MOTD

Recommended Posts

Nothing to do with us obviously but Martin Keowns analysis of Man U was so familiar. Spoke of the problems of not having anyone sitting in front of the back four & also lamented the tactic of one of the midfielders dropping in beteeen the centr backs to make a back 3. It  seems to work for Man U as well as it does for us

Biggest issue on MOTD is the incessant VAR rubbish that goes on. Also the offsides that are never flagged until the phase of play has finished....if it is clearly offside, just flag it for goodness sakes.

As for Keown, he rarely gives the smaller clubs the credit for wins against the bigger clubs.  MU's problems go a lot deeper than lack of a defensive midfielder, but having said that, the were clearly found out by a well organised and focussed team. Forest have some very good players.

Our problems do too!

What I took from match of the day last night

Man Utd need a CDM like us

Aston Villa shows us that the right manager right tactics can change how a club performs in their league ,with a lot of the same players ,

Nottiingham forest , again get a good manager can get the same players playing to there full ability as a unit

Luton might lose might go down but boy are they give it a go and have a wonderful spirit and fight

Most of above shows Wagner is not the right man as most can be solved with the right manager in place

Keown is the biggest fool that regularly appears on TalkSport,  and considering they have Dean Saunders and Jamie O'Hara that's quite the achievement

Agreed…

and at least Saunders and Ohara have a laugh at themselves

Keown thinks he’s some genius speaking up for player welfare

Sadly not with this squad

Everyone is a tactical genius when they look on from outside a club. Man Utd are a basket case from top to bottom with a supporter base which hasn't been onside since the takeover. They pay stupid, stupid money for bang average players and expect to win every week under a coach who isn't supported, whoever it is. A new coach will not make a difference to them in their current state. Putting a CDM in front of two carthorses doesn't turn them into thoroughbreds.

Both Villa and Forest are solid clubs with fanatical support and everyone pulling in the same direction. You would have to hope that Forest have some good players amongst the 65 or so in their "first team" squad. By contrast, Villa buy very well - they pay fair prices for talented players who can improve. A bit like Brighton (which is where Rowe should go, if he does leave us).

The lesson is that unless the club, it's supporters and it's policy is all onside with an agreed way of playing it doesn't really matter who the coach is. There are many similarities between United in their league and us in ours, though we have got there by self-inflicting wounds and a bored and bitter former Sporting Director rather than a change of ownership and being bled dry - we don't know what Attanasio's intentions are yet though so he could still be a nightmare rather than a dream. Sacking Wagner achieves nothing unless we address that bigger issue - that is Knapper's job, and it won't be sorted in a few weeks, but he can start in January by getting rid of some of our own carthorses and buying some promise.

Going to share @PurpleCanary's killer stat again. They haven't won the title since 1911, except when Busby and Ferguson were their managers. Their natural state is basket case, unless they have a genius at the helm.
