Branston Pickle 3,698 Posted February 8, 2023 Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter - no one puts out a side to lose, but teams use cup games to get time on the pitch for players who aren’t getting games. I imagine all sides have done it, including Burnley and the binmen. But one thing it does do is make any results even more incomparable to one another than they would already be…though at the end of the day a defeat is a defeat.
