William Darby 0 Posted September 1, 2009 So the BBC made this shiite up Cam?Torquay United boss Paul Buckleinsists he wants to stay with the club after being linked to the vacantmanager''s job at managerless Colchester.Buckle said Colchester had approached the Gulls to speak to him, but he was keen for a new contract at Plainmoor. "There was interest from Colchester but I haven''t been for an interview," he told the club''s website. "I want to stay at Torquay United and I have agreed a new contract in principle. I am very happy at Torquay." Buckle is set for talks with the Torquay board about his new deal on Thursday. Chiefexecutive Colin Lee said Buckle was keen to find out what the Gulls''long-term ambitions were before signing an extended deal. "With a proper plan the manager can be shown the future ambition of the club"
Camuldonum 0 Posted September 1, 2009 Trying, as I must, to circumnavigate Play Station gangs and the occasional fellow elderly old git (who got short shrift on the Colchester message board this morning where someone had the temerity to suggest that First Wizard was "deluded" which, as we all know, cannot possibly be right), Boothroyd is a decent appointment for a small club. However just as with your appointment of Lambert they bring hope and expectation among the fans but, alas, neither arrive with any cast iron guarantees and nor are either prepared to give them.I suggest we just hang about to see what happens as I am sure we will.[:)]

Camuldonum 0 Posted September 1, 2009 No they didn''t make it up but Mr Buckle forgot to mention that he wrote asking for the job. So Colchester rang Torquay as part of drawing up the short list and Torquay asked Mr Buckle and Mr Buckle said he was no longer interested.Shrewd move for a Manager with a new contract coming up wouldn''t you say. I would.[:|]

The rumour started on internet message boards where it duly became a FACT and, as usual, formed a life of it''s own. Because JS was getting calls from both the media and from fans he put out a statement on the Daggers website saying he wasn''t involved. And he wasn''t. As to Buckle, see other post. Out of the 45 applications for the job there were seven from people employed at a club, two of them coaches rather than managers. Only one of those made it to the short list of six and was the last to be interviewed on Sunday at Colchester. He didn''t get the job.
