HUCKS TO SOLVE STRIKER CRISIS?

Recommended Posts

I think hucks played brilliantly upfront last night and i think he plays best there, this is an ongoing debate! but was wondering who would like to see him play there while earnie is out? specially if we sign the scottish left midfielder?

I definitely think there is mileage is this. We could play Eagle or a ''new signing'' in Huckerby''s current position. Although he''s never been a out and out forward, I think he would enjoy it as he wouldn''t have to track back so much. Certainly worth a few games given our current position.

I would love to see Hucks stay up front if we manage to sign Lappin. Lappin has one of the best crosses in the SPL according to St. Mirren fans, but that is of no use to us if Peter ''50p head'' Thorne is up front. Hopefully Browny has a better head on him than that overpaid donkey. I should think Etuhu will lose his place in favour of Fotheringham too if he signs for us, Etuhu just looks crap again.

no doubt in my mind that hucks should be playing up front, thats his natural position - worthington had a habit of playing strikers out of position on the wing, - hucks, henderson, mcveigh etc.

yes, Hucks unbalences the team when on the lft so moving him back up front would be the best option IMO.

Been thinking exactly the same thing, Lappin will (hopefully) come in and play wide left with Hux pushed up front with Brown/Martin. Fotheringham, who has impressed Rangers enough to be offered a deal apparently, in centre midfield alongside Safri and DD put in defence... I believe we''ll get results with this sort of change to the starting 11, I really do.

P.s, In the words of some poodle haired rockers from New Jersey....... ''KEEP THE FAITH''.

He, and possibly Brown as well, are providers rather than out and out strikers like Ernie, and apart from the promotion season Hux has not really been a prolific striker - he creates goals rather than scoring them. He doesn''t often head the ball and he does not have a fierce shot. The worry with Ernie out is that with Chadwick and Croft already, and possibly the two scots to come, we shall have plenty of providers but we are low on goal takers, as we saw last night against Wolves.

I was thinking that, I believe that he is best suited up front and with a new left winger say Julian Gray and Hucks up front with brown, then that will be a good front 2, I still think that his best position up front and played his best football up there, plus if you had someone like Gray he could provide a good helping hand to Drury.

Let''s face it, we have little choice. I thought Hucks did well against Wolves. His final ball wasn''t always so good, but he was often a real threat. But with Thorne as a strike partner, it''s pointless having Hucks creating opportunites and carving up the opposition if nobody is capable of finishing off the move with a goal. Thorne, Croft, and Etuhu were all guilty of poor finishing last night.

i dnt think it matters if hux is out and out and is going to play as a provider. wev been playing with a "provider" or big man plus earnie all year. atleast if we had hux playing off another striker, eg martin/jarvis/ new signing, we wudnt be hoofing the ball up to them as we do with d dub and thorne. time we got back to passing the ball through defeces up to pacey strikers which definatly wasnt wot we saw against wolves

Huckerby in the middle, drifting out wide, pulling centre halfs all over the place.  Good idea, especially when Chadwick returns, instant replacement on left.

But, correct me if I am wrong (am sure someone will!!), didn''t huckerby play up front in our promotion season?

He just doesnt seem to have the finishing ability anymore to play up front, as seen last night twice he was through on goal and took one to many touches on the ball. He was most dangerous for us down the left hand side last night. And dont get me started on Etuhu ffs.............

He did a lot of the time, and at times in the prem. Drifting out wide and pulling centrebacks all over the place leaving spaces for Francis, who unlike Etuhu last night, saw his runs through and took his chances.

I think in our promotion season , Hucks wasn''t one thing or the other. It was a half-arsed but successful 4-4-2/4-3-3 system. He just got the ball deep, beat a few people and scored. Oh it was so easy in those days...

I would rather see him up front.

I have been saying this for over two years.

oi........Saint .... NO !!

I`ve  only been stating that Hucks  is wasting his time  on the left flank   almost from the beginning  of the prem season !  and almost to a man/woman  I`ve been derided   for saying so .......   now , all of a sud  ,  we have posters  making out  this is a good idea ... that THEY  had  !!  gimme STRENGTH  .

Never mind Hucks  , as soon  as  Earnie ( 5 shots before he gets one on target)   gets back , you`ll find yourself  stranded on the left wing again , they dont not like   rapid motion  in these parts  [:P]

Sheded - there have been a hardcore of us saying this for a long while now - and in support of Saint he has consistently said the same thing as you and I.
