City's Record Of Selling Crocks

Recommended Posts

Dean Ashton, sold for £7m, retires 3 yrs later. Keith On''Neill, sold for a million or so, constantly crocked, retired 4 years later. Darren Eadie, always crocked, sold for £3m, also retired in 2003. Even Craig Bellamy was sold for millions and has been plagued his whole career by injury. Is it just coincidence or some very crafty business done by City over the years?

Then there is our record for buying crocks...Niel Emblem, Giatano Giallanza, Zema Abbey to name a few.  Although I do admit we never paid the prices for them that we received from our crocks.

You could add Peter Thorne and MLJ to your list. And probably Dean Ashton himself!

But we were unlucky with some of those players and gambled with others.

And then there are the good and sometimes great players who were crocked when here:

David Jones (who was starting to be aclaimed as the best centre half in Great Britain)

Billy Steele

Mel Machin

Peter Mendham

John O''Neill!!

Unluckiest of the lot. Big Bob said "We''ve finally found the replacement for Steve Bruce". But he lasted about 30 minutes before John Fash crocked him for good.

Robert Fleck Sold him in 92 for a (then) club record fee of £2.1million to Chelsea and scored 4 Goals in 48 games. Ruel Fox  in 1994 to joined Newcastle United for a fee of £2,250,000. Did ok there 58 Games 12 Goals but than after that struggled mightily after being sold for £4,250,000 to Spurs where he scored only 13 goals in 106 games
