If we’re Championship then I can see a mass exodus of:

Krul, Aarons, Kabak (loan end) Omabamidele, Giannoulis, Williams (loan end), Gilmour (loan end), Normann (loan end), Rashica, Cantwell, and even Pukki.

It’s ripping it up and starting again basically.

You’re left with:

Gunn,

Bryam, Hanley, Gibson, Mumba

PLM, Rupp, McLean, Tzolis, Placheta, Hernandez

Hugill, Sargent, Idah

An ok Champ side that could push top 6 with additions.

Assuming Byram can come back to anything like his pre-injury level, that's a bloody good Championship defence to build on.

Can't see it scoring enough goals, but with two or three attacking additions we could be up there.

Just have to hope Newcastle do stay up if we get relegated, otherwise that top spot all but disappears and we'll be fighting for a single automatic promotion place.

Have you had access to the Board meeting minutes? This looks like a SW plan for next season and if so the transfers would be seen as better business. Need to keep Omo though (great prospect)

Doubt Rashica would leave, he’s just signed. All the other departures seem realistic except from Pukki. Don’t see Pukki leaving for the rest of his career as we have been by far his most successful stint and he clearly likes the club. Like another Tettey.

Here’s the whole team:

Gunn McGovern

Byram Gibson Hanley Mumba

PLM Rupp McLean Tzolis Placheta Hernandez

Rashica Pukki Sargent Idah

(Sinani, McCallum, Hugill, Soto, Famewo, J.Martin, Drmic, Bushiri, Rowe, Kamara, Dickson-Peters + Signings)

Championship winning side of 22/23! 😂

Rashica might leave depending on his second half of the season. He flat out denied Villa season before as he didn’t want to be in a relegation battle.

You’re probably right about Pukki tbf.

Need some other striking options and potentially another playmaker (we forgot Dowell! 😁 how could we?!).

Cantwell will be here unless he gets the opportunity to show he is PL quality in games to come.  If he can perhaps he can get the move he so desires.  Pukki still under contract will be here.  Omabamidele will remain at least until last year of contract and we get £20m, provided of course he proves himself to be as good as we hope.  Rashica may attract a PL move we would welcome a £20m move, if not he stays, needs goals and assists.  As for our midfield we are left with the plodding dross e.g. Dowell, Kenny and PLM, not good enough to lead a Championship push.

Will need an upheaval is Webber the man to do it.

I'm not sure I'd see Omobamidele or Krul leaving. Pukki only if he fancies a real change of scene.

I can't see us keeping Aarons, Giannoulis is already making noises about a move and I'm not sure any of the loanees will still be here. Cantwell is a mystery- if he can get and stay fit for the second half of the season and plays well then he'll leave. If he continues on his current path then we'd be better off keeping him if his head is right.

Despite the recent improvements and the positive words, it's quite evident that they're not quite good enough again… afraid its looking like back to the drawing board!

GK – Gunn, Krul, Barden, Oxborough

RB – Mumba, Byram

LB – Giannoulis, McCallum

CB – Omobamidele, Gibson, Hanley, Famewo.     Defensively, that isn't bad but we will have to be looking to improve on Gibson and / or Hanley by January if we are in the running for promotion.

CDM – Sorensen?, 2?, 3?.    This area need complete overhaul, failures to address this last time are haunting us.  McLean, Rupp and Lees Melou must be moved on or used as emergency backup, since they will have proved inadequate for purpose in the Premier League and in the way of us producing players that may be adequate.   For example, last time out we stuck with McLean and developed Oliver Skipp for Spurs.   Not very productive was it; yes, helped us get promoted but left us in this mess.   If by some miracle Normann wants to stay, then we need to find the funds to bring him here permanently.   it's a long-shot though!    Apart from the obvious ‘quality’, future replacements need to have pace, power and agility.   Will McAlear or Adshead or Riley step up?  Not sure any are that type!

AM – Cantwell, still the enigma, the club will renew his contract (option) or sell, let's hope Deano and Shakey can get him back to his best…   Rashica and Tzolis have long contracts and lots of EPL potential, but will have more time to develop….

For our managers to have any chance whatsoever on a budget, decisions and actions have to be about potential Premier League quality; none of Dowell, Sargent or Platcheta look near the level and if that's still the case come the end of this season then we need better quality.  Unfortunately, looks like they're in for the long haul, but there's no point playing them if they're preventing the development or introduction of someone who could make the grade!   No point playing players to get us promoted if we can't fund better quality when we get there – tried that with Skipp and McLean for example (and at Sorensen’s expense), it didn’t work.   Are Kamara and Dickson-Peters (who looks technically very good) next off the line.

Up top, Pukki will still be here but Idah definitely needs games and if he's not gonna get them in this team he needs a loan desperately… either we go two up top and include Idah or let him out and get someone in. Personally, think he will come good given enough opportunity.    Will Rowe or another step up from the U23's.  Excepting for Pukki, whose performed way beyond expectations, scouting in our forward department has been pretty horrendous.   Nice guys don’t finish first, Rhodes was never good enough, Hugill is way below the level needed and sadly Sargent appears to be following the trend.   Fact is, they've all been in Idah’s way at some point!

So, we will need a plan for the EPL (not the Championship) at least two CDM’s, two attacking midfielders and a another centre forward, (two if Idah is loaned)... ideally a centre-half too! Also, big improvements in the scouting.

In answer: -

Gunn

Mumba, Omobamidele, Gibson, Giannoulis

? ?.............. don't think it will be anyone currently on the books!  If it is then hopefully Sorensen /Normann!

Tzolis, Cantwell, Rashica

Pukki
