JonnyJonnyRowe 974 Posted January 21 I'm of the view that we should not sack Wagner mid-season now. Sacking managers when in the mix for the play-offs has been a disaster for both Sunderland and Birmingham, because their players were on board and playing for their managers and didn't want the change. These players are playing for Wagner, sacking him now would be silly. However, in the summer, when we need a rebuild, assuming we can't creep up via the play-off's and assuming that Coventry don't either - then how about Mark Robins? Finished 5th last season and got to game away from the Prem. Then lost his two best players in the summer, Hamer and Gyokeres, and with a shaky start this season which could be expected when having lost your two best players and having to pick the rest of them back up off the floor, he's got them in 6th again and 2nd in the form table. A track record of coping with the need to sell the odd player for big money to balance the books and showing that you can get over that type of scenario seems to fit the brief for what we're going to have coming? Creedence Clearwater Couto 1,633 Posted January 21 I think Cov are more attractive at the minute, tbh. The opportunity for Robins has now gone, similarly to Russ Martin.
Midlands Yellow 4,682 Posted January 21 He wouldn’t come here now, has an owner who backs him with fans and club totally united.
Capt. Pants 5,013 Posted January 21 Robins always talked about as a possible candidate but he's never landed a 'top' job and there must be a reason for that. I don't think he'd last long here tbh. Yes, nice attractive football at times, but can he get a promotion over the line? They had a fantastic opportunity against Luton, but totally bottled that ist half in the Play-off Final. Not for me. Old Shuck 291 Posted January 21 Yes, that ship has long sailed. Ditto with Russ. Genuine contenders here for the managers job at one time but the moment passed for both. We won't see either now. A lot of people seem sure that we're just hanging on to Wagner until the end of the season before he goes. If we reach the play offs or even finish inside the top 10, why would we then sack him? Unless we genuinely now fall away between now and May, he'll be here for next season.

Home attendances that match ours now and the 3rd biggest away followings in the league.
RobJames 922 Posted January 21 And if we make the playoffs ? "Sorry David but the usual whiners (SqawkNorwich) claimed you were the worst City manager in our history, so auf weidersen." My thought he is now getting the best out of an individual player, and there looks to be more to come - so can the whiners wind their neck in. They got it wrong. Perhaps come back at the end of the season, instead of this endless, unfounded bellyaching.

Nope, see below https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/coventry-city/attendances population Cov 445,000 Nor 144,000 Away attendance is meaningless as it takes into no account the away fans allowed or what games have been played so far. There is also the distance fans have to travel. Coventry, slap bang in the middle of the country, Plymouth out in a limb in the South West I know you like to slag off City, but do try to be a bit more accurate

The Raptor 1,573 Posted January 21 How do you think Robins remembers his time here? He was only here a couple of years and from what I remember left pretty suddenly 30 years ago. I doubt that is going to encourage/discourage him to be norwich manager. He seems settled at Coventry and has a shot at promotion for the 2nd year running. You claimed Norfolk was the 4th biggest county. It is not. The rest is you just trying to make up stuff I never said. Others might wonder why you are so desperate to twist City as being worse than Coventry. We have won two in a row. It says much that you are scrabbling around to find something to slag off the club about Don't expect a reply. I can go onto twtd if I want anti City stuff. hogesar 10,766 Posted January 21 Always seems to do a good, but not exceptional job. Had a big chance vs Luton and didn't take it. He's one of those you wouldn't mind but can't say I'd be massively excited about. If he'd rather stay at Cov then let him crack on...
