West Ham fined £5.5m but no points...

Recommended Posts

Following the irregularities in West Ham''s signing of their two Argentines, they have been fined a record £5.5m, but they have not been deducted any points. Full story from the BBC site below...

So, is this a fitting punishment?

Or has the hearing wimped out of handing out a real penalty to the Hammers, especially considering Accrington being deducted points and Bury being chucked out of the FA Cup for similar offenses?

And is it right they should avoid a points deduction on the basis that the ownership of the club is now different?

Scandalous. £5.5m is pocket money to Eggert. Should''ve hit the "Happy Hammers" where it really hurts and sent them down.
5.5million is covered by the sale of Mascherano, so they still end up with Tevez as a free-bee. without a dent in their survival bid. bloody West Sham-a-lam-a-ding-dong.
Might be wrong but I thought that the money that Liverpool pay for him will be going straight to the dodgy Iranian man, same with Tevez, I think that they might get a nomimal fee.

I think they should have had a points deduction for sure. A fine wont really have that bigger impact on a them as they have a multi million pound investor etc. So i guess the investigating board probably bottled it a little as they didnt want to rock the boat too much by sending them down with a points deduction!

Why its ok to fine and deduct points from smaller lower league clubs seems like bullying to me!

Still im not a great fan of West Ham.....and hope to see them playing us next season.

Typical gutless authorities running (ruining?) our game -happy to relegate smaller Swindon for transfer irregularities or give a wrexham and a rotherham a hefty points deduction or kick a team out of the FA cup (different authority I know) yet run scared when one of the big are involved because they are scared of a court case.

If the transfer was illegal surely they could void any points gained when Tevez or Mascherano played - like the cup expulsion they fielded an inelligible player.   £5.5m is nothing to the owners and if I were an addick, blade, wigan or fulham fan I would be absolutely livid with this fauning decision.

But its par for the course - just as Liverpool we allowed to sign and play Masherano despite clear laws preventing that transfer,  we would not have been allowed to yet ''pool were.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

As usual  , a law for the rich ( prem clubs )  and a law for the poor,    Accrington and Bury   , the FA  is a totally corrupt  entity , that Sky has in its pocket  ,   there`s only one answer to this , and thats for  the lower leagues to  break away from  the FA  completely  , and reform into  how it was before Sky arrived   ,the league !!    lets see  how the FA get on when  the source of players from the lower divs dries up   ,  and the  prem clubs   , who are already pricing the public away from the turnstiles , have to make do with  greedy imports , boredom at watching them is setting in already !

Let the League  make TV deals  with  the 5 main channels   BBC, ITV 1,  BBC2,  CHANN  4 &5    ,    the " prem " of  the league  will be , once again , div one  , with its own rules  , and  going back to a fair sharing  of cash inflow  to ALL the divs  .

What say others ?

If they escape relegation through this then the Club that gets relegated in their place should sue the Premier League over this decision.

If I was the chairman of Fulham, Charlton, Wigan or Sheff Utd , I''d be onto my lawyers right now.

its pathetic.  The spokesman even ADMITTED they didnt give the points deduction because they didnt want to relegate them in this way...  WHAT A JOKE - if it had been us we would be down now.  (And probably wouldnt even fight the decision knowing our inept country bumpkin board)

Other clubs have been relegated or given massive points deductions.  But we know how **** the people running football in ouir country are - I mean, these idiots made Steve Mcclaren England Manager.

Not fair. Altringham get deucted 18 points and get relegated for the same offence. Hammers get away with it. It''s cheating, it''s the same as  if we threw the ball in the net and won and got promoted over somebody else. They got off lucky, i hope they get relegated.

Actually CJF, it''s the Premier League who have decided this punishment (or lack of it)

It''s the FA who appoint the England manager

Two different organisations.

I reckon the authoities were banking on Wet Sham going down, not looking so likely now following their win against Wigan. I reckon this one could run and run, Wet Sham are already talking about appealing against the decision (I think the authorities should have a word in their shell like and tell them that if they try that one then points will be deducted), and if they do stay up who would bet against the clubs (other than Watford) that do go down taking legal action. In all a sordid little affair but unfortunately not at all surprising.
