Recommended Posts

Of course, I wouldn''t have him as back up either.

But saying that I can''t see where the link with us has come from apart from that Pink''Un article

at 17 he would be a good investment.I guess we could wave bye bye to Jamie Lad With Barnard supporting Holt, Cody Mac and Chris Martin i think we would have a good strike force there , still think Cody Mac''s best is yet to come

Would be a good signing but I dnt want to see chris martin out of the team without doing anything wrong. Still think Martin a better prospect than him. Still wouldn''t mind seeing him move here second to a centre back.
Would definitely be a good signing, but with Askou out for 6 weeks I''d rather pick up a decent centre back.
Defo need a CB, but if we could get both in then good...i know the board have to back PL during this window so we are strong enough for that promotion push OTBC

I think a new striker is pretty much of equal importance to another defender. You can patch up a defence (as we have done) but if Grant Holt was to be out for a while I think we''d struggle.

Lee Barnard''s goalscoring record at this level is pretty good so we could do worse than bring him in.

I would love to see us sign him. I think he''s a better striker than Martin overall and his addition would give us the best strike force in the division by far.
As long as it is only as backup.
Backup and competition. McDonald is a bit overated- decent lad to bring on for 15 minutes to run at defenders and Curo is on his way out, so if either Martin or Holt went off the boil there is nobody really pushing them.

He might be better than Martin now but he is 4 years older than Martin. Martin will go on to do big things IMO
........  Although the mention of Kevin Lisbie slightly concerns me!!!!
Why?

He''s pacey and he scores goals.

Lee Barnard has it all for a striker at this level and would undoubtedly produce in the Championship also in my opinion.  I have been banging on about wanting City to sign him all season since Rickie Lambert and Grant Holt were signed up in the summer.

I believe that Barnard who is obviously available on a cut price deal due to him stalling on signing a new contract would be great value for money and would give us a strike force which could compete at the higher level once promotion is achieved.  I think if we got Barnard on a 3 year deal and he scored a few in his first year or so with us then you would easily be looking at a player worth £2 million plus.

On the one occasion that I met and spoke to Paul Lambert (a few weeks after he became our manager), I said that I was a massive fan of Lee Barnard and that he would be fantastic value for money in January if he continued to stall on a new contract.  I thought that although we kept him quiet when we visited Roots Hall a few weeks ago Barnard worked our back line incredibly well for an hour or more of the game with little support and no quality service from his team mates.

I think Barnard is better than Jermaine Beckford and that he would score hatfuls of goals in a successful promotion chasing team!

I believe that apart from Holt and Lambert that Barnard and Rotherham''s Adam Le Fondre (who is likely to have another couple of years on his contract to run) are the best strikers currently plying their trade outside of the top two divisions.

I would be over the moon with this signing if it happens... [:D]
I''d agree with all of that. Very surprised no team took a punt on him at £250k If we can sneak this one through I would be very chuffed as in my opinion we would have 3 strikers all capeable at Championship level.

Agreed Smudge, would be a good buy and really push Martin and our promotion charge.

Failing that the Rochdale player, name escapes me, but we could offer Whaley.

Don''t think I''m the one short of humour here or personallity complex, the only problem I have suffered with is dyslexia, but that never stopped me from raiseing to the rank of Sergeant it the Parachute Regiment, nor did it stop me from learning to fly or run my own business.or travell round the world and own a Villa in Cyprus, and also not forgetting all the horses aswell, People are all to quick to run others down or ridicule without even knowing or meeting them, but my sence of humour might be different
