Syteanric 1 Posted May 29, 2008 bout time we had a home finish... look at previous years fixtures.. if your at home on boxing day your normally away on the last day.. although not always the case.Infact we have had away starts for the past 2 seasons... about time we had a "homer" this year too!jas :)

Camuldonum 0 Posted May 29, 2008
But the police will insist it be moved.
An amusing thread to me because for nearly 20 years I was the Fixture Secretary of a very large (local) League with up to 14 Divisions at one time. The only reason I stuck it so long was that no other ****** would take it on at the League AGM each year. To get out of it to concentrate on our business I actually had to resign at the end of the season BEFORE the Officers for Relection AGM.For weeks I used to sit there with my FA Fixture Chart (price £1) fiddling the numbers so that teams sharing the same ground (often in different Divisions) were not all at Home on the same Saturday! You might have four teams from one area but only two pitches available on the same day.I used to end up with a phone bill of £450 quid (quite a lot in the 70s) and looking back I realise that I was probably completely and utterly bonkers and yet for some curious reason I mostly enjoyed it.And just when you''d done it all and sent them out (typed in those days, no computer) some Lovely Old Boy (as ArrDee might say) would ring up as the Secretary of Little Thingamy St Leonards FC and say: "Oi''ve got a bit of a problem. See, on that first Saturday, the cricket team is still playing. They had to change it you see and so now they are at home..........I didn''t know that till last Friday and anyway the pitch won''t be marked out till the Tuesday after see.........Admittedly I didn''t have to take account of either the Police or Sky.
