From current information it looks like the local youths were whipped into an anti immigrant frenzy. This may change as the day goes on.

Setting fire to buses and looting sport shops, utter morons. I doubt they care one bit about the children who were stabbed, its just an excuse to go on a mob rampage.

Just another example of the far right sending kids out to cause mayhem. Wind them up. set them loosse and then clear off yourself so you aren't involved. The right don't seem to have any justifiable arguments so they resort to violence. And Just Stop Oil are called disgusting loonies.

Just saying that Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil look much more reasonable in protest than this.

EDIT: And Conor MacGregor's comments calling for "war" don't look good unless there's an element of context I have missed.

Old Tommy was out there at the beginning of the year. Maybe he's set up an Irish branch of his hate stirring organisation.

There are clips of Irish people setting fire to shops, buses, etc.. I even saw a bunch of rapscallions steal shoes from a shoe store.

That's show those pesky immigrants!

Hopefully these looters and rioters live by their convictions by ditching everything that was manufactured from abroad (clothes, food, electronics, etc) and forget about those pesky holidays abroad.

Human beings don't own a single piece of Earth. Not even a pebble. People should be allowed to live wherever they like.

That episode is the perfect satire of the immigration debate. When Homer becomes Sanitation Commisioner is the perfect satire on the electorate (and Johnson).

Sounds suspiciously like “no borders” claptrap to me.

Everyone Is an immigrant.

1 in 200 of the male species are descendants of Genghis Khan.

Borders are man made.

If you chose to make a life in Barcelona, etc, would you like to be hounded out by troglodytes with torches and pitchforks?

So presumably you’d be happy for me to move my family onto your front lawn.

They can't be Catholic or they wouldn't steal shoes for fear of the harm to their immortal soles.

Yes. Because all immigrants sleep on lawns, etc.

But sure. We can play dominos and tell ghost stories and roast marshmallows.

Or even better, how about if I move my family including children, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews etc and all of my friends into your house?  Would that be ok?

More than a few so called ‘right wing’ lunatics.

The Irish have had enough of attacks on their women, children and culture by immigrants from countries completely at opposite to their way of life.

I thought you were a Scottish Nationalist? How do you square that with the comments above?

Public attitudes to immigration in Ireland are among the most positive in Europe. Attitudes are underpinned by values that prize openness and welcome, and are influenced by Ireland's own experience of large-scale emigration.

You're an idiot.

Yesterday's events demonstrates that comment patently isn't true. Keep drinking the cool aid.

It's possible that you're mistaking the SNP for the BNP.

One is racist, fascist, white supremacist hate-mongers and the other Is the SNP.

We voted to stay in the EU. We voted on a Israeli ceasefire. We're left wing. Inclusive. Socialist. We have a Muslim leader.

Politically Scotland and England are different. We haven't voted Tory for 80+ years.

Hope that helps the confusion.

As for Scottish independence. How would you like it if your Oil and Gas and Whisky exports and wind farm resources and water, etc was filtered up to Scotland?

Not even mentioning that the party leading us is a man with a near billion pound fortune. And yet the economy is in tatters.

Either Scotland becomes independent or England do. Either way.

It's not an anti England thing. It's anti Westminster.

No, I'm even more confused now. You said this:

Human beings don't own a single piece of Earth. Not even a pebble. People should be allowed to live wherever they like.

So doesn't it follow that if human beings don't own a single piece of earth, by what manner do Scots claim Scotland for themselves? And wouldn't that be true for any country?

And if that pebble contained some fracking oil (ok, I'm stretching it a bit here but I think you get my drift) why would Scotland be able to claim it as its own property when nobody has any property rights?

Lot of questions, sorry about that but I am confused.

BTW, lot's of my tax money is filtered up over the border but don't complain bcz I see that as the price for the Union.

But the SNP, by definition, want independence, i.e. borders, for Scotland.  Make up your mind.  You either want borders or you don’t, or does being “progressive” allow you to alternate between the two to suit your argument at the time?

Yeah. If you want to be pedantic about it then go ahead.

The "Human being don't own a pebble" thing is particularly aimed at the fascists who deem themselves more worthy to live in a nation than a person who was born in another land.

Duh.

An Algerian man stabs multiple children outside a school in Ireland, similar to countless terrorist incidents on the continent. Of course it's a terrorist incident. Who are these clowns who suggest there was ever any uncertainty?

An Irish born wonan stabbed and killed her 8 week old baby and was convicted of attempted murder of her other child.

I don't remember any riots happening then.

It's a weird situation. It's as if murder and mayhem is fine and dandy when it comes to the populace. It's only when said murder and mayhem is perpetrated by a foreigner (he was an Irish national) that people are up in arms.

Are people going to riot Dublin in retaliation for the Dublin riots? If so, will there be Dublin riots in retaliation for the Dublin riots that happened because of the Dublin riots?

And so on and so forth.

Why would there be? That sounds like she had something like post natal depression. What do you think people would riot about? Banning motherhood?

Not remotely comparable to someone purposefully attacking multiple unrelated children on the back of political ideas. How is this any different to left wingers out on the street endorsing and encouraging antisemitism under the cover of pro-Palestinian sentiment through whipping up a frenzy about kids dying in Gaza?

The man could have been  suffering from any number of mental illnesses. It's a wee bit too premature to label it as terrorism. Unless you have inside information?

There's an argument that all terrorists are mentally ill. Nevertheless, their radicalisation is a result of permissive attitudes to radical sentiments in the wider Muslim community. Efforts to curtail radicalisation in the wider Islamic community are half-hearted at best.

In this case we don't know. For all anyone knows there might be a personal vendetta.

Automatically linking it to terrorism just because the guilty party was born in x region is purely speculation.

The human condition is nuanced. It's easy to speculate that the lady in the link was suffering from post natal depression. But who knows. She could be bi polar. She might be schizophrenic. Maybe she justed wanted rid of her children.

My point is, there was no riot when she killed her child (why shd did it is inconsequential).

Who has a personal vendetta against random kids coming out of a school and a mother?
