daly 501 Posted January 12, 2020 Last season we witnessed some of the best football played by a NCFC side for many years. It will be the greatest disappointment to most city fans if this team is broken up. In Godfrey, Zinnemann, Lewis, Max Aaron’s, Cantwell, Buendiu, Hernandez and Idah with an average age around 22 we could have been the equivalent of the Busby Babes for years to come. I just hope that the BOD do all in their power to keep this side together.
Chumino 57 Posted January 12, 2020 (edited) So do I but they won't. Could is the word. Delia loves the smell of money, socialist cash is the best. It won't be the same team of bright young talent and manager to rip up the league like last season. We can cheer our bank balance which will be the best ever but our team will certainly be cherry picked. 28 minutes ago, daly said: Last season we witnessed some of the best football played by a NCFC side for many years. By all means we can have a debate about whether we should have spent more this season in an attempt to stay up, but all this 'cheer the bank balance' stuff is total and utter Bull shine! 1

Oh I don’t know after we’ve received the best part of £200 million for this season and the parachute payments and then add on any money received for the likes of Aaron’s and Buendia I’d say the bank balance will be looking rather healthy. I can’t imagine there has ever been a time when the club would have been in such a healthy financial position.

I dunno........... maybe it's just me........ but I'm rather keen on having a club in a healthy financial position when you compare it to the alternative. Reminds me of the well worn joke. Old age - it's better than the alternative!

It's a saying but in this case prescient.... not being in the PL probably means our players will be picked off.
Olano 100 Posted January 12, 2020 Think we have to start planing for next season. So if we geth stupid bids for our players in January, then sell. And no point in wasting money on loan signings.
Yellowhammer 86 Posted January 12, 2020 I cannot understand that the playoffs are always quoted as worth millions to the winning team who get promoted , we get promoted as champions and have no money . Can someone explain why this is so

Reminds me of the well worn joke. Old age - it's better than the alternative! Listen, I want the club to be in a healthy financial position too of course. Every fan would. I do recognise all the good done, academy etc. However my frustration and disappointment is simply we have completely wasted this promotion opportunity before the season started through the failure of the board to back a serious campaign to maintain Premier status. I fear back to square one as the this promising team is broken up. Progression or not? I'd say no. I will happily clap if I'm wrong. If we can geth 30 mill for Arons now, and bring in a new defender that will be here next season, then that is much safer then selling him in june when other clubs knows we have to sell. Depresing, but this is my opinion

Absolutely nothing against jokes and banter TL,fully in favour of that. Need something to laugh at with how our team is looking in the league atm.

We made that loss in part because of costs of bonuses and fees from going up- the club already said we'll be making a profit of about £20m this season. Yes, I know king canary. As I said in response to another poster - if we made a loss of £38 million last season and we make a profit of £20 million this season, over the course of those two seasons we'll still have made an overall loss of £18 million. It's hardly 'piling cash up in the bank' as some have alleged.
king canary 7,606 Posted January 13, 2020 I might be wrong but I think that profit is factoring in paying off those losses this year- unless you think we'll be £18m in debt after this season?

Maybe I'm not doing the maths properly here, but I don't think we'd be £20 million in profit after this season is done, more that we'll MAKE a £20 mill profit over the course of it. If we were £20 mill in the green by the end of it, that assumes we'd have to make a £58 million profit this season, I think!
