Around 2,000 die every day in the EU due to covid and the EU puts a halt to vaccinations because of a few blood clots which have nothing to do with AZ. They are culpable indeed... All very predictable as as stated no country other than India in the rich nations give a stuff. The US have just done what the EU are proposing doing yet you support the US in their actions as they are doing it to the EU, yet slate the EU. I would be very interested to know your views on this if we were a big manufacturer and not vaccinating quickly as a citizen would you be objecting to vaccine being exported. By the way I don’t support either view as I think the whole world should work together and there is vaccine all over the world that may never be used. Rightly or wrongly they will say their AZ contracts were broken, and consequently there are 100 million ( estimated ) AZ doses in American fridges that it seems will never be used as they may not ever even approve it. There are also huge AZ plants in The US able to produce huge quantities, not even be used. Lots more pressure should have been put on the US but nobody dares to pick a fight with them. Hopefully those doses will get to Covax and let’s hope they are not dumped. Please don’t think for one second I approve of any export ban, I just think it was sadly predictable and feared by Sarah Gilbert that all this would happen. That’s why their vaccine is at cost, but the cynical side of me feels Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson are out to undermine it as are Russia.
