morty 0 Posted December 30, 2005 Yes, agreed! He''s looked better than Etuhu, though, to be fair, Etuhu hasn''t had a long enough spell in the team to show us his best, I think we could do well to buy them both really.
Canuck Canary 0 Posted December 30, 2005 how much are these two going to cost?
Northern Canary 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I am not sure if either of them are worth buying. I think we could get someone better
Maverick 0 Posted December 30, 2005 No to Robinson , no to Etuhu. Both look like passengers to me and certainly not the type of players I would want on the payroll if we should acheive the impossible and go up via the play offs.Taking that scenario away , I would still question whether or not they are good enough in be valuable squad members of next years promotion push... Salopian 1 Posted December 30, 2005 Unless it''s on a free, or very cheap, I don''t.He occasionally does the impressive, but if we are going to play with a three man midfield I would want a greater involvement. He seems often missing in front of Colin. Where does he go?
Huddy 0 Posted December 30, 2005 To be honest i would rather we signed neither because they have both been not that impressive. We perhaps could do with etuhu more than robinson because we dont have an attacking centre midfielder, but there could be better out there. Robinson is very similar to safri and charlton who have both been better than him, we cant buy him just because safri''s out for a month. In my opinion we need to spend 2 million and bring in a quality midfielder or 2 and send etuhu and robinson back, but unless we sell ashton straight away this isnt going to happen unfortunately. Michael brown, Halford at colchester, are the sought of players we could be going for.
Mouse 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I''d rather have Robinson than Etuhu. Although Suderland could do with him back at the moment. [:)]
Northern Canary 0 Posted December 30, 2005 from what i heard when we signed Etuhu, couldnt the price go near 1 million? A rip offRobinson would be quite cheap, hopefully under 500K but still not worth a purchase
LinkNR9 0 Posted December 30, 2005 They''re just about OK for this Division, but there are better and more exciting players out there for the money (the right winger from Leyton Orient looked impressive last night, for example). We should be buying players who are ''hungry'' and young, not ''journeymen'' who can''t get into their own (poor) teams.
Ken Aries 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I haven''t seen enough of either player to be able to make an accurate judgement. However, I have seen enough of Etuhu to say that no way is he worth £1 million. There must be better midfielders around in that price bracket. In my opinion, Etuhu is worth no more than £200,000 and I wouldn''t like to put a valuation on Robinson. DumbleDelia is Magic 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I wouldn''t want us to pay more than 250k each for Robinson and Etuhu. If we could get them for that price I''d have them. However, I think they''ll cost much more. When we first signed Etuhu on loan figures of 750k were thrown about. If we waste 750k on him next month I will be livid
lucky green trainers 0 Posted December 30, 2005 yes, we should definitiely buy robbo - he''s a key element in our return to form.i''d agree charlie has done well, and good on him - but he is 34 years old, and in a 4-3-3 has to do more work than in a 4-4-2, so imo he isn''t capable of playing this role week in week out at the level of his recent displays. he may be worth playing away from home, with city defending and catching teams on the break against decent opposition, but he does not give us the options going forward as robbo does.robbo won''t look so good playing in front of colin ''cos he''s playing out of position. when playing left centre midfield, imo he''s backed up hucks and drury better than anybody i''ve seen this year and possibly last, and in combo with safs, we can dominate teams. the display against soton was the best so far this season and this is our best team. if we get a right winger, to add with safs, robbo and hucks - imo we''d have one of the best midfields in the division.get robbo on board now! charlie is a good occasional squad player, who has proved he can come in and do a very good job when required - on evidence of last 2 displays - but not before aganist, coventry, luton, millwall etc.
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I can imagine the posts if this was the Plymouth Message Board talking about Jarrett. They want him because he made an impression, having said that anyone can impress in a loan spell and then slide. I am afraid the jury here needs more time to consider. Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted December 30, 2005 neither has been much kop. Robinson has been involved in the good run and is a better bet than andy hughes in a central role but is just neet and tidy, positionally sound. if he is available for free or nominal, why not.Etuhu is exactly what preston fans said - looks impressive, struggles to get into many games. i think i would probably rather give JJ another go when he is back fron loan. certainlty pay no more than 200,000 for him.I agree with an above poster - Mick Halford at colchester is a hungry young talented playerMichael Brown if availableMatt Holland who is struggling for a game at charlton. How about a cheeky bid for Ian Westlake!!
Cheeky Monkey 0 Posted December 30, 2005 Hmmm, some harsh comments. What about Robinsons superb ball to McVeigh against Sheffield. He has put plenty of these kind of balls forward. Since he has been in the team we have seen Norwich go forward instead of backwards. I personally think that Robinson teaming up well with balls on the ground to McVeigh, Huckerby and Ashton has been what has transformed the side.He can also break up the play and shows committment for the full 90 minutes. Compare him to Safri. He has become a local hero for scoring, what, two great goals. He solid and breaks up play, agreed, and I would like him in the team. However he often makes stupid mistakes, loses the ball regularly and attempts stupid ball control decisions in his own area. Safri rarely goes forward and contributes to Norwich scoring, therefore we need to someone like Robinson or Etuhu to balance out Safri''s defensive style of play.As far as peoples comments about Etuhu - its laughable - give the boy a chance. I don''t think he has the composure of some midfielders - but (I hate to say this) he has a superb engine.I think you are all living in a dream world if you think we are able to buy better players to come top a genrally (four game exception, well three really) poor under performing side.OK then - Etuhu, Robinson or Hughes? Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted December 30, 2005 Sign robinson up - he has been an integral part of this good run. And is a better bet than Andy Hughes in a central role. should be pretty cheap too. also he has been promoted twice - always a sign of doing something right. macdougalls perm 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I agree that we have looked better with Robinson in the team. We seem much more able to keep it on the ground and avoid the permanent long ball game. I also think Etuhu has looked pretty good in supporting attacks but I haven''t seen enough of him to make any worthwhile judgement. If the price is right, I would take a good look at both of these in view of the looming ''crisis'' of Safri and the African cup.

[/quote]Good points, specially about giving Etuhu a chance. How many of those currently praising Doc were slagging him off after his first games (as a defender, not a striker!), or even before he''d played a game at all? But I''m reserving judgement on Etuhu and Robinson: Robinson apparently played very well against Coventry, but in the Burnley game he looked a bit lost. When we were defending corners, he didn''t appear to know what he should be doing and ended up marking empty space. But he has very good skill, and I hope he and the coaches get it sorted out. Etuhu isn''t yet the commanding presence we hope he will be, but again he needs games to create that role for himself. You couldn''t leave Safri out - except that he doesn''t seem terribly consistent, and anyway he''ll be gone for a while soon. And Hughes - I seem to be alone in thinking that Hughes has been pretty good, bearing in mind his role in an (at the time) underachieving side. We need cover in midfield, I don''t fancy relying on Brennan, and Rossi is unproven, so we should try to keep them all, extending the loans if possible to give us a better look at them. I would favour shipping Brennan out and getting a couple of specialist wide players in.

Oso Butch 0 Posted December 30, 2005 Sign Robinson, I say!!! Very comfortable on the ball, keeps talking to/encouraging his mates, and some sublime passing. Even those that go astray (cf. Youssef Saf) display a man with vision. Incidentally, has anyone noticed how much he looks like Steve Gerrard?? - from half way up the Jarrold stand, that is!!! silver fox 0 Posted December 30, 2005 Providing we don''t have to pay a silly price then he would be a good acquisition to the squad, although he didn''t look that impressive against Burnley, although it probably wasn''t his favoured position.

Syteanric 1 Posted December 30, 2005 someone in the barclay said something on wednesday night that Robinson has been freee transferred by all his clubs thus far, no one has paid a penny in fees for him..is this true?if so i think it says alot.....jas :)

Syteanric 1 Posted December 30, 2005 just checked soccerbase and it is indeed true.. he has had a few loan spells but Wolves, Pompey and Sunderland all paid nothing for him.... 3 clubs (none of which are particualrly bad sides" and not a single penny spent.... an ideal Worthy signing then!heres the link if anyones interested http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=9094jas :)
lualua 0 Posted December 30, 2005 get J.J. back and give him a chance,he''s gotta bring more quality to the side than headless Hughes (100% player, not much quality). A settled J.J. means no Robinson ,no Etuhu, no wasted money ,buy a right winger.
