Lack of Club Statement

Recommended Posts

Would it be good form to have a Monday Morning Club Statement that reads something like the following:

'Norwich City Football Club would like to unreservedly apologise to it's supporters for the current sequence of only 1 win in 9 and for only 1 goal in 9 being in our favour in the last 3 matches. The Board and Executive Teams unreservedly accept that this level of performance is unacceptable especially given our current status and the level of player investment post pandemic. We also acknowledge that during that  time period results in home matches in particular have been especially unacceptable and that the shareholder and new financial investment issue has become an unacceptable distraction. Please be rest assured that the Board and Executive is working on making substantive progress in resolving the issues and ensuring that the next home game can take place in a more constructive frame of mind as in particular we are certain that fans will want to give a great send off to Teemu Pukki who has made such a fantastic contribution to our Club in recent years. Thank you for your continuing support and loyalty to the Football Club.'

No. It would be f*cking mental to release a statement like that before the season has ended.

Why would they release a statement when the season isn’t technically finished?

If we had say a 1% chance of being in the Premier League next season I may agree with you but since it is around 0.00001% I don't.

You not agreeing with people isn't the devastating blow you think it is.

That’s not what I mean. We don’t stand a chance of getting play offs but since most clubs will issue a reflective statement at the end of the season why would we issue one now?

Aside from that, we haven’t issued any form of sensible statement since the 19/20 failure where Webber said he didn’t equip Farke properly. I’d be surprised if we did this end of season, it’d be essentially admitting failure.

Because it's honesty and its the way things ought to be done. Sometimes you may need to do it after only 1 game of a season as in August 2009.

People respect honesty and the whole truth rather than mealy mouth nonsense.

Like ' wanting to help the Club' ..

Yeah right.

So a more poisonous atmosphere at the Blackpool game than is necessary would 'help the Club' would it?

Says someone who has been doing his best to create that toxic atmosphere for months now...if you stopped shoitestirring for a bit then people could just.....make up their own minds and act accordingly.

Disingenuous  at best, slimy moneygrabbing whiner as default, not much in between .

The only statement I want to hear from the club is where we are on the takeover and timescales for the future.

That is because I know the sly nature of what goes on.

One thing I now know from other contributors , that I wasn't previously familiar with, is Foulger's performance in 2009 in offering to match supporter contributions and neglecting to mention that whilst their's was sunk money, his would only be a repayable loan. How disingenuous is that from a Club Director?

It is possible there will be such at or near the end of the season, which might include regret from the board on how this season has gone and linking hopes for the future to this potential takeover. That would make sense. As GPB says, simply saying sorry doesn't have that much point to it.

I'm sure the marketing team have a nice "end of season / looking forward to next season" video project in production as we speak. This will include all our best bits this season, interviews with the tea lady / purchase ledger clerk / social media boss, a look ahead from Wagner which will conclude much will depend on the transfer window, a celebrity fan interview or two plus a look round the building site that is the new pool at Colney. The video will probably be wrapped up with some kind of charitable campaign.

What we won't hear of from the club is any concrete news of board changes / plans of expansion of ground capacity / details of any change in strategy both on and off the pitch / new kit details and especially whether Smith & Jones have handed over the reins. In short, nothing that the fans want to hear about.

But consistent with the past twelve months.

Oh, and the video will get another award.

Elton John called it right.

What I appreciate about Essex, is that I know, whatever I do, I'll likely never have done the 'most mental post of the day' on here as he's bound to have said something more mental. Case in point, the OP.

There are some people on here who think the Luton Programme Notes are 'funny'. What is 'funny' is how many points more they have got than us though not in a jocular kind of way.
