  1. Well observed ICF. And thanks for the heads up re Thorpe End. Who knew?! I''ve seen plenty of dark days since I started watching in the mid seventies. The past few years have been really good! I do wish some on here would perform the main role of a supporter a bit more and actually support, rather than ''direct'' from the back seat.
  2. And hopefully equally happy with West Brom and Stoke away. It has been a frustratingly inconsistent season, but par for the course for a club like ours in a league like this. March fixtures may ultimately provide the final shape to our season and if we can do the double over the above two I think we may just scrape through. Then reassess at the end of the season.
  3. Reggie, is your bed situated in the middle of the room? You appear to have got out on the wrong side of it.
  4. Yup. And the same Stoke we beat away earlier in the season when nobody was expecting it. Funny old game, innit?
  5. Agree. And I think most reasonable people would have been happy with 3 points from the past two games, wouldn''t they?
  6. "Today Yobo was weak for the equaliser that changed the game." Have to disagree with that. He couldn''t have got any tighter without conceding a foul in the box. That was the only way Benteke could have scored, so what do you think Yobo should have done differently? As for Bassong, he''s been poor for a lot of the season and was again today; and making, and keeping him, captain was, and is, a mistake.
  7. I was really enjoying the style we were playing to start with. Thought we passed and pressed well and played much the better football. But the Benteke goal changed everything, and it was a car crash after that. Redmond was poor in possession and too many others underperformed.
  8. Is anyone else unnerved by the fact City1st only seems to come out after dark?
  9. :-). Yes, he''s quite an amazing shape side on. He''ll have to apply to UEFA shortly to get the technical area widened.
  10. He''d have to relegate us twice first to achieve that...
  11. I''m afraid the only chance Hooper has of any action in Brazil this summer is if he dresses up as a lady-boy.
  12. Saw this typo yesterday and wondered whether it was a sign? Beat Villa today and I believe he could be the new Messiah - and I should know, I''ve followed a few.
  13. The stats might say otherwise, but I don''t get the impression we''ve had many more injuries than other clubs this season. Maybe just one of those things?
  14. It''s astonishing how Thorpe isn''t even the most annoying poster on this board!
  15. I agree with most of that Yorkshire. But wouldn''t be in a hurry to change the two main strikers signed this year. Improving the midfield with a much talked about decent CAM will hopefully be a priority, thus helping both Hoops and RVW. But also a more athletic and attacking right back than either Martin or Whittaker. Having watched a montage of RVW''s goals in Portugal, he was very good at finding space in the box and finishing with his feet. Overlapping full backs would be able to play those sort of balls in (as Olsson showed at the weekend). I read that Naughton was looking for a move in the summer and, as has again already been discussed, I think he would be an excellent addition to the team. Replace Elmander and Becchio with a really good CAM and I''d hope the goals would start to flow.
  16. I''m quietly confident and optimistic we''ll get a win. Especially if we start well and they''re chasing the game - could play into our hands. I suppose if I we''re offered a draw now though, I''d be very tempted.
  17. Take Mrs Miggins up on her offer - as a newlywed, I''m sure you''d be able to find something better to do with your time.
  18. And if we beat Villa, that will immediately jump to 1.10 points per game... Obviously only the full season will tell the full story and CH''s performance will be evaluated at that point. I do believe he has been damaged this year, but not irreparably. If the final third or so goes well, with a full and fit squad to choose from, I''d hazard a guess that he''ll stay. Strengthening a squad that has a few obvious weaknesses and underperforming again next year would be another story...
  19. I wouldn''t get too hung up on the two holding midfielders. Both Tettey and Johnson managed to get forward yesterday. I think it''s more about having enough bodies in midfield and attacking (and defending) as a unit, which we did very well.
  20. He''s had a good season. And for all the talk about his passing, the one that found Snoddy yesterday was really rather good.
  21. Is currently bringing a calm authority to our defence. Could he be our Distin - still going strong at 36? Would hope the club retains him if he carries on performing like he has.
