BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted August 9, 2008 BBC match report:Coventry 2-0 Norwich Elliott Ward''s coolly taken penalty set Coventry on the way to a deserved win over Norwich at the Ricoh Arena. The visitors edged a first half lacking in chances with John Kennedy going close with a superb overhead kick. But the Sky Blues improved after the break and Ward fired them ahead after Sammy Clingan felled Stephen Wright. Leon McKenzie wrapped up the points with four minutes left, shooting home after fellow debutant Clinton Morrison''s shot hit the bar. WeAreYellows49 0 Posted August 9, 2008 Well they deserved to win because they can actually score, where as we can''t hit a cows backside with a banjo at the moment.
CiderkiddCanary 0 Posted August 9, 2008 Coventry weren''t very good at all apart from the goals according to RN.Stupid BBC.
Arthur Whittle 0 Posted August 9, 2008 talkSPORt said Coventry deserved it, at the end of the day we lost, deserved or not we lost, 45 games left to play so lets not worry just yet, look at all the new faces that need a chance to settle in.
Hoolahan? Youlahan! 0 Posted August 9, 2008 Erm... Heres the Truth. Despite having 17 shots and 12 of those on target, we cant hit a cows backside with a banjo, surely thats implying we missed the target on most occasions, when they owe their existence in this match to their keeper. anothatracksuitmanager 0 Posted August 9, 2008 according to sporting life it was ahrsh on us and coleman didn''t seem to happy with his side either so he must have thought they got out of jail. Coventry manager Chris Coleman was less than thrilled with his side''s display this afternoon despite seeing them open their Coca-Cola Championship campaign with a 2-0 win over Norwich at the Ricoh Arena. Leon McKenzie''s 100th career goal against his former gave the Sky Blues the perfect start to their season. The forward, who missed most of last season through injury, tapped in an 85th-minute clincher from two-yards after a Clinton Morrison effort bounced off the crossbar. His goal sealed a win after Coventry had taken the lead in the 46th minute through Elliott Ward when he converted a dubious penalty. The result was harsh on Norwich, however, who had outplayed Coventry for most of the game and spurned several good opportunities. Coleman said: "It wasn''t a good performance but the desire and will to win were good. We were desperate at times and we''re a much better team than we showed today. "I''m delighted for Leon. He came on and did well and was unlucky not score with his first touch. "I thought Norwich should have had a penalty and maybe we should not have had one. anothatracksuitmanager 0 Posted August 9, 2008 sorry about that fella didn''t mean to cut and paste so much if anyone can edit that up as my computer is being weird.still plenty of the season to go least we showed some signs as in comparison to most of last seasons where we showed no signs of life. O.T.B.C 1 Posted August 9, 2008 I don''t think that they deserved to win at all. Thats not yellow and green tinted specs too, they caused us very small amount of trouble but we caused them no end of trouble, we just could get the goals. As Art said, its the 1st game, most people know that, you always get the odd persons here who are determined to cause trouble or be a doom monger as it suits there lifestyle better. Lincs CR 0 Posted August 9, 2008 BBC are officially retarded then if that is really what they posted about the game!1. The win was not deserved in the slightest2. We "edged" the first half? Coventry had what, no shots, the odd corner thanks to our own mistakes and defensively looked AWFUL3. Improved after the break? I think not, they were still poor at the back and had 3 shots - a penalty, Macs goal and one other Marshall grabbed with comfort4. Morrison''s "shot" - i thought it was more of a cross come shot that looped high and wide and got lucky to hit the bar?BBC are crap...
O.T.B.C 1 Posted August 9, 2008 If they think Cov were that much better than us, they were seriously deluded. Don''t think I have seen a decent report from the BBC for us in years. Our defence nulified the majority of their attack. But we all see things different.
BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted August 10, 2008 The bottom line is that clean sheets and goals win matches. We did neither, Coventry did both.Simple really.OTBC

The Saturday Boy 0 Posted August 10, 2008 We outplayed them for 75 of the 90 minutes... but we seemed to want to ''walk'' the ball into the goal... dunno if the pen was a good decision... we were down the other end.. however Stefanovic should have been sent off at the end of the first half so we can''t really blame our luck... no-one seemed willing to have a strike on goal and we gave up after they got the second... but a decent performance anyway especially considering all the new players and the fact that Shacks (who had a terrible game) had to play full back.. I am quietly confident for the season (we still are in desperate need of a targetman though!!)

5-4-1 0 Posted August 10, 2008 I think we are in for a season of consolidation which will be welcome progress after recent past. We should finish comfortable mid-table and considering new players getting to know each others'' strengths that will be a great result. Many positives able to beat and be beaten by any team on our day.In full season number two watch out for us as Roeder tends to reach his sell- by date league -wise , whilst still achieving much progress for future (eg style of football, new young players ) and a relegation scrap is on the cards.
