery. Whether he''s off to us is another matter, but I''m going to find a bookies to take a my cheeky £20 bet on him being a yellow very soon.

Most of our signings are kept relatively confidential until the day, so this one would be unusual. BUT, it is looking like it could well happen and now with the bookies situation too you have to start expecting this to come off I guess. Having watched the compilation on YouTube of his goals, have to say "if" this does happen it looks like we will have a terrific player, really good positioning and a trigger shot,  and one who will compliment Holt nicely if we play two up front or, who appears to also be good at player the single strker role when Holt needs resting/rotating.

Spencer, In view of the lists on odds checker I would be very interested to know a) if the bookie accepted your bet and b) if so what odds did you get?

Odd, because I came to pretty much the opposite conclusion. I can''t remember one goal that came out of nowhere, most were close range, & in all cases the opposition was being overrun by Celtic.

I''m not saying he couldn''t work for us, but I find it difficult to judge how he would perform against EPL defences. It''s the same problem of that with CMS; he looks unstoppable at the level he''s at, but does he have that extra something to make the step up?

Anyway, make your own minds up:

/\ that one. Bet victor at 3/1...its the only one I could find.

Don''t waste your money on my "loose" tip, but I''ll have a beer at Liverpool away if it does come in!

Sounds a bit iffy ! How good ? Step up from the usual "someone''s cousin" link ? Does GH know?

I''m not saying he''s signing Webbo, I''m a grown man, not a housewife, I don''t do rumours...I mentioning that I got a random call from my "non-football fan" pal in Glasgow as he knows i''m a Norwich fan. I''m saying it looks like Hooper is on the move...and it could be us.

I just checked again, even the bet victor 3/1 odds have disappeared now. it could be them panicking with nothing in it and I''ve lost £50...or it could be I''ve got £200 coming back.

Frank Lampard to join Millwall is on there though, 66/1. lol!

You''ve put £50? Wow.

Suppose you know your mate and believe him, and while I believe you and think Hooper will join us don''t think I could ever bet on a transfer, so many things that could make it not happen, even if today Hooper thinks he''s joining us and we think we''re signing him, anything could happen.

And why on earth would Lampard go to Millwall? He''s a West Ham lad...

I''ve wasted £50 on worse in my days GP. :0)

I was joking on the Lampard thing...I think that would be a two-way hatred from the start...would never happen.

Interesting one, I don''t really pay attention to odds on players signing for clubs, but for us to not be on them does raise a question of what they know.

I''ve mentioned this before on the board (and then proceeded to get abuse...) but the mention of Jordan Rhodes again from the last January window I know that he was at Colney on deadline day last year, no idea of the reasons the transfer didn''t happen. But correlating this information with the current odds or lack of odds for Hooper means I think there might be something in it

It is worth noting that Celtic don''t actually play again until next weekend, meaning we''ll be none the wiser!

Hooper is currently in Marbella with the rest of the Celtic squad on a winter break training camp. He has just tweeted a picture of a golf course in Marbella with a few of the other Celtic players.
