a1canary 0 Posted January 10, 2011 I have to admit to feeling a warm glow when i read all the stuff about how he loves the place and has never thought of leaving. But at the same time, i always have the thought that, as we all know, it will end one day (sob, violins). But when will that day be? Will he do an Owen Coyle? Get us up and then go for the first offer he gets? I see a lot of parallels between Lambert and Coyle but less so with us and Burnley. We have the potential to go further than just up and down, so if Lambert believes that too, maybe he will be prepared to take us up and try and keep us up for a few seasons before leaving. A bit like his mentor O''Neill did with Leicester. Or is that too optimistic? To be honest, if he got us up and established us i''d actually be happy for him to go and try his hand with Man U or Liverpool. As the saying goes, if you love someone, set them free! Er, is that a bit gay!? [:$]

paul moy 235 Posted January 10, 2011 My bet is that he will leave at the end of this season if we fail to win promotion. He is bound to get offers from the Prem which he will find hard to turn down.

Bill 1,788 Posted January 10, 2011 These ''offers'' tend to be from basket case clubs that have some money but have serious underlying problems. take a good look at the likes of West Ham, Portsmouth, Liverpool, Villa, Newcastle. Yep, you may get a year or so and then a fat payoff but it''s a bit like snakes and ladders. It''s a long way back again. At the moment he is contracted here. A club that is reasonable financially secure, doesn''t have some mad owner (bar the odd sherry) and is not likely to be sold to some other egotistical nutter of some unkown foreign money launderers. I would have thought he would want to learn his craft in the Premiership with City before moving on to a decent club - that might not necessarily be n England.I would suggest to the ''wobblers'' to take a good look at a lot of other clubs. The belt tightening is going to hit hard, more so when the next round of season tickets are expected to be paid for. Might be better to sit it out somewhere secure than get caught up in the oncoming ''storm''.If a big club like Liverpool can suffer the consequences of over borrowing and having an ''hinvestor'' then imagine how a few of the others will be faring. Boyo 0 Posted January 10, 2011 My prediction is that if we get in the play offs and don''t go up then he will leave in the summer. If we do go up though, then he will stay another season and see what happens. If in the Premiership we come straight back down or narrowly avoid the drop then he will go but if we do well and show plenty of signs of potential then I think he will stay another season. Thats how I think he works[:)]

I think he will do the same with us but of course no one knows
a1canary 0 Posted January 10, 2011 That''s the key thing - to take us as far as he thinks he can. How far is that? If we narrowly miss out on promotion this year, i don''t think that will mean he''ll leave neccessarily because that would mean that the champ play offs is as far as he thinks we can go. And we all know he thinks we can get further than that. He wouldn''t be with us if he didn''t at least think he can get us to the PL. Just because we don''t do it this year (a number of years ahead of planned remember) doesn''t mean he thinks we can''t do it. Actually, i think i''d be pretty disappointed if he took us to the play offs, and then left if we didn''t win them. That''d be a bit of a cop out.
Row D Seat 7 0 Posted January 10, 2011 Can we not just enjoy him being here rather than predicting when he''ll leave. None of us know what offers he will get in the future. He''s our manager. He''s said he''s happy here and has never thought of leaving. That was music to all of ours ears, no doubt. Let''s just leave it. He''s our manager.

HazzaJet 275 Posted January 10, 2011 If a Premiership club want him, I think he might possibly be interested in that. Couldn''t ever see him going to Burnley - I mean how could you want to leave a club that''s in the top six and manage a club in trouble in the bottom half? Maybe if you were offered more to spend, as that''s what we thought was the reason why he didn''t rule himself out straight away.

O.T.B.C 1 Posted January 10, 2011 Everyone knows what I feel about Lambert, close to manlove, mind you not as much as 1st Jiz. But he is not here for the longhaul, he is a very driven person, if we fail to get promotion, which I think we will, he will either go in the summer, or leave it till November time, this will be a time when another Prem club is not doing well and come calling for him.He will want to do well, bit lest not forget, if a top club comes in for him, he will be off.
