Mcveigh

Recommended Posts

Just what does he bring to the team that even merits a place on the bench? Today he was totally off the pace, made no tackles and just wandered around watching the game pass him by.

Yeah got to say I though he was poor today, not got any pace any more and too easily shoved off the ball, same as Cureton.

Instead of McVeigh it should have been Adeyemi and instead of Cureton it should have been McDonald.

Agree completely off the pace, did not get any tackles in, and did not possess the commitment we now expect from the "New Norwich City"

Much as I used to like McVeigh, why he is still being used, is totally beyond me.  Get him off the wage bill please.

Totally agree, he has been a poor signing so far and proved it yesterday against Swindon.

He just strolled around and from my memory never really touched the ball.

The other annoying thing is that he managed to get on the bench instead of Luke Daley.

Sporting Life made him the key player on the field for the last 10-15 minutes.

But, of course, I suppose that they didn''t understand what they were seeing - and Lambert doesn''t know what he''s doing; neither did Gunn.

Thank goodness we don''t have a team where everybody runs around like eager, energetic chickens. It''s far more important to be disciplined and maintain shape --- and press &defend from the front as stressed by young Korey Smith in his post-match interview.

Have to say BlyBlyBabes - Sporting Life may want to reconsider who they employ to report at Carrow Rd or at least make sure they didn''t knock off early. I suppose they couldn''t be further off the mark.

I think Gunn saw someone who has a decent skill level working hard to secure a contract with a club he thought was out of his reach.

I think Lambert saw he wasn''t delivering on the pitch - and then dropped him. Knows what he is capable of and gave him a chance yesterday.

It would be fantastic if we had a team where everybody ran around like eager, energetic professional footballers who were disciplined, maintained shape and pressed and defended and didn''t an 18yr old to show them how it is done.

Not sure whether i''m reading to much into it but Adeyemi came off at half time for the reserves during the week and Lambert did mention he was having to fill the bench with not fully fit players, Gill hasn''t played much longer than an hour in any of his reserve games so I doubt he''d have been ready for a full 45mins in the first team.

This is a classic example of why so many people don''t know what the hell they are talking about.McVeigh is an attacking central midfielder/wide right player, he is not a central midfielder, never has been. You obviously had your eyes shut because most of the linkup plays and balls that cut into their defence in the last twenty minutes were delivered by...Paul McVeigh.Did you also notice how he ended up in the same spaces as Hoolahan, because they are both the attacking midfielders they naturally ended up in the same places. So was it McVeighs fault he was played out of position and thrown in after a significant time without match fitness, or was it Lamberts for putting him there?

I believe it clearly was a fitness issue and that there were players forced to be on the bench who had not fully recovered from injuries. Although I felt Norwich tired badly towards the end I think PL left it as late as possible to bring on any subs to prevent risking further injuries to recovering players on the bench. Swindon were a poor side and I personally think PL called it about right.

To be fair to McVeigh, he''s not a central midfielder and I''m not sure why Lambert keeps bringing him on to play as part of a 3 man midfield.  I think this is the 3rd/4th time he''s done it and its never really worked.  As another poster said, its not McVeigh''s fault and although he didn''t set the game on fire yesterday, I don''t think he did a lot wrong either - just not cut out to play where he keeps being played.

Maybe its the same reason Lambert keeps brining on Cureton, I just don''t know what the reason is!

To the poster who moaned about Luke Daley not being on the bench, I believe he''s injured.
