Destort 0 Posted June 3, 2008 I know there will be people who respond with yet another angry post re: his departure but I am noticing a running theme with every single thread to do with a possible signing. Huckerby was a true legend but now it''s time to let go. Let''s give our opinion on possible players actual abilities rather than ''I''d rather have Huckerby''. We''re not children so let''s objectively assess players with what they could or could not bring to the squad.

Carlos Valderrama 0 Posted June 3, 2008 Well I for one would rather NOT have Huckerby. He was great for us, one of the best we ever had. But it is now time for a new chapter in our somewhat chequered history.
Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,220 Posted June 3, 2008 So if we sign say Hoolahan and he turns out to be even better than Hucks was, will I not be allowed to post, making the comparison between Hucks and Hoolahan along the lines of "Hoolahan is far better than Hucks ever was", or is it only posts that suggest that a new player is not fit to lace Hucks boots that are banned. Because if I post a message that contains a reference to Hucks, I want to make sure that the reference to Hucks is the right one as I would hate to post and make the wrong sort of reference to Hucks as I understand some of you get rather annoyed if a post has a reference to Hucks in it, and I would really would not wish to annoy anybody with a post that makes reference to Hucks. Creative Midfielder 2,203 Posted June 3, 2008 Seems to me that Roeder made a rod for his own back with some pretty inept comments about new heroes and not being able to guarantee Hucks a place in the side - pretty much guarantees, even if it wasnt already the case, that any replacements will be judged against Hucks'' standards.I suspect that the volume of comments you''re seeing now is minute compared to what will happen at the start of the new season. Hairy Canary 751 Posted June 4, 2008 It''s Roeders judgement that people will be passing comment on when they compare any new player with Hucks. If we end up with someone on par with Gibbs on the left wing you won''t here the last of it. The same goes for Lewis if he ends up being a top division keeper. Huckerby may be in the past but Roeder is not and if he is seen to have made bad calls on this sort of thing then it will quite rightly come back and haunt him.
