Boo boys put in their place but let’s not go over the top

We have an opportunity now which a month or more ago seemed very unlikely. Can't help thinking we need to strengthen the squad before the window closes. A DM is a must in my view; both to get Sara further forward and to sweep up when the fullbacks are further up the pitch.

We may not have that opportunity next season especially if we lose Rowe and others. We're close to being solid play-off contenders or mid-table nothing. It would be massively frustrating if we just drift to nothingness.

No, it is about how well players can play when the game moves them around the pitch - see McLean for our first and Stacey for the second. Watch how often Rowe and Sainz, even Barnes, were back defending. Sargeant got stuck in plenty. The crucial point is not signing some supposed specialist player but trying to ensure every player on the pitch is giving 100%. The last two games have shown we can grind out wins, without the mythical defender.

But 100% over 90 odd minutes is some ask, and that is for the next 18 games. Because however well we have done recently, there is still the defeats to Millwall and WBA to factor in. How much the loss of Sainz and the antics of Barnes had on the results cannot be known, but certainly they were detrimental. Those are the games we need to turn into draws., if we are to be there come May.

Looking at the current table in conjunction with current form I would guess that the top 5 will be

Southampton

Leicester

Leeds

Coventry

Ipswich

In order to get 6th we need to get 4 points more than WBA over the remaining games. That is possible based on the last 10 games.

The really big issue with us is finally having Sargent and Sainz fit. We have also missed Hanley, Gunn and Barnes for long periods. Our results with Sargent playing are even better than the last 6 performances.

IN THE 8 GAMES SARGENT HAS STARTED THIS SEASON WE HAVE GAINED 20 POINTS.

That is a strong play off line up but we have an advantage over the others in that we now have players fit who can win us games even when we don't play well.

I wouldn't bet on us going up but I wouldn't bet against it either.

We've got more chance than we had at this point last season although for some reason there was more excitement. The form actually goes back 13 games the watershed being that home defeat to Blackburn. In the 13 since then we have picked up 24 points. That includes 5  games against teams above us (Southampton, binners, WBA x2 and Hull). 13 games isn't a fluke. Yet doesn't seem to have been noticed by any detractors and throughout it we get calls for protest. It's little wonder there's a siege mentality going on.

Your point about Sargent is valid and you can add Barnes and Sainz to that and more players are returning from injury. Be careful though, the same point was made by someone else a few weeks ago

Would that be the same West Brom who won 4-1 only last week?

Interesting that you say because we played a rubbish team. Put into context they have recently beaten both Leeds and Ipswich, so can’t be that bad ?

And I am no supporter of Wagner, but yesterday he got it spot on, so only time will tell if it was the injuries that caused our problems.

I never said we played a rubbish team

The Baggies were better?!!! - REALLY!!!

If they has been better in front of goal then WBA would have got a draw at least but they wern't so I'd say we were better as the end result suggests!

I meant that the Baggies were supposed to be a better team than how they played yesterday

Have a word will you! Nowhere near the better team, some stats might point that way but we entertained, battled, scored 2, won the 3 points and kept a clean sheet. All the most important stuff

Context of the sentance.
Around me people expected a better display by the baggies.
CSE English only.

Do you not think we had a bearing in how well we let WBA play? Both sides contribute to one teams performance. We stopped them better than they stopped us.

If - between now and the end of the season - we stay in 6th spot in the form table, it seems quite likely we would finish in the top 6. The other sides aren’t in ‘fixed’ positions.  Clearly there’s a hell of a lot of work to do to be anything like that high.

Not sure, there’s 4 teams who could in theory drop out of the top 6 form for remaining games and still comfortably be in playoffs. I don’t think that realistically applies to Leicester and Southampton but I could see that for Leeds and Ipswich.

There’s also two teams between us and 6th now who have points and GD on us so our 6th form would have to comfortably make up that admittedly small gap over them.

The teams that usually grab the last playoffs spots are usually the ones with some of the best form for the run in.

If, and it’s a big if, we maintained 6th place form it may not be enough.

I’m really happy to see us still in contention (admittedly along with a bunch of other clubs), but we need stronger form than we’ve shown recently or all season to guarantee even 6th. I just feel we need to be mindful of that.

As much as it was great to see Norwich win yesterday, it was almost as pleasurable to see the boo boys eat humble pie! Sticking their immature, childish, grass is greener rants, in their pipes and smoking it. The hideously negative Jack Reeve of talknorwichcity, was desperately disappointed he couldn’t slag off the team again! Warner’s interview on Canary call, shows how much negative impact that idiots like Reeve & his boo boy army undermine the team!! But balance is clearly needed and we mustn’t go over the top and get carried away, there were spells of excellent football, but WBA had 5 or 6 clear cut chances, with men free in the box, with Gibson flapping around like a lost sole. We do seem to be easy to cut through at times, an Oliver Skipp figure is still desperately needed, if we are seriously going to make a charge!

agree with this. Remember sites like TNC generate their funds from clicks and generating anger.

Like ArsenalFan TV used to absolutely coin it in when Arsenal were hapless and ****

24 points from the last 13?

In many ways, they have looked the opposite of us judging by those two recent games. Well organised but no weapons, to use Parma's vocabulary. If they had Sargent or Rowe, they'd be at least up there with Leeds IMO.

He literally didn't put a foot wrong. Why does he get such a hard time from people?

Jack Reeve is so unbelievably knee-jerk it's ridiculous. If we win at Leeds he'll hail Wagner the saviour, get beat 3-0 and he'll want him sacked again. Chris is a smiling, never-kicked-a-ball-in-his-life, buffoon of a fan, but he's now the better one of the two. Jack is insufferable.

You have to be a bit click-baity if you're a social media-based journo; they have to have something extreme in there to try and get attention and therefore revenue.

Maybe, but that doesn't mean it's okay. Plus I'd argue Ben Bloom isn't like that at all.
