Are City your No1 love?

Recommended Posts

After spouse and family that is!

Mine and in order?

1. Reading, fantasy of course, ie. Simon Green or Terry Goodkind novels.

2. Pre 1970 Movies.

3. Military history, especially French Napoleonic.

4. NCFC.

So in short, although I would be annoyed, City could fold tomorrow and my life would still be crammed full, I suspect, that one or two of you on here would be at a loss as to what to do with yourselves.

So are City your No1 love?

To me Wiz I have always been in love with life itself. Read the EDP first thing and if I''m not in the deaths collum then the day looks great!!

There is so much to appreciate in the world, it just looks less colourfull if that blasted team loses it annoys and upsets for a while but not as much as it used to.

That is our level of expectation we have started to become used to failure so it hurts slightly less.

Reading allsorts but love Terry Pratchet, old war stories and anything to make me laugh.

yes they are... football before everything else! I have missed family events to go to games... been to a match when barely able to stand with the flu, went to a game on crutches after dislocating my left knee and had to get up the steps in the barclay to my seat.... I''ll even go when im dead! lol.

jas :)

Good point Wiz. My moods fluctuate wildly according to how we have played, or even what the latest news from the club is, but, if I take a step back and look at it all rationally, I do wonder why I let something that, in the wider scheme of things, is really not worth all the energy and emotion, get to me so much!

It used to be go to the match-win, good mood or lose-bad mood, but, by that same evening, forgotten and looking forward to the next game, but not really thinking about it until then. All seems a bit more encompassing now, I think the fact that we can all so readily and easily access info about the club and communicate with fellow fans so easily means that it is all more prominent in our lives than it was, and, is that a good thing or bad thing-can''t tell and don''t know-but, regardless, OTBC! (damn their hides!)

Watch it! [:)]

Same as the above, I''ve got a lot of other interests (reading, music, playing squash and footy, loud mouth soup etc etc) but they all seem better when City have won.

2. Pre 1970 Movies.

What are your favourite movies then Wiz? At a guess I bet one of them is the Wizard of Oz?

[/quote]Yep, I certainly do like that film TCF, but its not my favourite, The Dam Busters, Ice Cold in Alex and The Ten Commandments are all ahead of that.

At the risk of sounding like and old fart what is ''loud mouth soup''. And I also dont understand most of Jim Duffy''s post. Anyone care to enlighten the old girl?

Yeah massive fan of Oz myself. Do like the Dam Busters (Peter Jacksons remake is out next year which should be good), can''t say I''ve seen or even heard of (Ice Cold in Alex?) the other two lol. If your talking pre 70s movies I would have to list The Third Man and The Big Heat as my favourites. Plus anything by Hitchcock or Leone.

What happened to the old Lebistes reticulatus Wiz ?   I thought that was one of your main loves.

Anyway :-

After friends and family of course.

1 Reading fantasy Terry Pratchet, adventure David Baldacci

2 Any adventure b&w movies and old TV series like "The Saint, The Professionals etc   ''cos the good guys always win !

3 Don''t like history too much, especially where wars are glamorized.

4 Norwich City , Ardee''s & Nutty''s "free bet"

Additionally I like computer programming, stage plays, amateur dramatics, some ballet and some opera.

All in all a boring old git.

The acting in those old films was attrocious.

I bet you like the original 1965 Flight of the Phoenix.

Would you say that Dicky Attenborough''s maniacal laughing was realistic?

The 2004 version was better.

There was a time, as the missus will readily attest, when my life revolved around football.Although it still affects me when City lose, the feeling is much more temporary than it used to be, perhaps because I find it hard to bond with our current, and rather transient, squad.

Outside football its:

Travel. We''re trying to see as much of the world as we can before old age really kicks in.

Music. Love the blues, but like most things.

Reading. Pratchett is a genius, but also like Robert Rankin and enjoy a good autobiography

Film. Pretty wide tastes.

Eating out, cooking and wine, although I also enjoy a good pint.

Getting a straight answer to a question from Smudger, Bly or Cluck.Of course, I realise that some ambitions are just unrealistic.......

Without sounding to boring, my list would be (after my wife and friends):

1 - Playing football (and other exercise)

2 - Good food and a good red wine

3 - Fantasy novels such as David Eddings and Robin Hobb

4 - Red Dwarf

5 - NCFC (although at the moment, I would rather play wii boxing and pretend I am punch Roeder)

I was aswell Macdougall, but thought I better state it in case the wife reads it.  Better keep on her better side, especially as she is the one who got me into Norwich.  Damn her.

I mentioned wife & other family just to make the point that my cat comes after my wife but before the rest of my family. Sad but true.
